    1 year and 6 months in, constant migraines and head pain, I have a very healthy diet and my sleeps gotten better. If I move too quickly or pick slightly heavy items up my symptoms flare up. I regularly go for walks and do no weighted squats when I can. Been also taking fish oil tablets and drinking herbal ginger tea and I still feel the same as I was when I got the injury. This shts depressing

      I can totally relate to what you are saying I think for me the emotion of the day along with the pain and confusion of not getting the right treatment completely threw me if I had been sent to the hospital straight away I would have had the neck brace I needed but I got worse the the next day and ended up in A&E .

      Have you tried eating more protein or sleeping really really early? Protein is a thing that I Gathered from the internet. The internet also has some people saying take vitamin b12 or other supplements. Sleeping really really early helps me A little bit. I have this slight dizziness that won't go away. It actually disappeared for 1 day and I was so happy. I thought it was gone for good. And then it came back the next day when I spent too much time. Looking at my computer screen in a darker room. I am still trying to deal with the slight dizziness. I don't know what I should do.

    I fell of my horse and on my head (had a good European standard helmet on). I was far away and HAD to walk my horse home, about 2miles. Couldn’t ride, was too dizzy. I honestly think that helped my recovery. I walked slowly, let all the adrenaline go, “enjoyed the views” and in general started to feed “healing” thoughts into my body.

    I’ve been running most of life and I’m 44. I found that running 1-2 miles 3-4 times per week helped my recovery within the 1st 2 months. Smoking definitely worsens or negatively effects symptoms. Avoid smoking and alcohol if possible

    This info is on point and I thank the researchers that have made massive leaps in understanding concussion and recovery over the past few years but it can also be quite misleading info. Exersise is very good for concussion recovery but its all about having the right amount and the right types of exersise, as in not too strenuous. The very tough part is getting the right amount part correct. I was very fit when I crashed at 250kmph just over 3 years ago and got a major knock to the head and broke and dislocated my neck. Spent a week lying in a bed waiting for spine fusion surgory after the crash and the 2 days after the op I was discharged from hospital to my home, where I lived by myself. Struggled really hard at first, then a week or so later had a visit from a concussion rehab team, didn't even know I had a concussion just thought I was really messed up from the speed of the crash. Didn't really listen to their advice much, at first, and as I healed I started trying to push my limits physically, thats when I had my first of what they call a flare up, could feel my heart pounding, severe migrane, extreme light and noise sensitivity and very anxious. In the grand scheme of things to come the first flare up wasn't really bad but as I kept over doing things, not just exersise but things like over exposure to lcd screens (phones, tvs, etc.), noise (going to cafe's or waiting rooms at the hospital), then the insomnia started and that was a very quick downhill spiral into mental health issues leading to suicidal intent. Luckyily I reached out to my physio, who I had know for over 15 years and they sent me to mental health services who then took action and made me move in with my dad for support while I recovered. The compiled actions of over doing it made me have flare up that lasted over a week (normally they last 2 hours) and taking months to just recover from the flare up (normally around 2 weeks recovery from a flare up). After 2 weeks of resting in bed at dads with a pillow over my eyes due to light burning them and ear plugs in due to the extreme noise sensitivity, only getting up to have 3 meals a day and toilet and shower times, I finally was allowed to start rehab again. This consisted, at first, packaging a handful of lollies into a bag for the up coming Halloween (we love Halloween as a family) the first day I managed 5 bags before I was at my limit, by the end of the first week I had slowly made my way up to 10 bags a day. It took 18 months of rehab from the concussion team to get me back to a return to work program where I started off doing work for 2 hours a day to build upto a 9 hour working day. I'm over 3 years from my accident and I'm still not at the capacity of what I was before the accident. Major lesson in concussion and the rehab from it, it needs to be the right stuff at the right amount. Not just exersise but noise and light exposure, eye movements, lcd screen exposure, and much more. Doing things like reading, cognitive games for memory and puzzles and eye movement exersises are all great things for recovery. Brain rehab is so complex and can take a very long time. Without the support of my concussion rehab team I would most likely have taken my life, even if I didn't I wouldn't be anywhere near as recovered as I am today.

    I found it was my neck that suffered long term after a head injury and it was too painful to exercise ..then later down the line I exercised But I found if I taped my head in the smallest way it would bring every emotion back I I would burst into tears with confusion of these feelings and it takes me ages to calm myself down ,its been going on for 9 years after I smashed my head coming up from a heavy table and cutting my head and getting whiplash as well I think the fact that the doctor let me down and did not send me to the hospital broke my trust and the next day I ended up in hospital after falling apart with pain and dizziness ..horrible ...I did start writing poetry so something good came from it .

    • @CompleteConcussions
      @CompleteConcussions  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      not for everyone. The point is that everyone is different. Telling people to avoid things that are not initially bothering them increases the likelihood that they start to bother them in the future. So blanket statements like avoid screens and crowds are not good advice.

      @@Kate-lb1hm It actually is most reasonable. Telling someone to avoid something that is perfectly safe to do increases disability and the likelihood that it will become a problem for them. Light and noise sensitivity INCREASE with avoidance of these things.

Obviously if your head is throbbing severely, back it down. Good luck people. Injuries suck but you have to want to get better and sitting on the couch rarely helps in the long run
