    I was walking my dog, I felt dizzy and got confused on the path, my dog took control and walked me the rest of the way home. Thankfully he was in tune with me and sensed my state. And so clever to know the way 🏡 home.

Also make sure to eat legumes, salmon, pumpkin seeds, nuts, & drink ur protein shakes!! Ik it can b Hard to keep an appetite but w protein shakes u get all the protein & nutrients u need. There’s a middle ground between resting in a dark room for a month and going on walks and runs the first week of having a brain injury. It’s important to refrain from exercise that jar the brain such as aerobics, jogging etc- going for a easy walk, some stretching or gentle yoga is good. But definitely no rush or reason to engage in any exercise except gentle fluid movements such as light walking, stretching and limit screen time and reading ( not avoid altogether but limited)

    As an animation student the whole screen nausea thing is frightening. I may have to drop out if my symptoms don't improve this week but I think this advice is good. I need to reintroduce things gradually. I might watch some tv tonight and start drawing on paper but not animating just yet.

      My symptoms still come and go but I feel this videos advice helped tremendously. A month on from my concussion im doing better. I got blue light filter glasses and returned to work four hours a day during week 2. Then worked 6 hours the week after. Whenever i try overworking my migraine returns that night. I take this as a sign to take it easy the day after. This normally means im animating 2 outa 3 days but i feel like this will get better with time and i can rest properly during the semester break. I am getting thru my assignments slowly. If anything this has forced me to take my work life balance more seriously. I now stop working at 5 regardless of anything that's happening.

      @@shiiraga1111i started wearing blue light filtering glasses everywhere and i found that helped allot with light sensitivity. When recovering I whould push myself a lil past the point of comfort but still scaled things back allot. I'm starting to realise i was very fortunate to recover the way i did but it was still incredibly difficult. I dont know how practical this is but i also take ritilin for adhd and have discovered it's actually prescribed for concussions i think its what saved me from the brain fog. Its worth looking into. I didn't realise but my brain fog got worse after the concussion because my ritilin masked it so well. I think it's important to realise your new limits but work towards moving past them when you can i know thats hard to hear but it really helps this video was a godsend for giving me permission to do that. It is best to listen to your body. I went to work after only one day off because I was dismissed at a walk-in, it only made things worse. I eventually listened to my body and took my sick days until I could see my family doctor a week later. She gave the old-school advice of sitting in a dark room, which I did for a couple days. I find the screen still bothers me even with my glasses with blue light blocking. I limit my screen time and rest if overexerted. I do gentle yoga, meditation, clean eating, and supplements. I will add walking, it has just been so cold! It will be 2 weeks in a couple days but when I see my doctor then I will ask for treatment recovery besides rest. I don't want these symptoms long-term!

    Hi, i have been suffering from what I believe is concussion for 1.5 years. I was reluctant to accept concussion as multiple MRIs came back clear. I also have a vestibular condition (90% paresis in right ear) all this arose following a very impactful bike ride down a mountain, which resembled a 15 minute bike ride down a flight of stairs!! Quick question, does hyperbaric oxygen therapy help with concussion?

    • @CompleteConcussions
      @CompleteConcussions  ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately MRI doesn't show concussion - so will always be clear. Hyperbaric - So far, the bulk of the evidence says that it is NOT effective for concussion recovery (although it is heavily marketed for this purpose). There are some poor quality trials that people point to as evidence of effectiveness, however all of the good quality trials show that it is no better than placebo.

    I suffered a concussion 2 years ago, still healing, and although my doctor has restricted me I had to continue with my life, the best I could, because I have children and my husband works full time. And I've tried all the natural things people are listing for 2 years and we eat very healthy always. I can say personally none of these things have helped or made any difference with how I feel/my symptoms but lead to me severely injuring myself a year later due to dizziness from my concussion. I was walking downstairs and had a severe dizzy spell and fell from the top, 20 steps. From a person that has to live their daily life with a concussion I can say do not put yourself out there too soon, DO NOT push yourself to get back to whatever your normal routine was, DO rest, DO take it extremely easy until you are healed, DO focus on things that bring about peace and helps keep you motivated during this really hard time. I did not fully follow my neurologist and neuro-psychologist instructions at first and once I did start following his instructions and restrictions I started to feel better, still have a ways to go but listening to my doctor made the biggest difference compared to myself back into my pre-concussion routine.

    5 weeks ago I got my first concussion. I was unconscious for almost 5 minutes. There’s no way I could have returned to work in the first few days or few weeks post concussion . I was a wreck. Anxiety was sky high. Severe dizziness. Pounding headaches. Numbness in my face and feet. I’m still getting dizziness and headaches though not as often but I experience “brain fog” and dizziness. This has definitely been a long recovery and I hope these symptoms go away soon (I eat well and stay hydrated).

    SUMMARY
    1. Max 2 days off work.
    2. Time off shouldn't be inactive. Time off should be moderate rest. Screens, walking, emails etc. should NOT be avoided wholesale.
    3. Those who take more than 1-2 days off, worsen symptoms and recovery. Rationale: concussions reduce blood flow, and inactivity exacerbates low blood flow.
    4. Avoid activities with high probability of subsequent concussions: e.g. wrestling
    5. Avoid that which significantly increase symptoms e.g. activities that increase intensity of pain from 4 to 6.
    6. Use activities that either: don't increase concussion symptoms at all, or only minorly
    7. Eat clean, cut pro inflammatories: e.g. processed meats, sugars, gluten, dairy. Pro inflammatory foods can impact the brain.

    Sparred for the first time at a boxing gym I had been training at. Irresponsible coaches threw me in too soon and too hard. I guess it’s my genetics that make me susceptible but I’ve been dealing with a concussion (cognitive slowness, memory problems) for a month now. CT is clear and I’ve set up an appt with neurologist. There are so many boxing gyms across the country that don’t know how to train fighters for longevity. Apparently I’m not the only one who’s experienced something like this. I texted one of the coaches and he left me on read hahaha. It’s crazy how they just don’t care about the kids that pay them every month.

      As a teen who just got a concussion from wrestling and plan on going into boxing after my season (plan on training to be an mma fighter) this is quite scary. Any tips to ensure that the chances of long lasting brain damage is reduced and training for longevity? I hope you’re able to heal from this wishing the best

    • @HallPark
      @HallPark 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Lilcaucasians you have to accept that any time you’re getting hit in the head you’re doing damage to some degree to your brain. Boxing and fighting is an amazing confidence booster though. When you start training and sparring you’ll feel a confidence and adrenaline rush you’ve never felt before. After what I’m dealing with now and what happened to me I had to think is it worth it and for me it’s not because I don’t plan on making a career out of it and if this were to happen again it would once again get in the way of work and college (I had to delay my finals). For you it may be worth it though. Youll meet many hard working, driven people in any striking gym and hopefully stick with them for life. I think creatine helps prevent and reduce the extent of a concussion if you take it regularly. There are some nootropics like lions mane that help reduce the odds of stuff like dementia. Other than that just find a gym that spars smart. If your gym is sparring hard three times a week you may become a good and tough fighter but your career won’t last long and you’ll definitely suffer for it. Ramsey Dewey has some good views on brain damage and concussions on TH-cam. Most of the damage you get isn’t from fights it’s from sparring. If you control that you control the amount of damage you take.

    My Mom fell in January, near new years. She fell on her face, her nose bled a little bit where her glasses injured it when she fell. Since then, she's been doing her normal activities, however she has these episodes where she gets dizzy, and almost passes out. She didn't have those daily episodes before the fall. Sometimes she gets nauseated. She never went to a Dr. for the initial injury. Her face swelled up for a couple of weeks and she had a black eye. She's 73 years old. She has a few health issues, including Fibromyalgia, Hypothyroidism, and Very High Blood Pressure.

      First rule out anything cardiac...but it sounds like an orthostatic issue - if she feels dizzy only when standing then it could be orthostatic hypotension or POTS. I've done some videos on POTS as well that you can check out
