Soloing Alatreon was one of the most pleasing feelings I had thoughout the entire game. It feels so good to come out on top in a intense fight like this one after so many attempts.
Yes! I strongly agree! I remember not having xbl gold at the time so i had to solo him. Took me over 40 tries with crit draw Greatsword Playstyle! But i did it!
Soloed him today, took me 30 min, with a single fucking cart left, on my 6-7th attempt, holy hell was the fight intense. Rushing to break its horn so that it doesn't switch back to Ice again, and once again going ham to hit the elemental check, man the fight was so intense and cool.
Trying him with safi sticky build, gonna take the carts but they can only be used for tanking eschaton so i can't afford dying at all during the fight. Really good fight and challenging.
Haha, its been two years already. Its funny reading this comment now because nowadays I eat Alatreon for breakfest. But it also feels even better, seeing how I used to stuggle so bad with Alatreon and now he's just a walk in the park makes me realize how far I've come. I'm a MR999 hunter now, and to all the newbies hunters reading this I gotta say one thing: Keep trying, it is worth it once you've slain him.

1:46 hit me in ways I couldn’t imagine a classically-arranged piece ever could. Watching my Switch Axe phials erupt all over this magnificent beast’s legs, a Light Bowgunner unloading shots into the horns, a Great Sword cleaving the other side, and an Insect Glaive user gracefully flying through the air slicing the wings. All with the swelling, delicate melody on the violins finally erupting into grandiose chords filled to the brim with tension. Never has a track made me feel like such a badass. Now if only I could find a group that could consistently hit that elemental threshold...
I was pretty lucky with my SOS randos when I first hunted this thing. Most of us had Kjarr Ice weapons and one of us had a Horn. It was basically a foregone conclusion from there. That being said, I have also consistently solo'd him using a Kjarr Insect Glaive with an opposite-element Kinsect (When my Glaive is Ice, my bug is Fire, and vice-versa), using the boosted Kinsect to clear the check when I couldn't break his horns. Kinsects gain insane Elemental damage when you charge them with Monster Ammo (piercing, thorn, bomb, or dragon pods). Doing this enough times let me craft Alatreon's LBG, which can Rapid Fire/Fast Reload any element depending on the mods. With a build that sacrifices Fast Reload on one to be able to Rapid Fire both Fire and Ice, I have also solo'd Alatreon with 0 carts and in less than 30 minutes. I have also seen people clear it with Blast weapons, but it requires you to survive an onslaught of elements that I'm not too familiar with, so I'm sticking to my Disufiroa gun.
the only reason people cart on his regular moves is because they make mistakes trying to beat the Escaton timer, or they aren't used to the fight just yet.
@@jeanschyso I died more times because of Escaton due to losing time healing the blights that affected me over and over. I gave up on that and then I went to search for blight protection jewels, and it worked because I could suppress Escaton just in time until I defeated him.
lol my pc isn't great so my framerate is locked at 30fps, I swear whenever he just decides to move it takes away all my health with his (to me) unreadable windup, but still... I'd fight Alatreon 100000 times over the 2 furious rajangs in the arena.

Capcom managed to nostalgia-blast me with a song I had forgotten. When I heard it first, I told all my friends that this gave me strong emotions that I didn't understand, then looked for others like me and learned why it had me almost crying. Music is so powerful.

Dang... Can't believe its been 3 full years. I remember staying up late just to fight this thing, little did I know, it would be another month before I actually ended up beating it. This was the hardest boss I've ever faced, because it forced me to learn the game more, it pushed me out of my comfort zone, and because of that, it was also the most satisfying boss I've ever faced, and it's up there with Slave Knight Gaal with one of my favorite video game experiences. I started out hating it, but I look back fondly at the lesson it taught me, and the incredible experience it provided.

The tri theme just makes me want to fight him even more, even if ill never beat him. So nostalgic. It reminds me of when i was like 9, i would get up every single day to play mh3 tri, i had a genuine love for the game, even though i was scared of lagiacrus.
As much as I do prefer the new theme over the old one I can say that I believe it's a little more complicated than "new one bad, old one good", at least that's what my opinion is. I believe that both the old theme and the new one do an excellent job of conveying each iteration of alatreon, the old theme had the guitar and the organ and sounded more all over the place to show that alatreon is very elementally unstable, and it does a great job of conveying that imo. The new one loses the guitar and the organ and sounds more composed and controlled and less all over the place to show that alatreon is now in near if not full control of the elements. I believe that the new alatreon theme is enhanced tenfold during the fight itself because of the noises that alatreon makes kind of filling in for the intensity that the theme itself might've been lacking, I personally have never gotten more hyped up and excited consistently during a piece of music in any mh than I do every time that latter half of new alatreon's theme plays. TL;DR both alatreon themes imo do an equally good job of conveying their specific iterations of alatreon. (and yes as much as it sucks to lose the guitar and organ I believe the new one is benefited from it more than it is harmed by it.)

It probably just did that to vent the element somewhere. This is just a theory, but I believe that the reason it seems so in control in the fight is because it's been given a target. However, you have to consider that Alatreon is **not** the type of Elder Dragon that will change its habitat easily, so Alatreon must have a good reason that the fact that it's willing to come all the way to the New World; more specifically, Secluded Valley, which is where Safi was. Which raises another question: Why there? Does this mean that Alatreon was looking for Safi? Had the hunter(s) didn't involve, what would their encounter means? One video suggest that Alatreon wants Safi to ease up the former's pain by absorbing as much extra energy as possible. Since if you listen to Alatreon's roar, you can hear that it's in pain. And before Safi, the only way to control its elemental powers is using the horns, and Iceborne Alatreon horns seems to be a bit bigger, hence, the water element. However, although Alatreon seems to have better control with its power, the energy seems to be building up just as fast(Which is why Alatreon keeps on releasing Dragon element AoE), and I believe that Alatreon senses Safi's presence. And flew all the way to Secluded Valley. Hope this all make sense.

I finally managed to defeat Alatreon solo with only one time being carted (because of Escaton). The feeling of victory is amazing and makes me want to face him again.
🤦🏾♂️ First monster i've seen in the game that legitimately lives up to its hype. Dude is absolutely merciless and the theme maintains a constant sense of intensity and adrenaline rush the entire fight.
I disagree. If you took out escaton-of bullshit out of it, then I'd agree. Such tight hitboxes, such good telegraphs, attacks that look amazing, but that one mechanic single-handedly ruins it.
Its about 50/50 the opinions currently in reddit. Altho escaton ruins it for you, it doesn't much affect me as it gives me the intense tension of wondering if I dealt enough ele damage to weaken the ulti. Along with this music, its damn awesome. Altho I understand the upset tho, but I guess I am lucky with randoms as I play healer myself. Beat on 3rd try.
After many, many attempts of learning how to fight him and not get guaranteed killed by Escaton Judgement, I finally beat him SOLO. I kept trying great sword, but I learned I had to do insane DPS to not get killed by it. I switched to my AT Namielle gear and whipped out my best weapon. The Bone Switch Axe. Right after doing that, I won. He killed me with a few Judgements, but after I survived his final one, he was *one* hit away from death apparently and I killed him with a final slash of my Bone Axe. Who knew a basic bone weapon would be so strong? Arch Tempered Alatreon. You're next on my list of monsters to solo.
Solo is just easier in general. You can bring a raw weapon to that fight and wipe the floor with him. Maybe eat for Safeguard if you feel like you need more time.
@@AirahsELL I did him solo twice and the I did some online and I can definitely say he's significantly easier with more people. He'll never pull off a full power Escaton Judgement. You just gotta hope your teammates don't die to the regular attacks, which isn't too much of a problem if you do the event quest with people, since they usually know what they're doing if they beat the Special Assignment.
Does anyone else think that 1:13 - 1:46 is pretty much the best part of the song? The rest of the song is alright but specifically only this part does it give me the sense of urgency to try and kill him before he does the Judgement, and also it's the only part where it doesn't just feel like background noise and is actually his theme song.

In 2010 I encountered alatreon for the first time with monster hunter tri. I’ve been a long time fan since 2004 when I was a child. In 2010 I was only 10 and couldn’t defeat him for the life of me I always had to ask for help defeating a monster...however I was never able to defeat alatreon even with someone. And it is now the year 2020 and I’ve finally defeated the beast I tried so hard long ago to kill. (I know he was in MHG&GU series but I never got to alatreon then cause I played very little during that time and mhw came out before I could finish.
Defeating the one foe you were unable to must have felt awesome. It was my first encounter with this demon of a monster and it took a cumulative 8 hours with my MH crew. But I knew that I could only consider it truly beaten if I did it it solo. After 5 solid finger aching attempts, I slayed it alone. No other monster gave me the high that this monster did upon slaying. He has supplanted Rajang as my favorite monster now
Other way round for me. Way back in Tri i managed to defeat him a handful of times, he was bloody hard but an awesome challenge. Never got to finish making all his gear before they shut down the online. Was keen on his return in World.... and..... they ruined him. Spent 3 days slamming my head against the wall that is his fight. Used full safi set with augmented ice weapon. No dice. Used full AT Namielle set with water kjarr charge blade. Nope. Tried SO MANY god damn approaches with different weapons, armour, decorations, consumables, palico gadgets and so forth. Tried doing it online but the connectivity issues, combined with the freezes i have to endure and the greedy playstyle of most people makes my odds even worse. It's honestly despicable that they've turned such an awesome 'final boss' tier monster into a trashy 'play like a sweaty tryhard and do enough damage in 6 minutes or you die lol' MMO boss. This isn't Alatreon we're fighting. This is some bastardized abomination that Capcom spewed out to appeal to the meta slave, speedrunning, min maxing freaks. And it disgusts me that people think this is acceptable.
@@DoomNeb You probably just had the wrong builds of didn't attack him enough. Some weapons need less elemental dmg than others, hammer (or charge blade) for example only need 638 elemental dmg. With a good set you do around 30 to 40 elemental damage per hit with 30 being the absolute minimum, so you need at max 22 hits for the dps check. But i guess the game does not do a good job at explaining element in a good way, with element every hit does the same elemental dmg. So a charged brutal big bang for hammer does the same as just some normal hits. So if you specifically have problems hitting the dps check, just spam fast attacks until you get the first topple, and then focus on dps. Hitting him 22 max with fast hitting attacks honestly isn't that bad.
You know i actually have to come back and listen to this after fighting Alatreon, i get way into the fight (and the sounds of crits lol) the angry and salty will probably disagree but fatalis and alatreon are probably the two most enjoyable fights in this game, i absolutely adore fighting these two, probably the best outright fights in gaming i have ever experienced
@Clifford thank you but I acceped my defeat, after more than 600h and the feeling of getting better at the game, it just to much for me, I had best tempered elder dragon solo ragyn Brachy and the Furius monkey but with Alatreon I just feel powerless. I spent hours getting the best gear to fight it but holy crap he beat my ass every single time. Tried solo and is easier than with a group of randoms but to be honest it’s just feels that is prolonging the inevitable 😅. By the way breaking both horn’s and then is capable of switching element is a bitch move but anyway fuck this monster and fuck this game for me, I’ll be waiting for the release of Rise on Pc and make a fresh start
I was late to class and was listening to this while I was tryna get there as soon as possible, and it made it a million times more intense. and then it got to 1:46 when I actually got there and it was amazing.
That soaring string ensemble as a throwback to Tri always gets me. It feels so majestic even after all this time. As if everything about the theme is about the foreshadowing of Alatreon and then there's that moment that reminds you that you're a Hunter that made it that far facing it. It's so badass.
Me and my friend were striving to be able to beat every monster just the two of us. This a-hole took 10+ tries. He disconnected and just at the end and we killed him separately. We counted it.
Alatreon foi uma das minhas lutas favoritas de toda a série, lembro que eu e um amigo que arrastei pro mh estávamos sedentos por ele, eu sempre gostei de caçar solo/com amigo apenas, meu amigo gostava de 4 pessoas e bagaceira, ele era mais casual e eu mais tryhard. Alatreon transformou ele no player tryhard e que não gostava de pt pelo tanto que apanhamos, no começo quase ninguém fazia build elemental e sempre morriamos no escaton. Farmamos armas kulve e eu com set do safi, não lembro o dele. Sempre gostei de dar Dodge pelas coisas(pulo do behemoth que o diga, não erro um). Eu jogando de SA e GS, alatreon me fez um player de LS pelo tanto que parece ser clean com essa arma. Meu amigo jogava de bow/hbg/LS. Mesmo com a build, a gente ainda morria por besteira, normalmente ele morria por bobagem e eu dava uma vacilada federal. A primeira vez que matei o alatreon era um sábado, a gente passou a noite toda tentando matar ele e nada, eu sempre gostei de jogar bebendo uma cervejinha, eram 6 da manhã, eu tava puto e bêbado, queria muito matar ele. Fui tentar, só eu e o Alatreon, sem meu amigo gritando na call, sem ter que ficar comunicando / conversando besteira, só eu e o monstro. As janelas começaram a aparecer, desviar pra tal canto, andar pra esse e esperar até certo momento pra desviar e bater, ao invés de só desviar. Na 4 tentativa eu finalmente consegui matar ele, foi difícil, tava sem vida, sem pot, minha única cura era o set safi, eu lembro que consegui montar o alatreon no final, eu nem sabia que era possível montar ele, meu coração tava a mil, quando ele caiu eu pensei: eu preciso matar isso o mais rápido possível, se não for agora não é nunca. Eu consegui matar ele, a música da vitória tocou, eu reconheci aquela música de cara, meu primeiro jogo da série mh foi o 3U, tenho meu 3ds e o jogo físico até hoje, de vez em quando entro e mato algum monstro, ceadeus, jhen, dire, o próprio alatreon. 3U me marcou muito e ouvir aquela música quando finalmente passei pelo sufoco que foi o alatreon foi emocionante.

Playing with a hybrid support HH build with teams is so exciting against this guy. Because his AI is so aggressive, switching between heals, helping with some damage and stacking buffs is really damn exciting. And you’re like a proud parent in the end because your DPS teammates takes him down while you kept them alive through the run 😆
I love that it's called escaton judgement because it really feels like alactreon is judging you. Judging you to see if you are worthy to continue to. I know a lot of people are pissed at this mechanic but i personally love it really pressures you to learn and adapt.

Don't go in with a team, the ele trip threshold is much lower. As a bow main with 840 dragon, I haven't died to his Escaton Judgment since release.

MH Tri was one of the most prolific MH games. It gets the proper great emend it deserves in many of the monster themes.

Dang... Can't believe its been 3 full years. I remember staying up late just to fight this thing, little did I know, it would be another month before I actually ended up beating it. This was the hardest boss I've ever faced, because it forced me to learn the game more, it pushed me out of my comfort zone, and because of that, it was also the most satisfying boss I've ever faced, and it's up there with Slave Knight Gaal with one of my favorite video game experiences. I started out hating it, but I look back fondly at the lesson it taught me, and the incredible experience it provided.

The tri theme just makes me want to fight him even more, even if ill never beat him. So nostalgic.
It reminds me of when i was like 9, i would get up every single day to play mh3 tri, i had a genuine love for the game, even though i was scared of lagiacrus.
As much as I do prefer the new theme over the old one I can say that I believe it's a little more complicated than "new one bad, old one good", at least that's what my opinion is. I believe that both the old theme and the new one do an excellent job of conveying each iteration of alatreon, the old theme had the guitar and the organ and sounded more all over the place to show that alatreon is very elementally unstable, and it does a great job of conveying that imo. The new one loses the guitar and the organ and sounds more composed and controlled and less all over the place to show that alatreon is now in near if not full control of the elements. I believe that the new alatreon theme is enhanced tenfold during the fight itself because of the noises that alatreon makes kind of filling in for the intensity that the theme itself might've been lacking, I personally have never gotten more hyped up and excited consistently during a piece of music in any mh than I do every time that latter half of new alatreon's theme plays. TL;DR both alatreon themes imo do an equally good job of conveying their specific iterations of alatreon. (and yes as much as it sucks to lose the guitar and organ I believe the new one is benefited from it more than it is harmed by it.)

This is just a theory, but I believe that the reason it seems so in control in the fight is because it's been given a target. Something to vent out on.

However, you have to consider that Alatreon is **not** the type of Elder Dragon that will change its habitat easily, so Alatreon must have a good reason that the fact that it's willing to come all the way to the New World; more specifically, Secluded Valley, which is where Safi was. Which raises another question: Why there? Does this mean that Alatreon was looking for Safi? Had the hunter(s) didn't involve, what would their encounter means? One video suggest that Alatreon wants Safi to ease up the former's pain by absorbing as much extra energy as possible. Since if you listen to Alatreon's roar, you can hear that it's in pain. And before Safi, the only way to control its elemental powers is using the horns, and Iceborne Alatreon horns seems to be a bit bigger, hence, the water element. However, although Alatreon seems to have better control with its power, the energy seems to be building up just as fast(Which is why Alatreon keeps on releasing Dragon element AoE), and I believe that Alatreon senses Safi's presence. And flew all the way to Secluded Valley.
Hope this all make sense.

I finally managed to defeat Alatreon solo with only one time being carted (because of Escaton). The feeling of victory is amazing and makes me want to face him again.
🤦🏾♂️ First monster i've seen in the game that legitimately lives up to its hype. Dude is absolutely merciless and the theme maintains a constant sense of intensity and adrenaline rush the entire fight.
I disagree. If you took out escaton-of bullshit out of it, then I'd agree. Such tight hitboxes, such good telegraphs, attacks that look amazing, but that one mechanic single-handedly ruins it.
Its about 50/50 the opinions currently in reddit. Altho escaton ruins it for you, it doesn't much affect me as it gives me the intense tension of wondering if I dealt enough ele damage to weaken the ulti. Along with this music, its damn awesome. Altho I understand the upset tho, but I guess I am lucky with randoms as I play healer myself. Beat on 3rd try.

The one fight in which the power of friendship only makes things harder.
After many, many attempts of learning how to fight him and not get guaranteed killed by Escaton Judgement, I finally beat him SOLO. I kept trying great sword, but I learned I had to do insane DPS to not get killed by it. I switched to my AT Namielle gear and whipped out my best weapon. The Bone Switch Axe. Right after doing that, I won. He killed me with a few Judgements, but after I survived his final one, he was *one* hit away from death apparently and I killed him with a final slash of my Bone Axe. Who knew a basic bone weapon would be so strong?
Arch Tempered Alatreon. You're next on my list of monsters to solo.

Solo is just easier in general. You can bring a raw weapon to that fight and wipe the floor with him. Maybe eat for Safeguard if you feel like you need more time.
@@AirahsELL I did him solo twice and the I did some online and I can definitely say he's significantly easier with more people. He'll never pull off a full power Escaton Judgement. You just gotta hope your teammates don't die to the regular attacks, which isn't too much of a problem if you do the event quest with people, since they usually know what they're doing if they beat the Special Assignment.

The rest of the song is alright but specifically only this part does it give me the sense of urgency to try and kill him before he does the Judgement, and also it's the only part where it doesn't just feel like background noise and is actually his theme song.

In 2010 I encountered alatreon for the first time with monster hunter tri. I’ve been a long time fan since 2004 when I was a child. In 2010 I was only 10 and couldn’t defeat him for the life of me I always had to ask for help defeating a monster...however I was never able to defeat alatreon even with someone. And it is now the year 2020 and I’ve finally defeated the beast I tried so hard long ago to kill. (I know he was in MHG&GU series but I never got to alatreon then cause I played very little during that time and mhw came out before I could finish.
Defeating the one foe you were unable to must have felt awesome. It was my first encounter with this demon of a monster and it took a cumulative 8 hours with my MH crew. But I knew that I could only consider it truly beaten if I did it it solo. After 5 solid finger aching attempts, I slayed it alone. No other monster gave me the high that this monster did upon slaying. He has supplanted Rajang as my favorite monster now

Way back in Tri i managed to defeat him a handful of times, he was bloody hard but an awesome challenge.
Never got to finish making all his gear before they shut down the online.
Was keen on his return in World.... and..... they ruined him.
Spent 3 days slamming my head against the wall that is his fight.
Used full safi set with augmented ice weapon. No dice.
Used full AT Namielle set with water kjarr charge blade. Nope.
Tried SO MANY god damn approaches with different weapons, armour, decorations, consumables, palico gadgets and so forth.
Tried doing it online but the connectivity issues, combined with the freezes i have to endure and the greedy playstyle of most people makes my odds even worse.
It's honestly despicable that they've turned such an awesome 'final boss' tier monster into a trashy 'play like a sweaty tryhard and do enough damage in 6 minutes or you die lol' MMO boss.
This isn't Alatreon we're fighting.
This is some bastardized abomination that Capcom spewed out to appeal to the meta slave, speedrunning, min maxing freaks.
And it disgusts me that people think this is acceptable.
@@DoomNeb You probably just had the wrong builds of didn't attack him enough.
Some weapons need less elemental dmg than others, hammer (or charge blade) for example only need 638 elemental dmg. With a good set you do around 30 to 40 elemental damage per hit with 30 being the absolute minimum, so you need at max 22 hits for the dps check.
But i guess the game does not do a good job at explaining element in a good way, with element every hit does the same elemental dmg. So a charged brutal big bang for hammer does the same as just some normal hits. So if you specifically have problems hitting the dps check, just spam fast attacks until you get the first topple, and then focus on dps.
Hitting him 22 max with fast hitting attacks honestly isn't that bad.

@Clifford thank you but I acceped my defeat, after more than 600h and the feeling of getting better at the game, it just to much for me, I had best tempered elder dragon solo ragyn Brachy and the Furius monkey but with Alatreon I just feel powerless.
I spent hours getting the best gear to fight it but holy crap he beat my ass every single time.
Tried solo and is easier than with a group of randoms but to be honest it’s just feels that is prolonging the inevitable 😅.

I was late to class and was listening to this while I was tryna get there as soon as possible, and it made it a million times more intense. and then it got to 1:46 when I actually got there and it was amazing.
That soaring string ensemble as a throwback to Tri always gets me. It feels so majestic even after all this time. As if everything about the theme is about the foreshadowing of Alatreon and then there's that moment that reminds you that you're a Hunter that made it that far facing it.
It's so badass.

Me and my friend were striving to be able to beat every monster just the two of us. This a-hole took 10+ tries. He disconnected and just at the end and we killed him separately. We counted it.
One of my top favorite Elder Dragons. Dalamadur, Alatreon, Dire Miralis, Amatsu.
Alatreon foi uma das minhas lutas favoritas de toda a série, lembro que eu e um amigo que arrastei pro mh estávamos sedentos por ele, eu sempre gostei de caçar solo/com amigo apenas, meu amigo gostava de 4 pessoas e bagaceira, ele era mais casual e eu mais tryhard.
Alatreon transformou ele no player tryhard e que não gostava de pt pelo tanto que apanhamos, no começo quase ninguém fazia build elemental e sempre morriamos no escaton.
Farmamos armas kulve e eu com set do safi, não lembro o dele. Sempre gostei de dar Dodge pelas coisas(pulo do behemoth que o diga, não erro um).
Eu jogando de SA e GS, alatreon me fez um player de LS pelo tanto que parece ser clean com essa arma. Meu amigo jogava de bow/hbg/LS.
Mesmo com a build, a gente ainda morria por besteira, normalmente ele morria por bobagem e eu dava uma vacilada federal.
A primeira vez que matei o alatreon era um sábado, a gente passou a noite toda tentando matar ele e nada, eu sempre gostei de jogar bebendo uma cervejinha, eram 6 da manhã, eu tava puto e bêbado, queria muito matar ele. Fui tentar, só eu e o Alatreon, sem meu amigo gritando na call, sem ter que ficar comunicando / conversando besteira, só eu e o monstro.
As janelas começaram a aparecer, desviar pra tal canto, andar pra esse e esperar até certo momento pra desviar e bater, ao invés de só desviar.
Na 4 tentativa eu finalmente consegui matar ele, foi difícil, tava sem vida, sem pot, minha única cura era o set safi, eu lembro que consegui montar o alatreon no final, eu nem sabia que era possível montar ele, meu coração tava a mil, quando ele caiu eu pensei: eu preciso matar isso o mais rápido possível, se não for agora não é nunca.
Eu consegui matar ele, a música da vitória tocou, eu reconheci aquela música de cara, meu primeiro jogo da série mh foi o 3U, tenho meu 3ds e o jogo físico até hoje, de vez em quando entro e mato algum monstro, ceadeus, jhen, dire, o próprio alatreon. 3U me marcou muito e ouvir aquela música quando finalmente passei pelo sufoco que foi o alatreon foi emocionante.

Playing with a hybrid support HH build with teams is so exciting against this guy.
Because his AI is so aggressive, switching between heals, helping with some damage and stacking buffs is really damn exciting. And you’re like a proud parent in the end because your DPS teammates takes him down while you kept them alive through the run 😆

I love that it's called escaton judgement because it really feels like alactreon is judging you. Judging you to see if you are worthy to continue to. I know a lot of people are pissed at this mechanic but i personally love it really pressures you to learn and adapt.
