    "What A Fool Believes" reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 on April 14, 1979. The song received Grammy Awards in 1980 for both Song of the Year and Record of the Year.

      Whoa good , remember that one from years ago...playing on the old MTV. When they actually played music. Not crappy so called reality shows.,teen girls deliberately trying to get pregnant and collect welfare, or bunch of slackers living in an apartment together many years before China's virus...😃🤔😅😎

    The singer is Michael McDonald who sang backup for a lot of other artists, including Steely Dan. He sang backup on Peg, which I believe you have reacted to already. He is in a LOT of songs. Absolutely LOVE Michael McDonald! 💜💜💜
    You need to do I Keep Forgettin' by him. 🔥

    • @ETBrenner
      @ETBrenner 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      McDonald's tone is so unmistakable. The way his voice rings out, you can pick it out clear as a bell even - or especially! - in those multitracked background vocals on Peg.

    Michael McDonald did a lot of studio work with Steely Dan, Kenny Loggins and others. Check out a video that has his demo for Taking It To The Street where he was trying out for The Doobie Brothers. Listen to the studio version first and then listen to his audition tape! Listen to Steve Perry's audition tape for Journey too! Journey is another rabbit hole worth exploring!

    As others have said on here, The Doobie Brothers were two different bands depending on their lead singers, when Michael McDonald (the lead vocal on this) took over their sound became more soulful and less rocky. If you liked Michael's voice check out his track 'Sweet Freedom', by the way he was also in Steely Dan.

    That guy just sitting back in the chair strumming his guitar is Jeffrey Allen "Skunk" Baxter. Hes an American guitarist, known for his stints in the rock bands Steely Dan and The Doobie Brothers during the 1970s and Spirit in the 1980s. More recently, he has worked as a defense consultant and chaired a Congressional Advisory Board on missile defense. Backed by several influential Capitol Hill lawmakers, Baxter received a series of security clearances, so he could work with classified information.
