@@semihaslan7918 fair enough, I'm not either but from I know - the solar radiation outside our ionosphere contains a lot of charged particles and UV radiation, these are usually filtered out and eventually form the northern lights (auroras) and absorbed by the atmosphere (Ozone layer and UV blah blah). So on the moon you are exposed to this, really harmful stuff which can cause cancer and what not. I can't remember exactly how but the gold film filters out the bad stuff.
Unlike the distance to the earth, that distance to Mars is going to vary wildly. The minimum distance from the Earth to Mars is about 54.6 million kilometers. The farthest apart they can be is about 401 million km. The average distance is about 225 million km.
I'm fairly sure that if they make a little mockup town travel sign for some Lunar fun, they don't particularly care if the distances are incorrect. It's just a small goof, a bit of tomfoolery, a hearty laugh, a tiny bit of trolling.

the simple fact that the Moon isn't a location that can be easily reached on foot seems lost on you. It is the emotional weight of having came so far purely by ones' own gumption and drive, It's more complex than having to fly a plane cross-county.
It's tv series based on a "What if" scenario where the soviet are the first to put a man on the moon. This triggers an even more aggressive space race that leads to permanente bases on the moon. The show is called "For All Mankind" I highly reccomend it.
