You should try using scifi visual enhancements, they have better performance than SVE while looking good at the same time. Useful for youtubers

He doesn't use them cause you can't refuel that stuff in ksp
@@ekrm7577 You can recover the spacecraft and pretend like you are launching the same one. Or make a craft that docks to it and transfers fuel. You can transfer fuel.
@@mrpielover615 for this rocket it is impossible to reuse it, when the rocket comes back to earth it just has the "plane", it isn't possible to put it all together

As much as shuttles are nice to look at in KSP, they are a chore to fly. Not to mention that unless you use Stage Recovery and put a ton of chutes on the main tank, they are wasteful as hell. Recoverable Boosters are the way to go.
Actualy, you are right in regards to KSP and real life.
They were basically just a failed idea by NASA.

Quite effective.
If you balance them right they can be fairly easy to fly. I've been able to develop a very well balanced shuttle type thing that's pretty casual to fly.
It wasnt as much as failed but the never ending mission drift that made it go from cheap to fly to stupidly expensive. Its interesting to see just how far things went off original proposal to what they flew.
If the British ever actually launched a space station they would heavily tax it and the astronauts would declare independence.

I think there's a mod that allows you to build craft in orbit, extraplanetary launch pads I think it's called.

You would send each piece up via a separate SSTO, then you would attach them together with docking ports on each of them and fly it back down to the KSC
He could use the Mün launch site.

Hey Lowne, if you put an OKTO to your SSTO's with 10 degree (I mean pitching degree, don't know how to tell it :/ ) reentry would be a lot easier. You just need to click "control from here" button to OKTO and set the SAS prograde vector. By this way, your shuttle will be always pitching a little up and much stable than the stability assist.

@@phreeesubz have you tried downloading the MechJeb mod? it shows lots of extra info and automates dockings, landings, and other difficult tasks.
I love that you use stock, since I play on console I don't have access to mods and your vids have helped me immensely

i made an exact replica station (not all using my shuttle ) but what i found good is the maneuvering thrusters on all the modules is that you don't need to launch a propulsion module and when i had trouble with the shuttle i could use the station instead.

3:28 the reason it stalls very easily is because it has delta wings. Which are great for very fast speeds but it makes it stall at much higher speeds. That’s the reason that the real space shuttle had does and thats why they needed a very long runway to land and a parachute.

Last time I was working on my KSP save file, I was working on doing the same thing! Building space stations with shuttles. Didn't get far so I can't wait to see how this video turns out.
I got the ultimate KSP challenge:
- Land an SSTO on every planet (not on the moons) in the solar system and then leave the solar system.
- Refueling and mining is NOT allowed.
- The SSTO must contain at least 7 kerbonauts.
- All engines & fuel tanks are allowed.

Simple, use nuclear rockets for landings, use Ion engines for space travelling, and LF/OX engines for taking off.

Downloaded the craft file (thought it was off this vid but maybe it was another shuttle vid) and it's really hard to fly. Thought maybe it was one of my mods but even in stock I struggle getting it to orbit - you make it look so easy! Thanks for making it available, helps me get better at building mine

Question! Is the new EULA as Spyware-like as Steam reviews claim it to be? I'm not sure if I should get back into post-update KSP what with the talk about the new Take-Two EULA.
The spyware has been removed some time ago.
Instead of clipping them into the docking arm or putting them on its surface, you could’ve put like a little tug at the other side where the docking port is, dock the front to the station, then undock the tug and either bring it to the shuttle or de-orbit it. That’s what I do, anyway.

Agustin Murat not really because of space X's recoverable boosters,and the fact that the main tank is really wasteful, that it's nicknamed the "flying brick", the separation of the boosters and the main tank can cause the entire craft to blow up,coupled(ha get it coupled),with that the heat resistant panels in the bottom of the shuttle can just fly off,causing more damage to the shuttle,AND that it's actually MORE expensive than a regular rocket,so no,it's not preferred

When Matt builds a space shuttle once it’s gonna work first try, but when I do, well...
I once tried to build a rover that could lift off of the runway and stay parallel to it. That failed more times than I'd like to admit.

You should re do this, I think, but not for sure. Space shuttles orbit backwards. Like the engines facing backwards. If you need help with that, look up, "How to lane a space shuttle.. from space"
The only thing that shuttles are better at are recovery missions.
A shuttle can take a massive cargo down to the ground SAFELY.

It takes determination to get good at this game. I spent my first 100 hours just messing around with planes. It was only in the last 3 months that I started getting better. Just keep at it and you'll be fine.
