    I just can't get over the fact that it's all handmade. All your coats are so well made and beautiful.

    Beautiful coats! You’re a very talented seamstress! Thank you for sharing this with us. I have made one coat, really more of a jacket with a hood, it was lined. I wear is a lot. I look forward to making a tailored coat like the ones you have made. I would need to make a muslin first and that would build my confidence. Thank you again 😊

    Your coats are great! I really like the red one...probably colour oreference.
    Went on coat making binge earlier this year. Started with one I found on TH-cam called a bog Coat, had a vintage blanket for the fabric, lined it, no pockets as not enough blanket could be salvaged, left sleeves frayed. Love it. Next used old pattern in my stash with techniques from tessuti patterns mentioned by vlogger Kristin from dahlia sewciety...seams are overlapped, lined only sleeves....love it. Then took old Jean jacket of mine and copied it in denim and upholstery fabric, son did fasteners bc I don't have the hand strength (old)...he, my harshest critic said it looked professional. Then I tried a Chanel jacket style, had 1 metre of woven large houndstooth fabric, was told not enough for a jacket, found youtube help on line, used some techniques learned from Irish vlogger sewcustom, learned much and yes, it was made with 1 metre! Made pieced quilt reversible jacket...nice but too bulky, would redo not using quilting fabric. Next used new pattern from vogue in faux leather, bought Teflon presser foot after I finished it, so could have been better (esp re collar and lapel), but love it. Also learned some tailoring from Whitney at tomkat stitchery. Probably missed a few coats/jackets. I am coated out! Altho manecoarse on TH-cam just did a hooded coat maybe mccalls, that looks tempting.

      Thank you so much! 😊 And yes, go for it! It can be intimidating at first, but wool is such one of my favorite fabrics to work with - very satisfying - and if you concentrate on just each step at a time, it won't be too overwhelming. The hardest part is choosing your pattern and fabric!

    Thanks for this video! Les manteaux sont superbes, je suis fan de votre projet du modèle traveller ! Merci pour ce partage :) Est-ce que vous vous souvenez de quel grammage était votre tissu gris tourterelle ?

    • @Sarah_Naomi
      @Sarah_Naomi  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Merci ! L’étiquette du tissu gris (qui vient de Core Fabrics) que j'ai gardée dans mes archives n'indique pas de grammage précise, mais "Heavyweight", et je confirme que le tissu est assez lourd. J'espère que cela vous aide !

    You are so skillful! I really admire you and your makes, the cashmere coat looks impeccable. You could wear the red one without doubt, no one except you will notice anything amiss (but I am guilty of this too). I am preparing for my first coat (Charm patterns Princess coat) and it is nerve wrecking, as my biggest fear is wasting so much fabric, time and money for something that might not be wearable or will not fit me. To top it off some of my latest makes did not end up that well. Wish you the best of luck and have a nice day :)

    Would you consider taking the red coat apart and re-sewing now that you have more experience? I think it's a lovely colour on you. I'm very new to sewing, still just repairing and slightly altering garments that I already own. I am very reluctant to spend big money on something and then be too disappointed to wear it!

    • @Sarah_Naomi
      @Sarah_Naomi  ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a good idea! Although, it's already a very slim coat compared to others and I wouldn't have very much fabric (width-wise) to work with. A tricky one, but I'll think on it! I understand your hesitation, fabric can sometimes be somewhat of an investment!

    Sarah hi lol
    What fusible interfacing ? Mine looked and felt like a baby interfacing even though it said woven interfacing :(

    • @Sarah_Naomi
      @Sarah_Naomi  8 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      That sounds frustrating. Finding a good fusible interfacing can be tough. I use fusible interfacing that I buy from my local haberdashery (that they cut off a roll, so I don't know the brand name), but Vliesine tends to have good fusible interfacings too.

      I made the size 6 in the 5’7” height group because the size 6 corresponded best with my upper half (there was enough incorporated ease to not need to grade out for my slightly wider hips) and I’m 5’5”. I hope that helps and happy sewing!

      @@thanhstorf9036 I hope it'll be okay! You can probably check the length of the sleeve by measuring from the sleeve head to the hem of the pattern piece (subtracting the seam allowances) and comparing it to your arm. In any case, it's a great coat pattern and I wish you happy sewing!
