What Fn point of a battlefield is if they shrink the maps more and more for them to became basically garbage CoD with vehicles? My friend introduced me to this game .. and I remember putting my first step on the US carrier in wake island- and little did I know that the soldiers running around me, was in fact real people.. I don't know what planet I lived on back then, but that very realization was surreal and completely, in my case, unheard off. The sheer scale of the maps, being able to team up, fly choppers together and attack designated locations, revive and support each other with supplies, and this all taking place on an online basis .. ?!! This game revolutionized my gaming experience, and I've never once felt the same sensation playing other games again. Battlefield 2 will always stick close to my heart!
Because game was so much fun, this is why radio spam was easly be tolerated. Well sometime not easly but still can be ignored, because game was god dam good.

You could spawn in everyone in your squad, regardless if they were the leader or not, eliminating the role of squad leader (with the exception of hardcore servers where you still could only spawn on the SL), out of bounds enemy main base (no longer going behind enemy lines to wreak havoc on their main base and force some of the enemies to spawn there to prevent you from destroying their assets, assisting your teammates on the frontline with capping flags), no commander (with the exception of BF4 I believe, but the commander function on BF4 was pretty shallow, and you had to join the server as one as well, and you weren't a part of the actual battle, and no assets on the ground either), no faction locked weapons, no different stats/handling for the vehicles of each faction (for some vehicles in BF2 the difference was minimal, but it still gave the feeling of asymmetry), asymmetrical maps (there were maps in BF2 where a certain faction had the clear advantage over the other and I always though that was super awesome. The only map that leaned to heavily on it was Operation Bluepearl, but overall asymmetrical maps were awesome), more kits/classes to choose from, no infinite stamina, no infinite ammo on vehicles... BF3 seemed to lean to heavily on its graphics (which to this day are BEAUTIFUL) and its destructible environment over actual gameplay, which was pretty shallow, pretty much a run and gun game with no strategy whatsoever to it. Only exception was the hardcore servers, I have lots of fun and fond memories of playing on a hardcore only server way back in the day, it made the game the closest it could be to BF2 since everyone played slower and tactics actually played a role on the game over just running and gunning everywhere, but BF2 gameplay still sands unmatched to this day. And of course, the maps for BF2 are legendary and extremely well made. No wonder some of them were remade for BF3 and BF4. To me, if EA ever manages to get their heads out of their asses and decide to give us a GOOD Battlefield game again, all they have to do is: get the graphics and destructible environments and sound design of BF3 and 4 and mix it with BF2 gameplay and maps. Just imagine, good old BF2 with BF3 and 4 graphical advantages, it would be the best FPS ever made. Too bad I don't have any faith in EA to ever pull that off in a good way though, if they ever remade BF2 (or decided to make a new BF game taking the good from both eras of Battlefield) it would pretty much suck compared with the original, if BF 2042 is any indication of how competent they are nowadays.

Ah good ol' BF2. But man I can't believe I was fine with the constant radio spam (especially from the commanders spot-spamming like crack addicts). If there ever was a remaster.. well you know what I want :p
I had just graduated high school when this came out and I literally played nothing else for about a year. If they remastered this in some way I’d definitely cry tears of joy. Battlebit remastered is probably the closest thing to this game but it’s just not the same.
With all the fixed graphics and the dumbed down squad system, BF2 still is the best fucking game in its genre when it comes to realism and immersion. it actually encouraged team play more than any similar game after it.
People can help so I downloaded batelfield 2, and it works but when I start it, it doesn't open nicely, something blacks the screen and then it opens how to fix it???
The Battlefield before DICE sold their souls to EA and no one who made this game great has worked for "EA DICE" in a long time. Never sell your house or business to an investor or corporation.
My only gripe about battlefield 2 is how inaccurate the weapons were. In most mid and long-range engagements the only way to get consistent accuracy was to go prone, aim down the sights, and fire semi-auto, or in bursts.
I takes time to master. I am now at 28% accuracy which is little above avg and it still happens that I get in a point blank shootout and get 0 hits like a fucking noob

The one thing I’d have trouble getting used to after coming back is the repeated speech. Soldiers only had two ways of saying anything.

I actually like it... the Arab and EU voices are the most hilarious ones to me. It's your duty as commander to spot-spam enemy boats in Karkand ;)
