    Since Reagan's closure of the State Mental Health Hospitals, particularly in colder States like Michigan, we have had a continuing problem with the homeless struggling to find anywhere that is warm enough to stay alive. America has Not yet accepted that health care is a "right" as others have. These homeless, and even many of those who qualify for Medicaid, are Not in a stable enough environment to be filling out the kind of "paperwork" that come so easily to these people wearing suits every day. It's time to overhaul the entire system.

      I'm a retired/ disabled nurse and I've seen this worsen considerably over the years, to the point where I'm now one of Bernie's "31% of the US population" that can't afford all of my medications. I've had to pick and choose for the last 4 months what is most important... I never imagined I'd end up in this situation. 🙄

      I don't have to pay a single dollar for any of my medications (I am diabetic, adhd, hypothyroid, etc), some of which are life-saving, yet if I walked across the border south into America, I would not be able to afford living.
      The question I ask is WHY?

  • @kathrynshaw192
    @kathrynshaw192 ปีที่แล้ว +24

    I was one of the first young American children in Washington DC to get her polio vaccination in the early 1950s. The control of of each new epidemic has been accomplished through the use of school regulations and vaccines. Even most people who worked in healthcare were unaware that the last of the facilities caring for the old polio patients only closed down in 2006. I am one of the Americans who has been urging that we transition, like the rest of the World, to some form of Universal Health Care since 1965. Our capitalistic model has encouraged everyone in the system to make the maximum amount of money without giving back their full commitment. I'm the daughter of a patent attorney. I want to see people rewarded for their ingenuity. However, the most inspiring American stories are those where Americans have recognized a problem and addressed it, like Pearl Harbor or the aftermath of the Great Depression. Now, we are still in the period of the aftermath of the Great Grifter. While Americans may have quietly accepted smaller price increases, the French CEO of Moderna has recommended a huge increase in price without Americans already having a UHCS in place. That means that a responsible health care system is Not in place. These vaccines are the key to the successful control of infectious disease. As our society becomes more complex, we can Not afford to become sloppy. I Do expect that the pharmaceuticals will be doing some exciting research in the next several years. Our Congress must position itself firmly and squarely in a place backing both the citizens and the health of the general public for the long term.

      We pay more for healthcare because we have to buy our healthcare at the company store and get overpriced low quality healthcare. The reason you have to buy your healthcare at the company store is because Democrats put on wage and price controls in WW2 and companies had to offer healthcare to attract workers. Then Obama in his infinite incompetence codified it into law. It is government intervention in the free market that messed it up. More government intervention will make it WORSE. We need to go back to a competitive free market healthcare system. Competition would drive down prices and drive up the quality of care.
      Bernie voted for Obama care and forced people to buy their overpriced healthcare at the company store. Bernie is part of the problem, he will never be part of the solution.

    I'm an American veteran who has benefitted by the Moderna vaccine. And I say this. As regards the prevalence of greed exhibited in the pharmaceutical industry, we might also proffer that if there lived as many American citizens who aspire to become ethical politicians as are rhetoricians who complain about the lack thereof, we would maybe, just maybe behold a nation living in better health and favor.
    Indeed, we grouse so much about the failing of politicians but fail to see that having and nurturing Politics and astute politicians prove a necessary evil to develop and sustain, those who like Senator Bernie Sanders are willing to argue on behalf of the poor and infirm more than on undertaking to uphold greed-smitten habits, the likes of which are so exhibited in the health markets and institutes today in the U.S.A.
    Notice that the CEO himself for Moderna is a man of foreign origin, who could not do in his own respective country what he 'could' do in -- and only in -- a setting like that of the U.S.A., that is, to ply his trade in the very nation whose sense of the world was the benefactor that allowed him the opportunity to manifest in the first place, ay a man whose skill set could not have been availed or presumed to manifest in his own country but 'could' be availed by the opportunity that the U.S.A. affords.
    Is this not ironic or worse, is this not as well a failure on the part of some of us who fail to see the merits of honing a supreme grasp of ethics and pronounced acumen for Politics? This all falls to the many, not the one, which is to say, the likes of Moderna needs to change, and citizens, to participate.
    Indeed, more needs to be done by the many, not just those companies for whom our objectives demand that they "do the right thing." Point is, they won't in and of themselves. Such reason is why there needs to be a consequential phalanx of those who wield statecraft, ay politicians who bear a fine and detecting instinct.

      Because they’re all the same. Greedy. The love of money is the root of all evil. Hence these corporations exploiting, manipulating, enslaving and making profits off the backs of their hard working employees and growing wealthier. While our own income stagnates and decreases. Stealing our money and layoffs. I’m so done with all their shiz!; and happy I retired at 60 free of debt and left the rat race workforce in 2021. This fiat system is all a trap to steal our money and rigged in favor of the wealthy. Their consumer marketing schemes/traps: mortgages, car loans, school loans, etc. won’t work on me. I don’t need their shiz!. It’s simple. If I don’t have the cash to buy it. I won’t. Zero debt=Freedom!. As a family of retirees in these uncertain, manufactured(for corporate monsters’ record profits) inflations and trying times, we’re blessed and living comfortably. Praise God!. This is true wealth. So no worries or fears here. Fear is the Devil’s playground. I trust and focus on God. Walk by Faith. Not by sight.

    Get off of the "Corporate Greed" BS and go the the real cause - the failure of politicians to regulate corporations.
    Money-in-Politics is The Cause;
    Everything else is a Symptom.

    • @frederickdavila1070
      @frederickdavila1070 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      If corporations lobby for deregulation and donate to politicians to deregulate or push their own policies, then why would they regulate them? Corporate greed fuels the deregulation. They both go hand in hand. You are saying that corporate greed is BS, but it is precisely why money in politics exists. Greed is the root not money in politics. Most politicians don’t run on ethics and morality. Vote in politicians with ethics and real policy like Senator Sanders and you will see REAL change. You cannot expect capitalism to be regulated when it’s the driver in politics and propagandized as the only solution. We need a balanced system with a combination of views. Social capitalism based on democratic values. Capitalism has to be regulated otherwise money in politics will remain a problem. Citizen’s United must be repealed to start this process.
