He is gay. He don't have any crush on girls.
However his economic strategies are day today accepted by many people in SL. He is much more realistic. @@dayawimalasuriya1330 Thank you for replying. I do not belong to any party in Sri Lanka and I am an indigenous Tamil. I accept that opposition parties didn’t take up the offer from GR because they didn’t want to soil their reputation. They handed over country’s leadership in a silver platter. But Ranil’s popularity at that time was in the doldrums. Therefore Ranil’s assumption that he can redeem himself by accepting the position in the government and become popular again is a reasonable one.
In that sense he had nothing to lose and everything to gain is an acceptable statement. I believe that Ranil is more popular now among the Sinhalese than before. But this gain in popularity I believe is not enough for him to win the election. He is now quite unpopular among the Tamils. He believes that he can compensate this loss with Muslim votes is a forlorn home. I believe that Sajit’s party will garner the support of most Muslims.
There is an accusation that Ranil protected the corrupt leaders, mainly the Rajapaksas. He will always be tainted with this accusation.
@@Shan-tz7ct Well I think you are reading the situation and Ranil's actions incorrectly. The reason Ranil accepted PM post in May 2022 was because no one else accepted ( those leaders ran away from the PM offer because they thought they will be unable to control the situation, not because they had any special credibility ) the position and a risky power vacuum was created with Mahinda resigning.
As he cemented his position as PM, it was a given he would become President when Gota fled SL. Had Sajith, Fonseka or Anura accepted PM post in May 2022, they that person could have easily become President in July 2022.
I think Ranil did the right thing as any senior statesman would do in a similar situaiton and he did a lot to stabilize the country and economy.
I'm not saying Ranil dawned the utopia to SL, but SL is way better off now when compared to July 2022.
In Sri Lanka, getting things done often boils down to your political ties. Whether it's permits, jobs, or welfare, having connections is key. The Rajapaksas had a tight grip on this corrupt system for the past two decades, using it as their vote-making machine. Since the '90s, every president was either from the Rajapaksas' party or danced to their tune. Without a shift in this heavily politicized system and empowering independent regulators, the Rajapaksas are set to keep dominating every government.

Ranil is the best president to dodge the questions. He just survived this interview same as how he survived the Sri Lanka's economy.

I had lot of critics about President RW earlier. But I have a great respect about him on taking the challenge and leading the country. Glad to see that now we are trying to address some rock bottom issues in SL which had been there for several decades. He has initiated tough unpopular decisions for the sake of the future. Keep going Preseident.

Interesting observation made by Palki- Ranil could have done very well as a diplomat, perhaps as a Foreign minister. He started as the deputy foreign minister. That's how the grooming for higher portfolios are done.
Except he lacks the fundamental requirement of a foreign minister, which is allegiances to the country and steadfast commitment to protect its interests. He is always uses by foreign powers to further their interests in Sri Lanka. There is a reason BJP hyper nationalists including Palki loves this minion.

Signling out politiciaans seem to a a common way for public to vent anger, but ask yourself ( if you live in SL ) are you an exemplary citizen to ask politicians to be "pure bread" ? No. My take is there are no "perfect poltiicians" in SL who and bring a utopia - the ones who are willing and capable to help SL from the same lot who put SL into this will have to get SL out of this as well.

Palki is tough and way too soft here, And RW is "bullshit" tough and he cannot get away with Palki if she wanted to be tough.
eg: Ranil says Chinese ships are civilian ships and Palki doesn't question him back. Those ships are military surveillance and tracking ships actually whole world knows that (just google the names Yuan Wang-class )
Ranil openly speak that he had talks with Modi on trinco developments, land connectivity and electricity grid connectivity. You see where SL goes.
