How are people on Social Security that are still getting a monthly income getting stimulus checks before college students - adult children that parents claimed them on their taxes??? I’m shocked that the parents don’t even get the extra $500 that’s insane. A child will get $500 as a dependent before an adult with bills.
Broker Bob Yes, I believe people with w-2s should get checks. They’re people that haven’t worked a day in their life getting stimulus checks that were not claimed on anyone else’s taxes and have absolutely no bills. This is going to be a disaster. Some college students have their own apartments etc, but, allowed their parents to claim them because they made under 4,000 not necessarily because they’re a dependent. I hope they change their minds.
Bob I guess anyone over 17 who is claimed as a dependent will not get the stimulus check. Mine is processing today via direct deposit. I'm married, single income, filing jointly, in MASS. I have not yet filed my return for 2019 (I will owe, so I'm not in a rush) but did 2018 and every year prior via direct deposit.

Eyeslikestars good point. I’m not a fan of this section of the bill either.

Yes, if claimed as a dependent that person does not receive a check. Good luck!
