Can that party really not come up with new faces that are not excuses for the last govt? Same old faces, no lessons learned, just opportunists looking to push their own hairbrained schemes without hindrance of colleagues.

@@alanglasgowbassistReform voters, are only flies on the wall. The fight is on the centre. There is bigger fish to fry than Reform. Talk centre-right, govern centre-right. Labour will mess up, Reform voters will follow, Reform will collapse.

Reform are Tories just more far right. GBN is full of ex Tories.
Clear those who voted for Reform are Tories. Must want them back again. Astounding.

The Party must reform itself just as it did in 1970s and 2000s. Complete change of leadership. And the key is to return back to the people and ditch liberal consensus. They must not be centre right version of LibDems.
Of what use are the Conservatives when they are not conservative?

    • @VictorLaszlo-iz3il

It might be all over for the Tories for ever. Apart from Johnson's fake election success, which collapsed very quickly, the Tories haven't had a substantial majority for over 35 years.

I was curious to find out whether the Telegraph would admit that deregulation was an important part of what went wrong at Grenfell, and I appreciate your honesty in admitting that it was.
The Tory belief in deregulation was ideological, as Camilla pointed out Health and Safety regulations used to be mocked by the Tories. There is no reason why the Tories have to be ideologically committed to deregulation, although for the time being it does not look like they are in the mood to change just yet.

13.18 Camilla says “[Angela Rayner and Rachel Reeves] are looking very glum”… one needs to understand the context: the main event of the afternoon was not PMQs but the statements on the Grenfell Tower fire immediately after PMQs. Rayner and Reeves were looking appropriately sombre. This was NOT a “knockabout” PMQs. I could be more critical of Tominey for ignoring the appropriate context in favour of political point-scoring, but I believe in learning to disagree agreeably!
