Happy to see the Koreans stick with the tried and true v6. This is great for long term reliability. There is no oil and air lines no worry about. While I am not in the market for this vehicle, I would not hesitate to recommend this over a Toyota Highlander to family and friends.
Toyota just recalled over 100k twin turbo v6's in Lexus and TUNDRA. Somehow engines are blowing up...I rest my case. And that's not even including the troublesome electronic wastegate...
Completely agreed with your statement!!, Korean have came a long way and doing just fantastic!!, they deserve all the sales and they are just as hard working and intelligent as Japanese or Chinese!!
Brought a 2020 Limited back in 2020. Only 28k miles on it now, mostly used as our family vehicle. No issues at all. Properly maintained and garage kept. Paint and electronics all working and looking great. If they ever do a major refinish in the coming years I might have to buy the next gen. I genuinely only keep my vehicles btw 6-8 years. Be safe everyone.
Long term engine and transmission I believe Toyota is the best. That being said I bought the 2023 Palisade Calligraphy as it gave me the space and comfort that was lacking in the highlander. So far, I am very pleased especially with the driver's seat. Great feel for the price is his words and it is true.
The Palisade has only been out there for 3-4 years so there is no data to show long term reliability, like Toyota and Honda. That being said, I'm looking at buying a Palisade over a Highlander, next I buy.
Roll down rear window a bit, they rattle with wind and you can move the glass by hand quite a bit. Hyundai service writer said it’s normal, no fix. Road noise is quite loud as well.
I love all the people acting like turbo engines are still unreliable as if we were in the 80’s. Toyota has had turbos for years overseas. Everyone’s favorite truck the Hilux has a 2.8 turbo 4 cylinder. I trust that these engines will still be extremely reliable. Not as reliable as a naturally aspirated engine, but still extremely damn good.
looks nice, my mechanic who is a toyota guy like me is also a hyundai fan, he said they had a really good warranty and customer service. I would still prefer my 22 highlander made in usa though. Seats in my highlander are amazing, nice powerful v6 (not anymore 😢 in 23 models), I prefer a real gauge cluster not a screen, some screen is fine tho.
@@engineerjibrangill so dont have any preferences just accept what you are presented... ok got it. screens and turbos are not new inventions by the way so i dont know what that has to do with being futuristic. its just a cheap solution for analog gauges and physical switches ,which is a downgrade in terms of functionality and reliability
Having digital screens is better as you can tailor them to your liking on what info you'd like to see. Not only that but they're more useful than analog instruments. I love old cars but the digital screens are a must have for me now.
Hyundai/Kia are number 6 and 7 for the most recalled vehicles in 2022. Palisade is also part of the oil consumption lawsuit. Not sure I’d buy anything from Hyundai/Kia.

@@robmalcolm8042 ah, first gen MDX. We have a 2010 which we owned since new. And the irony is the sales manager there was the salesperson who sold us our MDX back when he worked for Acura 🤦♂️
Ive owned Toyotas andchad no problems but even a newer Toyota looks l I ke what every other auto manufacturer had 15 tears ago. The only reason Toyota has no issues is because they never make any significant updates tp their cars.
Had a 2020 first model year. Got rid of it about 2 years in. Had a bunch of quality issues. Rattles, usb issues, wind noise, rough start and most shocking of all shifter would malfunction and refuse to go from R to D. Traded for a Toyota. Smooth sailing now, even if not as refined and luxurious.
No Korean /European automaker can touch the Japanese quality-wise on any level when it comes to cars. You only can quantify true quality over the long term and my 2005 Toyota Camry LE (almost 19 year old) still runs like a champ with well north of 350,000 kms. Toyota products are expensive because buyers know that these cars will be relatively trouble-free over the long term. Toronto, Canada.
I agree. They're all guilty until proven innocent. And toyota/lexus is proven reliable for decades. It more then just panel gaps. If hyundai/kia can keep a clean sheet for another decade then they will make it into my circle of trust. Until then it's toyota all the way.
Only car to match Toyota is Honda. Honda do make better engines though, I was long time Honda owner, but now drive a Lexus hybrid, that I find the build quality in unmatched by anything out there..
You can get the Santa Fe as a hybrid and plug-in hybrid. All you gain is 1 mpg, 500 lbs and loose 1500 lbs towing capacity. There is no real benefits to a hybrid if you want all gas or all electric you don't have two different motors to fail.
Still won’t catch me owning Hyundai or Kia. I tend to have high turnover on my vehicles. Traditionally, Hyundai has abysmal resale value. That’s still where Toyota reigns supreme.
Instead of Hyundai catching up to Toyota and Honda in engine reliability, Toyota is lowering their standards to match the Korean brands with all their turbo engines coming to market now.
Can compare Toyota and Honda turbo engines to Hyundai crappy ones at the end of the day is a Toyota and Honda Hyundai prolly makes the worse engines in the world

Yeah I mean the leading problem with newer kias right now is engine issues, so
Kia and Hyundai really made a comeback in the past few years
My biggest concern is engine issues and burning oil. My Sonata had a horrible engine with widespread issues, which is why i switched to Toyota.
I have a 2023 with 14000 miles and it’s running beautifully so far 💪
Hi David,
The Hyundai palisade looks like it is a bargain and a smart buy for families …
Great review David! The Telluride is impressive, too.
I always knew Koreans would do well in the automotive industry! Those lines are tight!
Hi David, have you had a chance to review the Toyota Vellfire? Such a beautiful van here in Japan
I hope they can get the moderate overlap crash test to a better passing score soon
What is the long-term reliability of the car?
Less then 100k before engine blows up
Umm, the enging and transmission are warranted for 100k miles, so if true, Hyudia is buying a lot of engines....
The Palisade has only been out there for 3-4 years so there is no data to show long term reliability, like Toyota and Honda. That being said, I'm looking at buying a Palisade over a Highlander, next I buy.
Next gen will be definitely have hybrid and plug in variants

"Not as reliable"...was the key point you said...and what Everyine thinks
Fantastic car ❤❤❤
Keep it while it's on warranty if you need a boat. Long term, I'm doubtful anything Hyundai/Kia builds will last.
Can you comment on Telluride?
Wanted to go with highlander But just not as comfiratable, or as good a dash set up

The real question is how does it compare underneath the skin. Engine design, quality of heat shields etc.

Everyone says terrible motors-everyone has had issues-I pay extra for Toyota and not switching-To me the look is cheap

I have to agree on this engine choice 💯% Four Cylinders don't belong in something someone is going to try a tow with.
You should focus on engine quality not on black piano plastics inside, without it you wont go far :D
