    Super helpful! Very easy to follow with nothing left out. I just did the rear brakes on my 2016 fusion and it only took me about 20 minutes per side. Thank you so much for the great video!

    WHEN DOING REAR BRAKES ON FORD FUSION THAT HAS EPB
    FIRST STEP BEFORE DOING ANYTHING (TAKING OFF THE TIRE OR LIFTING IT) ,IS TO PUT THE CAR IN MAINTENCE MODE (10 SECOND PROCEDURE)...THEN THE STEPS IN VIDEO ABOVE WILL APPLY...BUT ALSO WHEN CAR IS IN MAINTENCE MODE U CAN USE JUST A REGULAR PISTON CALIPER COMPRESSOR TO PUSH PISTON IN REAR AS YOU WOULD THE FRONT BRAKES , NO TWISTING REQUIRED (WHEN DOING STEPS BELOW YOU WILL HEAR EPB MOTOR RETRACT OR CONTRACT WHEN STARTING OR FINISHING MAINTENCE MODE PROCEDURE
    MAINTENCE MODE:
    TURN KEY ON
    PUSH GAS PEDAL TO FLOOR
    PUSH EPB BUTTON DOWN AT THE SAME TIME
    TURN KEY OFF AND ON WITHIN 5 SECS...NOW UR IN MAINTENCE MODE
    TURN KEY OFF DO YOUR REPAIRS
    THEN WHEN DONE
    DO THE SAME PROCEDURE AS BEFORE BUT INSTEAD OF HOLDING EPB BUTTON DOWN U NOW HOLD UP...U WILL SEEE MAINTENCE MODE DISSAPEAR FROM DASH

    Use high quality grease, and a dab of loctite on the threads doesn't hurt. I have seen calipers just ''fall'' off at 35mph (not my work) Remember - you're driving the car sometimes with your kids in it!

    It's annoying that Ford made it so difficult to put it in service mode, why didn't they just add it to their electronic menu? It's almost like they want self-maintenance to be difficult.

    Man, you are good :)
    I followed your instructions and I changed my rotors and brake pads this morning but I wasn't lucky at all. Firstly, the automatic maintenance mode worked for the half way only so I had to rotate the piston with a needle nose pliers which was exhausting. Secondly, I tightened the 7 mm bolts and I broke one of those bolts inside the caliper bracket so I had to look for another bracket which is expensive (120 CAD) so I went to a local shop to extract that stupid bolt and that worked well but costed me 30 CAD plus 60 CAD for taxi :D
    Anyway, I know I wasn't lucky but at least the brakes work well now and I have a great experience now 💪💪 Thanks buddy!

      Maint Mode: Place key in ignition, turn key to ON position, press accel pedal down and hold down, then PRESS down on PARKING BREAK button (within 5 seconds) turn key OFF and back to ON (holding accel pedal down all along). Screen will verify. To turn off Maintenance Mode, same procedure except you PULL up PARKING BREAK button.

    bolts are out and we can't get the caliper and bracket off! Does it have to do with the parking brake not being in maintenance mode?

    • @RSWarriorBryan
      @RSWarriorBryan  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Chris thanks for watching the video. Mine had no problem at all coming off once the bolts were out. May be a dumb question, but is the parking brake on? I haven't put the car into service mode at all to change the brakes and haven't had a problem either time. Putting it into service mode will let you compress the piston as opposed to turning it though.
      Hope it was a simple problem and you already have figured it out, but if not get back with me and I'll see if I can help. Thanks again!

    • @chrislent8142
      @chrislent8142 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was able to get the Caliper off pretty easy...but only after putting it inot service mode. Unfortunately, I appear to have broken the piston. In playing around with this whole service mode thing I ended up having the piston extend all the way out. it is now loose and appears to have come off the threaded rod inside...and a little fluid leaked when I was playing with it. I obviously misunderstood other videos I wateched where it looked like they were saying you MUST put the car parking brake in service mode change the brakes/rotor. I'll be buying a new caliper in the morning!

After 30 second you and use finger push piston back to install pad . After you finish lift e-brake up key on off on to switch car back to drive mode . That is done.
