I love how hilarious he found the whole exchange, and how much more enraged the other guy got because of his complete lack of concern for his feelings. Bill is my hero, I wish I had the balls to live as honestly as that. Stupidity and entitlement are thrown in my face every day and at every turn, but I don't have the temerity or strength of character to call it out like he does.

I think the “are you comfortable flying with this guy” question the flight attendant asked was to get a reason to get him off the plane. Cause if he had said “no” they would’ve said, “ok we’ll put you on the next flight”. Then they don’t have to deal with him.

As neither were a risk to the safety of the flight, they couldnt boot either off. So they gave them the option to get another flight and hoped they took it.

One of my favorite Burr stories. I remember listening to the podcast on the way to class when it aired (like 10+ years now?) and throughout the class I was laughing uncontrollably trying not to make a sound. I had tears running down my face just hoping I could distract myself with any other thoughts. Longest 3 hour college class ever.

My biggest fear is that im in Bill's situation and the flight attendant removes me from the plane because she thinks it must require 2 people to cause a problem, you know. Nothing would have made me mad unless they try to take me off the flight when I was ignoring the other guy. Then, i'd probably lose my marbles and go viral for being a fool lol
True, but if you don't act defensive, I think they'll usually side with you. Especially if, like in this case, other passengers back you up. The key is to act as if you're being filmed so that none of your behavior is questionable. Let it be the other guy who steps in his own shit

I have a group of close friends who are all flight attendants for companies like Delta, American, and Spirit and they said they give Air Marshals whatever they want; usually it’s waaaay more booze than what’s even remotely usually allowed

Well I guess if they're raging alcoholics. I know a handful of people that have lost there jobs because they're total piss tanks and had vodka in water bottles. But I mean I don't believe flight attendants wouldn't at least tell on someone who's supposed to be protecting a plane full of people. Sounds like a bullshit story to me

My wife had something similar where some lady would not put her phone away after multiple times being told by the flight attendants. Apparently, my wife chuckling at her behavior set her off so she unbuckled and go into her face and threatened her. The crew saw this and asked if there was a threat in this altercation. When my wife said yes, they were very giddy about it. When my wife found out that the lady was getting arrested after the flight, she tried to see if they could let it go; they said no as it was out of her hands - apparently doing stuff like that is a federal offense. When they landed, police escorted my wife and the lady off. Last time my wife saw the lady she was saying that her uncle was a state trooper and the officers responded with something like "he's not here". When I picked my wife up, there was a state trooper standing with her waiting.

I was in a bar once and this sketchy guy came in, looked like he was tweaking. As fate would have it he sits next to me and mumbles some stuff in my direction. I kinda give him a nod, act friendly, and low and behold he buys me a drink haha.
It still felt sketch, but I accepted the drink. Just because I figure that if this dude started getting weird or violent at least I got free drink out of it! Lol. I tried to be friendly again, asked if he’s a local or something. He responds with, “Are you a true American”. I’m thinking like,”Sh**, here we go haha”. I respond, “Yeah I am”, as if that question isn’t weird af lol. He asks me the same question again, gets up and gets right up on me. Before anything happened security came and kicked his ass out.
The bar gave us free shots after that lol.

I thought i had heard every Bill Burr story but thankfully I found this one I hadn't and it didn't disappoint, hilarious! As a commuting airline pilot who travels to an from work every few days, this is my internal Spirit animal I always have to suppress. I sit in the cockpit for a reason, because if i was a flight attendant I would get fired day one with all of the absolute animals that fly everyday. Bill you handled this perfectly. F**king Brilliant!
