I'll admit, first time I used the Level 3 BLM limit break, it felt REALLY good. I literally yelled out WITNESS ME as the Meteor spell went off and that space rock came hurtling down.
@wowalinbie im guessing you arent max level yet? anyway in later dungeons players do use it. Its whatever i just removed it from my BLM action bar since im never allowed to use it.
It's stupid how FFXIV doesn't really teach you how to use it. You kinda learn about the whole Limit Break when someone shouts you at the dungeon: "Use LB!!"
@@jonathansoko1085 Yea the game doesn't explain what limit breaks are, not even in a those guides that usualy popup in the screen whenever you discover a new feature. btw i'm a new player at lvl 60 and I didn't have seen ppl using once. I suspect a LOT of players don't know that even exist.
@@MegaAndyGG in the dugeon raid thing i guess and the way you use it is by going to the action role tab and going down to gerenal. In the general section there will be the limit break and you can set it into the hotbar. I play on console for now so it maybe different for pc players
I see people giving flack to DPS for delaying limit breaks. I addressed this on the video's first upload - there's a reason for it. A good DPS will do two things before they limit break: 1) make sure they're in a safe position to limit break because the long animation lock can kill you if you're entering an AOE phase. 2) they will wait until a point in their rotation where DPS loss is minimized. For all DPSs this will be when buffs have dropped off and they've reached the end of their combo. MNKs this will be when stacks are used and can be regained easier. DRG when Nastrond is done and jumps are on CD. SAM when they've used their gauge. NIN when everything is on CD. This is being optimal at DPS. If a good DPS isn't using it at 20% it's for a reason. This isn't an invitation for trigger happy ranged or casters to LB because they are impatient.
Thanks for commenting again. Yes these are solid tips. I would also mention finishing a dungeon with the lb unused does not grant bonus loot for doing it the hard way. Just like a dps has to learn when to move for mechanics and when to stick to their rotatation that one extra move this is something they get better at with practice. Step one imo is start using your lb. get use to the timing and the placement. Then make sure you get better at integrating it and using it. These mistakes you describe are not easy to avoid if you literally don’t know what your lb looks like or have the button on your bar. Thanks again.
I would also add that you might delay it if the boss is about to move. as LB has both a cast time and rather long animation, if you spen that animation attacking nothing but air your LB will be wasted and if would better to wait until the boss stood still long enough for the LB to hit.
I often see melee waiting till 1% left to start the LB when I don't play as a dps. If I dps as ranged about 70% of the time I use it as a finishing blow because the melee didn't use it. Sad fact is there is a ton of dps who don't pay attention.
I used it today for the first time, when the raid was completely wiped and the boss already running towards me - and everybody came back to life with full health ♥️ Such a great feeling.
Yikes, I just got into this game, level 50 now and a party member asked me why I didn't use limit break. Played about 44 hours and I somehow skipped limit break lol.
I'm a new player. Just finished first dungeon as THM. I wanted to use it because it was just sitting at full for the entire instance but clicking on it did nothing and I couldn't find a keybind for it. I came across this video looking for how to use it. Thanks.
Same thing happened to me in my first few dungeons (started playing very recently). I felt like a scrub because I was in the final fight on a pugilist (like I said still VERY new) and since I was the melee DPS i was told to Limit Break and had no idea how to use it :/ this video helps a hell of a lot!
This isnt bad guide for new players I like it !!! You heavily underrated LB healer 1 and 2 as well as tank LB 1 and 2. (Vuln checks, Infirmiry, Silences, range of heals, Hp penalty , Dammage that cant be healed through, Healers dead are all situations which this applies) min i level sync runs put these limit breaks on par with their dps counterparts.
One time I was doing Ridorana Lighthouse as WHM and one party completely wiped, one party was down to 4 or 5 and my party was completely dead besides a SAM and a SCH. We waited so long for the LB3 only for the SAM to use it within milliseconds of the bar being full. At 39%. The entire alliance just sat there in disbelief as the SCH yelled at him. Like dude Read the room Count the bodies on the floor
I feel like they should change the system, make it something more teamwork-focused. Either something the whole party has to channel together, or maybe make it weaker but once someone uses an LB you have 5 seconds to use your own before it expires, or something like that. That'd make it feel less like one person was hogging the whole bar!
I've been playing for 2 months and got all the way to stormblood without knowing what limitbreaks are, the game does 0 effort to explain it as far as im concerned, I had to actively find this video to actually know what it was to begin with.
Same, The only reason I even knew to look it up is because I was watching another video to see how hard a Dungeon was going to be, and they mentioned it, I am lvl 55 and Just now put it on my bar, I had no clue.
What I hate is when everyone is dead but the healer(usually me) and a dps; And even though the boss is at half health, that one dps is going to use lb3 thinking...well idk wtf they're thinking but this needs to stop.
I'm incredibly new to the game so i'm trying to find when are good times to use limit breaks once I get to that point. Part of me wants to save limit breaks for whoever does the most damage with them. But I also know they should be saved for healers to rez the party. Can I get some guidelines that weren't really covered in this video?
The important thing to note is that the Physical Ranged LB will always hit its intended target whereas the Caster DPS can potentially miss any or all it's intended targets as it's a placed AoE.
Work To Game the best example of this is during PvP. If you go into frontlines as BRD or MCH and limitbreak/adrenalin rush an enemy you'll always turn to face your victim unless they LoS or stun you. Give it a try, you only have to be Level 30 on a job to try PvP and you'll always have a chance to LB unless your going out of your way to avoid fighting.
When I was on my first week of the game someone told me "don't use lb like that when there's a lot of monsters with the boss" but it was pretty clear that they were trash mobs (haukke manor normal adds), the boss lost 12% of its health and got to 8%. I knew that casters have AoE lb, but they weren't using it, but I'm STILL not sure I was right to use it! (and it's been almost 2 months now) I mean I think I was because the other person didn't use it. Because of this interaction I now wait until someone calls for lb but generally it's too late too :(.

I used my first level 3 limit break last night in a level 50 raid boss (cloud of darkness?) as a Red Mage. I felt super giddy after using it, these are fun!
One more thing, the dmg is based on the avarage Item Level of your current light oder full Party. So if a Ninja with ILVL300 uses it, the dmg will be the same if a Dragoon with iLVL500 uses it, since they are both mellee dps and the avarage ILVL should be around 400. And sometimes you need it for a specific mechanic, like you said, Fire Nails that will wipeout the party if not killed asap or to be able to ignore a certain mechanic by simply using the Tank LB. Its best to get familiar with the fights and dungeons a little bit in advance and maybe just ask your group beforehand, if there is a certain point to use a LB
That’s a fair thought as long as you know that both would use it. I would think that means the 500 plays more and would be more comfortable burning it?
As a new player this is by far the most mystifying aspect of the game, theirs no tutorial, quest, or dialogue for it you basically just have to notice the limit break gauge and ask yourself "huh wonder what that does" and I bet plenty of players stop right there and never figure it out.
GameDiario I had this problem too starting out as a summoner as well. That circle represents the AoE of your LB. once the circle shows up, you move it into the position you want, and then hit the confirm button, whatever it is for you (I play using a ps4 controller, so for me it would be the X button). Then you just wait for the cast to finish
Ran across this video. A couple things I'd like to point out. LB is best described proportionally. Melee lb does 100% damage to a single target, Caster does ~70% damage of the Melee LB to multiple targets in a place-able Circular AoE, Ranged does ~65% damage of the Melee LB to multiple targets in a 30y Linear AoE. Melee locks a player down for around 8 seconds, possibly a little more. Caster is locked down for an equitable time to melees, Ranged have a faster casting LB. Consider this when determining who should cast. Although the Ranged LB is proportionally less damage than the Casters LB, the extra skills you can cast because you're not animation locked for as long as the Caster come close to equalizing the damage. 8s is slightly more than 3 GCDs, not including possible double weaves means this is a large opportunity cost and frankly? Using Braver at the wrong time *is* a DPS loss. Rules of Thumb: 1). It is ALWAYS better for a Caster or Ranged to LB if the LB can hit more than 1 target which needs to die for the duty to progress. In ALL cases. 2). While running a Dungeon. Caster or Ranged LB as soon as its up and you have a trash pack. If done in this fashion you can usually get between 2 and 3 Skyshards/Big Shots per duty. And yes, 2 Skyshards or Big Shots hitting at least 2 targets per cast is greater potency than 1 Bladedance. 3). LB damage is calculated by average party weapon ilvl. LB damage is not effected by any cooldowns currently running on players. LBing while a buff is running is a frequently an opportunity cost and should be avoided unless fight mechanics otherwise demand the LB. 4). Shielding damage that would otherwise have killed a player is worth a significant amount of LB Gauge. Damage reductions do not build LB Gauge. For high-level play consider this when planning what mitigation to use for what damage.
Oh, and additional note, though not verified through potency numbers. I believe that using Healer LB3 is a DPS increase whenever you're raising 2 or more DPS, if the DPS will then have 2 minutes of whaling-on-boss time. It might be 3 or more. Melee LB3 is 9k potency and most GCD-PPS values range around 150 to 200 PPS. This does not account for oGCDs and buff PPS inflation. Weakness is a 15% reduction in mainstat which is one of the primary components to converting PPS into Damage values. TL;DR don't be afraid to Healer LB3. Many Melee hate using Melee LB3 anyways as our rotations have become very time-dependent with SB.

Oh i'll burn a AST LB3 with no shame if the party and my co-healer is dead and I'm running out of MP. I've carried many a Castrum Fluminis/Moon party that way while people keep learning mechanics and DPS keep dropping like flies, and are raise/mp sponges. That final push with the 'huddle' warning where you get slammed 3x in a row keeps taking people out in groups. I'll use it and a win is a win. Get lots of comms, that and it's my fave LB3 animation on AST
Lol nice. And yes a clear is a clear. No use of a limit break changes the loot table so it is a tool to be used in whatever way gets the clear. We can talk about what way may have sped it up in the future if people want to improve but for now just please please someone use it
@@defrain8 xdd thank you im kinda new to the game excuse my silly questions. but i have one more, please help me out. my allagan tomestone pieces are 2000/2000 is that the maximum a person can hold? i was said that it resets everyweek or so, and the tomestone pieces remain and i guess it reset recently as per the timer, but they're still 2000/2000. let's say i maxed them out again after the reset by chance. how do i check total allagan pieces of tomestone?
@@Yash-qe3bv you can watch your currencies at the bottom right selecting menu "character" then "currency" then "battle" in a pop-up window. idk will they reset per week cause i'm playing this game like month or so too :D
To use limit break you actually just use the limit break button. If you don’t have it on your bar, it’s in actions like you would look for adding sprint, a new skill etc. they have them sorted into groups so you can find thins a bit easier but that’s where you need to be. While you are there, check to see if you have been using your role abilities. Those are pretty good and I think some new players forget them.

soooo let me get this straight....its a final fantasy game but you can only use limit breaks in groups? so if your a solo player you dont get any limit break? thats just wrong...

I'm one of this players who want to save the LB (in a dungeon) until the final boss fight. Reason for this is so u can get the second level of the LB for the boss. It never happened for me that we get the second level if someone burned it at a trash mob... But I understand what you mean ^^
As long as you use it once I’m honestly fine. That would be a huge step. I would love a load screen message that tells us how many lbs go unused at the end of a dungeon every day. Such a waste.
One useful rule of thumb is that if you get a single LB bar before/during the first boss, it will usually fill again by the time you get to the third and you can fire away on that first one.
I'm the opposite, in dungeon the best is a caster limit break on the largest group you can find, preferably a double or triple pull. Caster LB1 on 7 targets will do way more damage than Melee LB2 on a boss and ultimately save more time.
It used to be a heal but is currently a line aoe so any time you can line up a few enemies would be fine. If the melee won’t use it or you don’t have one than a boss would be fine if the lb is maxed.
Literally the 3rd dungeon in the game and someone chewed me out for not using it. I didn't even know it EXISTED. I appreciate informing me, but making it my fault it didn't happen when i'm not even level 20? Fuck's sake, man. I hope this isn't a micro-chasm of the community, cuz if it is, i'm not spending my money for people to shove their middle finger in my face.

A fair number of Savage fights and the like require the 80% reduction of the level 3 tank lbs in order to survive certain attacks and phase transitions at ilevel.
Yes. Progression often requires healer or tank until I level and execution rises to cover it and maybe even then still is done that way for a very long time but that is very fight specific.
"use the limit breaks!" ....aha, tell that to the elitist melee kunts that magically reserved the right to LB and nobody else besides them gets to use it. As a black mage im never even allowed to use it, there has not been a single instance in shadowbringers where an AOE LB was needed, not to mention it has less potency then melee snowflakes LB, and to add insult to injury the meteor blinds everyone's screen. It looks amazing and i appreciate the eye candy effort, but this decision to make melee LB the strongest just threw all their hard work on caster LB VFX in the trash bin, we arent allowed to use it, period.
I've been playing rdm lately, it annoys me so much people hold lb3 through out the whole fight til the end or never use it, such wasted damage, which left me no choice to use it or lose it. Then you got people yelling omg the flash, or you blinded me, well that is too bad because they should yell at the other dps in the party, or complain to SE to change the animation instead. Conclusion if you know there is not gonna be a chance of party wipe next minute use lb3 please! please! before the rdm had to use it. It is not the rdm fault but the rest of the dps in your party. lol
@@pyro5159 your situation may be different than my experience, but I seen too many people holding lb3 too long when they could got another already. If you talking about static group those people should know better and you won't see a much of waste damage as I had seen.

I find sometimes the LB 3 does nothing to a boss, like the first boss of Ridorana Lighthouse, it just does nothing sometimes... not sure why. - and I'm a Ninja.

The most common example otherwise that I can remember was Cloud of Darkness when the raid screwed up the cloud vacuum mechanic. Falls under the "you messed up, now this will save you from a wipe" category.
Just got out of a raid where people where upset that i didn't use a limit break and i'm new to the game and had no idea what they where talking about. Glad you posted this video otherwise i would still not know because no one even tried to explain it to me.
At what point (during a fight) do you think one should use LB in 4 mans (or light party) dungeons, personally I use at about 10% of the boss health unless I think the fight demands something else, for DPS and never while tanking or healing as a rule of thumb that is. That said I agree that full LB bar is a waste, if not used.
Honestly as soon as it’s full you should ask when you can use it. If a major boss adds a bar and resets it you can even pull with a level 2 from a dps and have the tank taunt off them so t doesn’t get wasted because it resets when the encounter begins (the pull)
As a caster, if I'm familiar with the dungeon, I'll use it on a big pull like the one in the middle of Hell's Lid, which you'll sometimes get a tank verbally requesting it if you're not using it. If I'm on summoner, I'll also try to time my rotation to sync with that so that I can Bahamut right after to finish everything off.
Hi I just started playing about a month ago. Love being a whm and saving the team from the brink of death using healing wind in the most dramatic fashion.
When I was progressing through MSQ as a PLD... I kept getting yelled at. So, I shyed away from it... but now some are telling me to LB as a SAM now, I forget half the time to equip it now... since I'm used to PLD. I just wanted to do a cool move, and didn't know. I thought they were just character based, not team based.
Team: Dies like flies DPS: Uses LB3 Me, a Healer: Am I a joke to u? : D ?? Just went through a Seiryu ex a little sth like that. Snek boi isn’t even close to die yet.

I've been playing everyday for 3 God damned months and I am just now learning about this. There really should have been a tutorial quest about this because I missed the little pop up active help that appeared and vanished quickly when I was struggling in the first duty.
i thank you for this video, i've been trying to beat it into other dps mains' head that they should be using limit break at appropriate times lol most i've seen waste it at a mere 20% or 15% which is a real shame cause it drags out the fight much longer than it should be lol at 10% would be a great time for a melee to use upon a boss or single target as the sheer amount of damage it dishes out brings the fight close to a closing to where the group can burn the rest of the fight. and as for caster or ranged they should ideally conserve it for when the field has multiple enemies which need to go down simultaneously or the fight wipes. and as you mentioned healer's should only use a lb3 if the situation has gone beyond having 0 dps doing damage and the save is needed.
Ya I think people are so worried they will do it wrong we end up with lbs that go wasted at the end or we let it sit at cap the whole instance and could have had more than just the one. Think of the hundreds if not thousands that get wasted every day lol.
I'm a tank main. I use LB3 in the extreme trials if the rest of the party goes down because I think it's neat and if I don't use it then it'll reset after I wipe. If you're in an extreme fight or raid and the whole party goes down except the tank(s) then ask them to use it so you can see it. The Paladin lb3 is pretty cool but the defense buff it gives last for like 7 to 10 seconds or something like that.
How to limitbreak, here are the biggest mistakes you see. The limitbreak icon should always go on your hotbars once you get into dungeons. If you are a ranged dps and there is ONE boss, let the melee dps or caster do limitbreak they do more damage. If you are in a relatively new 24 man dungeon don't touch the limit break unless you are a healer and 50% or more of the party is dead. Make sure you are in healing range of everyone or they won't get the raise.
So how does it work? does only one person get to use it in the party? who decides to use it? like is there a vote system for it or something? or is it more of a first come first serve kind of thing? i just started the game and i dont want to step on anyones toes...
It's shared so you only get one use of it, whoever starts using it first gets to cast it. Unless everyone agrees or calls it out in the chat, it's up to each player to decide whether to use it or not. Use your judgement to determine if you should be using it, experience will help with that.
I agree with this. Ideally you want a melee dps to use it as soon as it is capped for Savage content. Since you can build a second level 3 or at least a level 2 before the boss enrages.
The biggest thing it that people are so hung up discussing which lb they want that we end up with none. I agree if you have a static assign it to who makes sense and raid lead call for it but otherwise just burn it.
i play ranged dps and our lb sucks unless you are taking out trash. makes me crazy when people are screaming "limit break!" at me for a boss with no adds, its worthless. its also linear, another advantage casters have. unless tanks are going to line stuff up.
Most tanks have whole phases where they don’t move so those are good times to adjust and fire away. The big thing is a less optimal lb 3 is a lot better than no lb at all. And if someone messes up placement or timing only practice makes that better is practice. So go for it!!
Really ? I thought they were the same as they're both meant to be used on pack anyway. And what if it's a single target and we're all range and caster dps ? Who should cast it ? It's not so important on simple dungeon, but well when it's new ones, sometimes the battle gets hard on the end and a little more damages can save lives xD

Ya it can take a little practice but that is learned over use not prior to your first time hitting the button. So use that limit break!!! Lol ;)

I'm a new player. Just finished first dungeon as THM. I wanted to use it because it was just sitting at full for the entire instance but clicking on it did nothing and I couldn't find a keybind for it. I came across this video looking for how to use it. Thanks.

Same thing happened to me in my first few dungeons (started playing very recently). I felt like a scrub because I was in the final fight on a pugilist (like I said still VERY new) and since I was the melee DPS i was told to Limit Break and had no idea how to use it :/ this video helps a hell of a lot!
This isnt bad guide for new players I like it !!! You heavily underrated LB healer 1 and 2 as well as tank LB 1 and 2. (Vuln checks, Infirmiry, Silences, range of heals, Hp penalty , Dammage that cant be healed through, Healers dead are all situations which this applies) min i level sync runs put these limit breaks on par with their dps counterparts.
I'm lv. 73 and have not once even touched limit break :'> never knew what it did, so.. Oof

In most new trials and svg people like keeping lb for healers in case we mesd up , until at least 30% of boss HP
One time I was doing Ridorana Lighthouse as WHM and one party completely wiped, one party was down to 4 or 5 and my party was completely dead besides a SAM and a SCH. We waited so long for the LB3 only for the SAM to use it within milliseconds of the bar being full. At 39%. The entire alliance just sat there in disbelief as the SCH yelled at him.

I feel like they should change the system, make it something more teamwork-focused. Either something the whole party has to channel together, or maybe make it weaker but once someone uses an LB you have 5 seconds to use your own before it expires, or something like that. That'd make it feel less like one person was hogging the whole bar!

I've been playing for 2 months and got all the way to stormblood without knowing what limitbreaks are, the game does 0 effort to explain it as far as im concerned, I had to actively find this video to actually know what it was to begin with.
Same, The only reason I even knew to look it up is because I was watching another video to see how hard a Dungeon was going to be, and they mentioned it, I am lvl 55 and Just now put it on my bar, I had no clue.
The game actually does, but its just a tipp that appears once you unlock it. So overreading it happens.
What I hate is when everyone is dead but the healer(usually me) and a dps;
And even though the boss is at half health, that one dps is going to use lb3 thinking...well idk wtf they're thinking but this needs to stop.
I'm incredibly new to the game so i'm trying to find when are good times to use limit breaks once I get to that point. Part of me wants to save limit breaks for whoever does the most damage with them. But I also know they should be saved for healers to rez the party. Can I get some guidelines that weren't really covered in this video?

The important thing to note is that the Physical Ranged LB will always hit its intended target whereas the Caster DPS can potentially miss any or all it's intended targets as it's a placed AoE.
That’s interesting. I thought things could still dodge out of physical. As a tank I always try to keep target still for that.
Work To Game the best example of this is during PvP.
If you go into frontlines as BRD or MCH and limitbreak/adrenalin rush an enemy you'll always turn to face your victim unless they LoS or stun you.
Give it a try, you only have to be Level 30 on a job to try PvP and you'll always have a chance to LB unless your going out of your way to avoid fighting.
I am a NIN main. I use limit break 3 all the time. It is so awesome and my party thinks it is so cool to watch me limit break.

When I was on my first week of the game someone told me "don't use lb like that when there's a lot of monsters with the boss" but it was pretty clear that they were trash mobs (haukke manor normal adds), the boss lost 12% of its health and got to 8%.
I knew that casters have AoE lb, but they weren't using it, but I'm STILL not sure I was right to use it! (and it's been almost 2 months now) I mean I think I was because the other person didn't use it.
Because of this interaction I now wait until someone calls for lb but generally it's too late too :(.

I used my first level 3 limit break last night in a level 50 raid boss (cloud of darkness?) as a Red Mage.
I felt super giddy after using it, these are fun!
One more thing, the dmg is based on the avarage Item Level of your current light oder full Party.
So if a Ninja with ILVL300 uses it, the dmg will be the same if a Dragoon with iLVL500 uses it, since they are both mellee dps and the avarage ILVL should be around 400.
And sometimes you need it for a specific mechanic, like you said, Fire Nails that will wipeout the party if not killed asap or to be able to ignore a certain mechanic by simply using the Tank LB. Its best to get familiar with the fights and dungeons a little bit in advance and maybe just ask your group beforehand, if there is a certain point to use a LB
That’s a fair thought as long as you know that both would use it. I would think that means the 500 plays more and would be more comfortable burning it?
As a new player this is by far the most mystifying aspect of the game, theirs no tutorial, quest, or dialogue for it you basically just have to notice the limit break gauge and ask yourself "huh wonder what that does" and I bet plenty of players stop right there and never figure it out.

GameDiario I had this problem too starting out as a summoner as well. That circle represents the AoE of your LB. once the circle shows up, you move it into the position you want, and then hit the confirm button, whatever it is for you (I play using a ps4 controller, so for me it would be the X button). Then you just wait for the cast to finish
I saw the limit bar and I was like HOW DO I USES YOU!!!! I didn't have the icon in my hot bar 🤦♂
So many people burn healer lb3 on the Construct fight in lighthouse...only to die on the next laser phase.

Ran across this video. A couple things I'd like to point out.
LB is best described proportionally. Melee lb does 100% damage to a single target, Caster does ~70% damage of the Melee LB to multiple targets in a place-able Circular AoE, Ranged does ~65% damage of the Melee LB to multiple targets in a 30y Linear AoE. Melee locks a player down for around 8 seconds, possibly a little more. Caster is locked down for an equitable time to melees, Ranged have a faster casting LB. Consider this when determining who should cast. Although the Ranged LB is proportionally less damage than the Casters LB, the extra skills you can cast because you're not animation locked for as long as the Caster come close to equalizing the damage. 8s is slightly more than 3 GCDs, not including possible double weaves means this is a large opportunity cost and frankly? Using Braver at the wrong time *is* a DPS loss.
Rules of Thumb:
1). It is ALWAYS better for a Caster or Ranged to LB if the LB can hit more than 1 target which needs to die for the duty to progress. In ALL cases.
2). While running a Dungeon. Caster or Ranged LB as soon as its up and you have a trash pack. If done in this fashion you can usually get between 2 and 3 Skyshards/Big Shots per duty. And yes, 2 Skyshards or Big Shots hitting at least 2 targets per cast is greater potency than 1 Bladedance.
3). LB damage is calculated by average party weapon ilvl. LB damage is not effected by any cooldowns currently running on players. LBing while a buff is running is a frequently an opportunity cost and should be avoided unless fight mechanics otherwise demand the LB.
4). Shielding damage that would otherwise have killed a player is worth a significant amount of LB Gauge. Damage reductions do not build LB Gauge. For high-level play consider this when planning what mitigation to use for what damage.
Oh, and additional note, though not verified through potency numbers.
I believe that using Healer LB3 is a DPS increase whenever you're raising 2 or more DPS, if the DPS will then have 2 minutes of whaling-on-boss time. It might be 3 or more. Melee LB3 is 9k potency and most GCD-PPS values range around 150 to 200 PPS. This does not account for oGCDs and buff PPS inflation. Weakness is a 15% reduction in mainstat which is one of the primary components to converting PPS into Damage values.
TL;DR don't be afraid to Healer LB3. Many Melee hate using Melee LB3 anyways as our rotations have become very time-dependent with SB.
I cannot wait to use Vermillion Scourge, Doom of the Living, Gun Metal Soul, Last Bastion, Pulse of life, whatever Sage's is gonna be called

Im a lvl80 BLM, not gonna say how long I’ve been playing but I’ve never used an LB and someone had gotten a little upset with me because I hadn’t used it, it’s now in my hotbar
Oh i'll burn a AST LB3 with no shame if the party and my co-healer is dead and I'm running out of MP. I've carried many a Castrum Fluminis/Moon party that way while people keep learning mechanics and DPS keep dropping like flies, and are raise/mp sponges. That final push with the 'huddle' warning where you get slammed 3x in a row keeps taking people out in groups. I'll use it and a win is a win. Get lots of comms, that and it's my fave LB3 animation on AST
Lol nice. And yes a clear is a clear. No use of a limit break changes the loot table so it is a tool to be used in whatever way gets the clear. We can talk about what way may have sped it up in the future if people want to improve but for now just please please someone use it

my allagan tomestone pieces are 2000/2000 is that the maximum a person can hold? i was said that it resets everyweek or so, and the tomestone pieces remain and i guess it reset recently as per the timer, but they're still 2000/2000. let's say i maxed them out again after the reset by chance. how do i check total allagan pieces of tomestone?
@@Yash-qe3bv you can watch your currencies at the bottom right selecting menu "character" then "currency" then "battle" in a pop-up window. idk will they reset per week cause i'm playing this game like month or so too :D
To use limit break you actually just use the limit break button. If you don’t have it on your bar, it’s in actions like you would look for adding sprint, a new skill etc. they have them sorted into groups so you can find thins a bit easier but that’s where you need to be. While you are there, check to see if you have been using your role abilities. Those are pretty good and I think some new players forget them.

Was totally disappointed with the limit break system needing to be in a party to use it sucks.
I'm one of this players who want to save the LB (in a dungeon) until the final boss fight. Reason for this is so u can get the second level of the LB for the boss. It never happened for me that we get the second level if someone burned it at a trash mob...

As long as you use it once I’m honestly fine. That would be a huge step. I would love a load screen message that tells us how many lbs go unused at the end of a dungeon every day. Such a waste.
One useful rule of thumb is that if you get a single LB bar before/during the first boss, it will usually fill again by the time you get to the third and you can fire away on that first one.
I'm the opposite, in dungeon the best is a caster limit break on the largest group you can find, preferably a double or triple pull. Caster LB1 on 7 targets will do way more damage than Melee LB2 on a boss and ultimately save more time.
Just use it. The worst of all of them is when the dungeon ends and it’s still sitting there and has been unused for a while.
and where do u need bard limit break?
It used to be a heal but is currently a line aoe so any time you can line up a few enemies would be fine. If the melee won’t use it or you don’t have one than a boss would be fine if the lb is maxed.

A fair number of Savage fights and the like require the 80% reduction of the level 3 tank lbs in order to survive certain attacks and phase transitions at ilevel.
Yes. Progression often requires healer or tank until I level and execution rises to cover it and maybe even then still is done that way for a very long time but that is very fight specific.

....aha, tell that to the elitist melee kunts that magically reserved the right to LB and nobody else besides them gets to use it. As a black mage im never even allowed to use it, there has not been a single instance in shadowbringers where an AOE LB was needed, not to mention it has less potency then melee snowflakes LB, and to add insult to injury the meteor blinds everyone's screen. It looks amazing and i appreciate the eye candy effort, but this decision to make melee LB the strongest just threw all their hard work on caster LB VFX in the trash bin, we arent allowed to use it, period.

I've been playing rdm lately, it annoys me so much people hold lb3 through out the whole fight til the end or never use it, such wasted damage, which left me no choice to use it or lose it. Then you got people yelling omg the flash, or you blinded me, well that is too bad because they should yell at the other dps in the party, or complain to SE to change the animation instead. Conclusion if you know there is not gonna be a chance of party wipe next minute use lb3 please! please! before the rdm had to use it. It is not the rdm fault but the rest of the dps in your party. lol

I never had a useful tank LB outside A13. They should just change em to be more useful. It's shame I never really get to see them.

The most common example otherwise that I can remember was Cloud of Darkness when the raid screwed up the cloud vacuum mechanic. Falls under the "you messed up, now this will save you from a wipe" category.

At what point (during a fight) do you think one should use LB in 4 mans (or light party) dungeons, personally I use at about 10% of the boss health unless I think the fight demands something else, for DPS and never while tanking or healing as a rule of thumb that is. That said I agree that full LB bar is a waste, if not used.
Honestly as soon as it’s full you should ask when you can use it. If a major boss adds a bar and resets it you can even pull with a level 2 from a dps and have the tank taunt off them so t doesn’t get wasted because it resets when the encounter begins (the pull)
As a caster, if I'm familiar with the dungeon, I'll use it on a big pull like the one in the middle of Hell's Lid, which you'll sometimes get a tank verbally requesting it if you're not using it. If I'm on summoner, I'll also try to time my rotation to sync with that so that I can Bahamut right after to finish everything off.

Hi I just started playing about a month ago. Love being a whm and saving the team from the brink of death using healing wind in the most dramatic fashion.
When I was progressing through MSQ as a PLD... I kept getting yelled at. So, I shyed away from it... but now some are telling me to LB as a SAM now, I forget half the time to equip it now... since I'm used to PLD. I just wanted to do a cool move, and didn't know. I thought they were just character based, not team based.

Ok when you are new! you dont know what you are looking for! after you show the General action, you fail to show explain were the Limit Break is, what you are actually looking for. having watched this vid more than once I am still no better off other than the tab button.
I've been playing everyday for 3 God damned months and I am just now learning about this. There really should have been a tutorial quest about this because I missed the little pop up active help that appeared and vanished quickly when I was struggling in the first duty.
People won't use limit break because it affects their precious parse
i thank you for this video, i've been trying to beat it into other dps mains' head that they should be using limit break at appropriate times lol most i've seen waste it at a mere 20% or 15% which is a real shame cause it drags out the fight much longer than it should be lol at 10% would be a great time for a melee to use upon a boss or single target as the sheer amount of damage it dishes out brings the fight close to a closing to where the group can burn the rest of the fight. and as for caster or ranged they should ideally conserve it for when the field has multiple enemies which need to go down simultaneously or the fight wipes. and as you mentioned healer's should only use a lb3 if the situation has gone beyond having 0 dps doing damage and the save is needed.
Ya I think people are so worried they will do it wrong we end up with lbs that go wasted at the end or we let it sit at cap the whole instance and could have had more than just the one. Think of the hundreds if not thousands that get wasted every day lol.

I have never seen a tank use the LB3, ever. I've seen every LB3 exept the tanks up close and it makes me sad...
I'm a tank main. I use LB3 in the extreme trials if the rest of the party goes down because I think it's neat and if I don't use it then it'll reset after I wipe.
If you're in an extreme fight or raid and the whole party goes down except the tank(s) then ask them to use it so you can see it.
The Paladin lb3 is pretty cool but the defense buff it gives last for like 7 to 10 seconds or something like that.

Once it hits level 3 limitbreak, I auto click the limitbreak button..
How to limitbreak, here are the biggest mistakes you see. The limitbreak icon should always go on your hotbars once you get into dungeons. If you are a ranged dps and there is ONE boss, let the melee dps or caster do limitbreak they do more damage. If you are in a relatively new 24 man dungeon don't touch the limit break unless you are a healer and 50% or more of the party is dead. Make sure you are in healing range of everyone or they won't get the raise.
So how does it work? does only one person get to use it in the party? who decides to use it? like is there a vote system for it or something? or is it more of a first come first serve kind of thing? i just started the game and i dont want to step on anyones toes...
It's shared so you only get one use of it, whoever starts using it first gets to cast it. Unless everyone agrees or calls it out in the chat, it's up to each player to decide whether to use it or not. Use your judgement to determine if you should be using it, experience will help with that.
I agree with this. Ideally you want a melee dps to use it as soon as it is capped for Savage content. Since you can build a second level 3 or at least a level 2 before the boss enrages.
You forgot to mention that caster lb is stronger than the range dps
The biggest thing it that people are so hung up discussing which lb they want that we end up with none. I agree if you have a static assign it to who makes sense and raid lead call for it but otherwise just burn it.
i play ranged dps and our lb sucks unless you are taking out trash. makes me crazy when people are screaming "limit break!" at me for a boss with no adds, its worthless. its also linear, another advantage casters have. unless tanks are going to line stuff up.
Most tanks have whole phases where they don’t move so those are good times to adjust and fire away. The big thing is a less optimal lb 3 is a lot better than no lb at all. And if someone messes up placement or timing only practice makes that better is practice. So go for it!!
Really ? I thought they were the same as they're both meant to be used on pack anyway. And what if it's a single target and we're all range and caster dps ? Who should cast it ? It's not so important on simple dungeon, but well when it's new ones, sometimes the battle gets hard on the end and a little more damages can save lives xD

im still freshly new to this game and when they throwed me that small tutorial at the corner of my screen telling me that there is such a thing as limit break, but they never really explained how or when to use it so i never touched it, then i heard theres bunch of different strategies for using it so that made me even more confused and im just thinking not to use it at all xD,
