Thanks for the ride through some of my old neighborhood. I’m 80 years old and grew up on Duane Avenue. Back in the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s, Hamilton Hill was a decent, working class neighborhood. My! How time changed this area😢 very sad.

Moved to Duane Ave in 71' and stayed till about 82'. I've walked every one of those streets to hang with friends. Moved out to the Fonda area. It hurts my feelings to see what Hamilton Hill has become. Mont Pleasant and Goose Hill are no better. It was lower middle class when I lived there. You'd get jumped every now and again, but nothing like it is today. We faught with our fists back then. Gunfire was quite rare. I wouldn't walk those streets today.

We knew to stay away from Strong, Wylie, Grant Ave. area unless we were looking for trouble.

Another Upstate New York bustling center of commerce and growth. I wish I could move back...

Used to love riding my bike down that hill at the end.. Man. I had to pray no one was coming up the street.
Poor Schenectady, went from low middle class to a complete dump. So Sad. Why not show Crane street to really drive the point home? In the 70's Crane st. was great. Library, pharmacy, OTB, card shop, Bakeries, Cumbys, Kleen cut market, Bowling alley (Mt Pleasant lanes), Pizza shop or 2, Electric library in the 80's. Just so nice. Now it is a complete disgrace. Such a complete picture of what a ghetto is. Drive down the hill at the end of crane and look at the houses. Look at where I grew up on 5th Ave.
    So sad
