There are so many contradictions in the ghetto, I just never understood it; late model cars and busted homes, HOUSES not buildings, so Im sure everybody is not renting but owning, so why do ghetto neighborhoods stay looking this way?? The neighborhood is fine, its the people who live in them and run them is why they look this way. We gotta want better to do better.
Troy is experiencing a renaissance as we speak. This video is of North Troy/Lansingburgh. Gang culture, drug addiction, and generational poverty are 3 major reasons the area can't get its act together.
Why didn't you go where the real hood is in that part in 7th and glenn.troy is trying to clean up it's look it doesn't look like that anymore there have been improvements thanks to Troy's revitalizing it's homes.
South Troy and North Central should be their own city and Burg should go back to being its own town. Way back in 1900 Burg had its own town council and budget. It may allow the area to restore itself if the cost of running the city was lower.
There are a lot of Organizations helping getting Young people off the streets and trying to help out the community, some of the organizations are The Sanctuary For Independent Media, Troy Snug, Team Hero etc. etc.
For example, The Sanctuary For Independent Media has a summer program where around 20 kids 14-20 are paid to basically learn, they recently got a grant from the DEC to create a citizen’s science center which many schools in the area already agreed to send students there and many youth already come to the building, You drove past the Building and Community Gardens they own, it’s a block before 101st

And even Troy Bike Rescue offers a place where youth can come in every Tuesday to get them off the streets
