@@TwistedMacGyversTrainsjust watching this again 😂, but I saw you had to turn up the track power. Could you use that to operate conventional locomotives?
I had to watch multiple videos on base 3 because this is my first command control trying to lash up lionchief plus 2.0 was fun but I finally figured it out after watching several videos lol
Fantastic job on the vid Frank!! Man, this will help so many people!! That is awesome that it also provides track power control with the use of the ZWL!! Killer feature! Also, I think Lionel makes overlays for the Cab remote. They provide the functions alongside the corresponding buttons. Welcome to the world of command control…it’s a dangerous place $$$ 🤣😂😅😎
Thanks Frank I watched the video. Definitely some steps I missed. It’s a busy weekend. Not sure when I will get to this. But this is great. I wasn’t able to find a video like this. Ken
It is a little tricky to set up but I think it's worth the effort! Lionel has a customer service number to help you set it up now. It’s easier than ever. They have made many improvements since I received mine. Thanks so much for watching Al! 😊
My brother thank you so much for this. I had also spent hours trying to do this, but choosing wrong net works, or maybe it was cycling the router after setting ssid. I finally got mine connected to the 2.4hz band. Thanks for this explanation
Nice job Frank explaining how to wire the base 3 and its functions. I'm using the Legacy Cab 2 System. Not Shour if I will upgrade to the Base 3 System. The base 3 system has functions I do not have on my layout. If I do decide to upgrade. I will review your vide. Nick
Sooo nicely done. THANK YOU! 1). IoT is abreveation for “Internet of Things”. So it’s not LoT. 2). How are you interfacing with the Cab3 app on your Mac? Us Mac users would REALLY benefit from your experiences in a Mac environment where so much is only hosted on a Windows system. My main complaint is the LEGACY Utility being Windows only. A video highlighting your experiences using a Mac would be fantastic!
Thank you so much for clearing that up for me. I’ve always thought it was Lot! 😆 I am willing to help anyway I can. This is why I made this vide to help our train community. Are you asking me how I installed the app on my iMac? Frank
@@TwistedMacGyversTrains yes! Understanding how to install and use an iPad app on a Mac would be great. I read about it years back, but never seen the procedure.
For your legacy diesel, Take the cab 1l and press and hold set(set button is under the little door on the bottom) while you hold set press the horn button, this will activate Quilling horn on the cab 1l remote. I saw how much you liked the horn and turning the volume up, just thought you would really like it when able to quill the horn. it says in instructions this step is necessary for each Legacy engine. good luck Frank.
The cab 3 is the heart of the system. Think of the remote and app as limbs like the human body. Your transformer is your legs. I hope my terminology helped you understand how the system works. It is truly amazing! 👍
I used the WPS button on the front. If your router has a WPS button it’s super easy to connect the your WiFi. Just push the WPS on the base and the WPS on the router and it will connect in less than 10 seconds.

I always forget that when calling the locomotives up. Thank you for the information. I still have to learn how to make a lash up. I’m really enjoying the cab 3. 👍

I programmed my Visonline box car using the Cab 3 app. All the feature work for me. Did you change the “ motive type “ to “ freight sounds” or passenger car “?
You have to place the switch for the network in the upright position so that it’s on AP. AP stands for access point. This means that the cab three will have its own access point. Then you connect your computer to the Lionel cab three wireless. Once this step has been completed you can then open the cab3 app on your computer and click on the cab 3 tab at the top of the app. The cab 3 app should now be connected to your base 3. Frank
