Nice video. Approx 3500rpm is max torque and 4000 is max hp. 3800 is apparently the sweet spot. I’ve just bought a 65 plate gtd and love it, but hanging onto the revs over 4K and it runs out of puff 😅
I had an Audi a6 2.0 tdi 190bhp then bought a Audi s3 in 2021 and the diesel Audi was ok upto 70mph and after that the power wasn’t good after 70mph but the petrol s3 power response is incredible and next year I may buy a golf 1.5tsi instead
Great video Mike, I recognised the Jack and Jill windmills! I have driven an e-Golf, it was as you would expect very smooth, but I would not buy an EV that has been basically retrofitted with the electrical components, I would rather buy an EV that has been designed from the ground up. e-Golf is no longer in production with the MK8, just GTE (hybrid).

Another great video Mike !! Definitely Diesel for me I’ve heard about some problems with jaguar electric vehicles being stuck with acceleration on and no brakes I don’t like Evs at all 😵💫

To get the best times change gear at 4k rpm. Theres not much point in taking it higher as your out of the torque band so your times will be slower.

I agree. If you check out any Dyno charts of the GTD the torque and power fall off a cliff from 4k rpm. 2.5k-4k is where the power is.

There was a bloke that got stuck at over 100mph in an electric jag on the m62 & had to call the police to ram him to stop it
He was arrested for dangerous driving, the driver made the whole thing up, there was absolutely no failure of the brakes.
