伊勢国桑名の刀工。
文亀頃の称は右衛門尉。
戦国時代において、最も切れ味に優れる刀を作った
刀工一門、その初代とされる。
（貞治の村正を初代に応永まで三代が続くとする江戸期の資料もあるが、確認できる最古の村正一門の作刀は文亀元年のもの。このため、本作では文亀年間の村正が初代とした）
『英霊剣豪七番勝負』では抑止力が遣わした英霊として、白紙化地球においては『異星の神』によって召喚された英霊として登場。
