Also, the Whore of Babylon stated that (At least Proto) Merlin is a beast of the planet, and no matter what, seems to release Cath Palug, who either becomes Primate Murder of Beast IV.

That is very very sus, hinting that Merlin has an alternative nature. Many people want him dead and find him scary. Beasts are born the progression of Humans, and are the result of their actions. Despite Merlin being half human, he's watched the progression of man, as well as interfered in it many times, inadvertently (or perhaps advertently), bringing destruction/ruin to whosever life or kingdom he interferes with. A Beast of the Planet, is perhaps, a beast born from the spawn of the earth itself, but due to its status as being a part of the Earth itself in some way + the place it is maturing, is not considered a threat to humanity by the counter force. While bearing a human-like sin, trying to protect or show its love for humanity in some way, fashion, or form. Merlin could very well ,unknowingly, be a Juvenile beast.

Basically, the moment Real Body Merlin dies , is the moment he is immediately called to be Grand Caster
iirc in the official reference book, merlin was stated as the grand caster, that is why some people said merlin is grand caster now

My understanding is that he is, in fact, the Grand Caster. This obviously should not be possible since he is still alive, but he also should be impossible to summon, yet here he is chilling in Chaldea. Merlin just cheats at everything.

He can be summoned as a Servant , even while alive , because he have Independent Manifestation as a personal skill.

Yes, but he lost his spot. Merlin still isn't a grand caster though and hasn't ever been summoned as one as far as I know (just a very powerful caster class servant.) He, much like his prototype self, is a grand caster CANIDATE
