If you race XC then this is the dream fork - but can we talk about the colourways for the 'Ultimate' builds in the RockShox range? This Blue just doesn't shout top of the range - and it won't work for a lot of the teams (which means they will go custom colour) - it makes a lot more sense to 'own' a colour (like Fox Orange) - so you can look across the range and know the RED one (in Boxxer, Lyrik, Pike, SID)... is the ULTIMATE one. Just my views - great video by the team!

my mountain bike is a cannondale scalpel hardtail, equipped with the last generation of this. it's due a service, but that bike just RIPS through trails. makes me smile every time i ride. i did remove the lockout cause it wasn't worth the bar clutter tho

im rooting for them to get their quality back up to where it was. I have a '23 Lyric and in dealing with a few issues I found a lot of others facing similar situations. I seem to have gotten it sorted (fingers crossed) but none of my Fox suspension bits have ever had issues out of the box. If a Xc bike fit my terrain I would still give a SID a shot though
The original Sid 35 that came out a few years ago had bushing play problems. Nearly every review I saw of a bike with a Sid 35 had to be repaired due to excessive bushing play. Hopefully, the new Sid 35 doesn't have this problem.

Cols, I'm riding Trek Top Fuel 9.7 with Fox Rhythm 34 120, coming from factory. Thinking of changing it for new SID and deciding if to chose Ultimate or Select from 2024 lineup. Im not attending any races, just riding trails and majority of time in dry and "kind of XC" conditions (forests, gravel, etc). Considering weight is not a priority, which would you choose ?
It’s a nice blue. Seems more modern but doesn’t have the same boldness of the prior blue or fox orange. Thought they were going to make the blue a thing. Guess not. My 2021 is in black though :)

I had a DT Swiss fork back in about 2004 where it locked out compressed, so that you got a steeper head angle for better climbing. No idea if this Rockshox does that, but it would be a good idea if it does.
I'm curious if this three positions controller is push-to-lock or push-to-unlock? Can I control it with the squid lock of my Orbea bike? (three positions, push-to-unlock)? If yes, it might be an alluring update of my Fox fork.
Wonder if you ever got an answer? I don’t like the twist lock and would prefer to install a thumb lever option for the 3 positions have you tested any?
@@tokeco no, I didn''t get any answer. But digging a bit about it, I'm not sure if Rockshox and Fox have the same pull for their forks. So, it might be irrelevant if the three positions match, if it's indeed a push to unlock... if the cable pull is not the same. There's always an option to replace both the fork and the rear shock, but I'm happy with the shock, why spend more...
OMG ! That bike, the Mondraker, (spelling) looks perfect for my local trails ! I’d stiffen up the rear to the point you could call it a soft tail...put the Bafang on it with an IGH... And here’s the real blasphemy; 27.5 front with a 26” rear, and the 110mm fork. Oh, and dark blue rims
I believe Doddy had asked the Rockshox guys when he was at the races, and they said it will not come out this year (He said it in a gmbn tech show a few weeks ago). So most likely in 2024.
This is some serious tech put on these new SiD and even lighter that the previous model. But that Grip shifter is kinda old they could have make it a lever shifter.
I think the reason for bringing back the grip shift is to make the actions more deliberate. Left hand, you push a lever for the dropper. Twist for suspension. Instead of bouncing between levers. I think it’s a solid repurposing of a yesteryear technology.

The picture is a bit deceiving - there is WAY less space in the center of the frame than it shows. The suspension connection takes up the entire thing. So I needed to attach my battery on the bottom of the frame and my controller on the top. Instructions for assembly were lacking but honestly it wasn't too hard to figure out even though I have very little bike knowledge. Watched some youtube videos on adjusting the disk brakes but that was it. Still, I am loving it and very happy with the purchase.

I know suspension can be fantastic, depending on how its set up and what equipment a person has. But at some point, isn't everything just incremental, not revolutionary?
I think the biggest room for improvement is in longevity and longer maintenance cycles. Imagine only needing to refresh only a few times a year instead of dozens
@LastAphelion I know what it means. A lot of people I know just ride until something breaks, though. One guy has a 2016 Cannondale Habit, and the fork/shock have never been serviced...

I have always wondered if you lock out your suspension does the fork return to its full travel height or stay at the point you locked it out.

I got an old Marzocchi bomber that does that. I think the ones that stay compressed were marketed as travel-adjustable maybe.

Manufacturers should use easier understandable nomenclatur. If you look at the line up of Fox or RS, it is a big-big mess.
