Welcome to my channel! This is a music reaction channel. For the longest time, I've loved creating content on the internet. I started off with a gaming channel right here on TH-cam, which eventually turned into a Twitch gaming channel, but as time has gone on I've evolved into doing other things on TH-cam. For years now I've wanted to create a music channel on TH-cam, and recently just figured "why not?", so it’s time to give this a go! Give me any suggestion you have for music reactions, and I will do my best to get around to them. As music has fallen further out of my life, I figured this would be a great time to get reintroduced to music.
If you enjoy this video and my reactions make sure you subscribe to the channel, like the video and comment down below which video you would like to see me react to next.

@@UnhandyCandy280One of the true "just put in the CD and hit play" albums of the late-80s and into the 1990s.
Prog Rock bands had "album experiencer" fans who demanded listening start-to-end, or feel the experience is ruined, or meaning is lost...and though I agree with 3 Pink Floyd records qualifying - if my mindset is amenable to that type of journey - it's great to have our own example in an unrelated genre! It's a proof of conceptual clarity, thematic cohesion, and creative intention translating perfectly to the recording...right, Old(er than me) Heads? Did I say it well-enough? lol!

It's like your working through my CD/LP collection. I broke up with a girlfriend shortly after seeing Depeche Mode in concert in early 90s. The chorus to this song always brings me to that moment. DM's progression from their first album (look what we can do with synthesizers!) to polished music like this is simply amazing. Quintessential 80s band and sound.

Oh man, as an 80s teen, Depeche Mode was my favorite band! I even went through a DM phase dressing all in black and dramatic while I danced.
I can't even tell you which is my favorite song of theirs, all of them. Can I say all of them? It's all of them.

Yay! One of my favorite songs from an amazing album...loved this reaction😊♥ I agree, hauntingly beautiful😊 Makes sense that it would make you think of the Cure...they aren't far apart in terms of genre. I would recommend "World in My Eyes" or "Waiting for the Night" (both also from 'Violator'), or "Never Let Me Down Again."

In my land (Valencia, Spain), an icon of the party in Spain and part of Europe, in the '80s and part of the '90s, a large number of groups of varied styles were heard: From The Smiths to Front 242, passing by The Psychedelic Furs or The Systers Of Mercy.
From New Order to The Watervoys, passing through Kraftwerk or Nitzer Ebb.
From Perter Murphy to Love And Rockets through The Cult or Icehouse.
But without a doubt the 3 big groups of the '80s, the ones that had the most followers and fans were U2, The Cure (my favorite group) and Depeche Mode (the ones that had the most fans).
If I recommend DM songs, I would tell you to take the singles one by one from the first one from '81 and listen to them all until '97 more or less, then DM dropped a lot and they only released a few good loose buds... ..but I would recommend that you listen to the maxis or Extended versions, since they are better than the single or album version....
Even so, I will recommend 5 or 6 songs that I think you should listen to:
-"Photographic", for me not only the best songs from his first LP "Speak & Spell", but also one of the best songs from him..
-"Get the Balance Right! (Combination Mix)" Loose single from '83, which came out between the 2nd and 3rd album.
-"Blasphemous Rumors" One of DM's best songs included in his 4th album "Some Great Reward"
-"But Not Tonight" b-side of the single "Stripped", although in the USA, I think it did come out as a single, since it belonged to the OST of a movie.
-"Behind The Wheel / Route 66 (Megamix)" although it is official, it is still a rarity, it is a remix of the 2 songs of this maxi.
-"Everything Counts", the version from the live album "101" recorded on June 18, 1988 at the Rose Bowl stadium in Pasadena, California, is simply sublime.
-"Dangerous (Sensual Mix)" Side b of the single "Personal Jesus" and outtake of the best album "Violator", for me it is not only better than its side a, but it is better than some of those included on the album .
I'm sorry for all this nonsense (it's also translated, I don't know if it's good or bad by Google), but here's my contribution from Depeche Mode and some other groups that I've named in case you want to give them a listen.

I have friends who have no special band to default to in their lives, and other friends who's entire lives were shaped around their special bands, like Led Zeppelin, Metallica, and Aerosmith. I like those bands too, of course, but, For me, when I discovered Depeche Mode in 1986, it was all over. I just attended their latest (last?) concert in November.

One of those bands that after listening to the studio version you should do the live version. Especially since they changed from pure synth to having a live drummer and Martin Gore playing guitar. Same songs but sound different live.

In previous videos, you were asking about "Rain" songs. Try 1963's "Rhythm of the Rain" by the Cascades. It may be one of the earliest to use Rain sound effects.

The instrumental at the end of the album version is meant to segue into the next track, Policy of Truth.
Violator is such a magnificent album from start to finish.
If you can find the time it's definitely worth a listen in one session.
Would also highly recommend the live album 101 which basically encompasses the bands best songs before making Violator.

For Depeche Mode in their superstardom period with a mixture of electronic and authentic instruments, apart from "Personal Jesus", you can try "I Feel You", "Walking in My Shoes" and "Condemnation". For them in their pure electronic music period, try "Just Can't Get Enough", "See You", "People are People", "Master and Servant", and also perhaps the trickiest ballad about perfect relationship of all time: "Somebody"...

DM is mentioned as influential by tons of bands and you're right, they have a darkness combined with beauty, it's kind of their trademark. Check out: Strange Love, Never Let Me Down Again (Split Mix), Policy of Truth (from the same Violator album, it's incredible!), Route 66 (Beatmasters Mix), Get the Balance Right (Combination Mix), It's No Good, Barrel of a Gun (dark industrial), Everything Counts in Small Amounts, Halo... that can get you started!
