I’ve worked with Arri and Red cameras with PL mounts and that’s the exact same way of locking a lens. It is a more secure mounting system, the click button release like on a FX3 or FX6 can have issues with play over time, the friction locking system on the FX9 fixes that issue.
I don't think they will change it. On the original FS7 there was the normal mount. On the FS7mkII they switched to the mount like the one on the FX9. It's way more stable even when it wears down because of a lot of use. Just turn it tighter. It's like a PL or B4 mount. Also Canon EOS C series has this new style. It's _objectively_ the better choice.
You might be right. The fact that it’s rock solid I’m sure is why they switched. But wow is it annoying to change lenses as a solo operator. Especially since it used to be much easier. Thanks for the comment👍

They need to look at how Red did the EF mount for the DSMC 1 and 2… still a twist bayonet but also lockable and easy to do one handed
That would be great!
Also ... no firmware updates in 19 months.
Hopefully that means a mark II?
You can learn to do it. Just keep practicing
Will do!👍
