Lens Compression Expansion Test
Lens Compression Expansion Test
More appropriately called perspective distortion but often understood as lens compression or expansion, the distortion (compression/expansion) that occurs because of the distance of the camera to the subject and the background.

    I'm so fed up of people assessing/criticising gear that they aren't the targeted audience for. This is the same as vloggers dissing the pocket 4K in 2020. Creates unnecessary noise on the internet, making it difficult for a company like blackmagic that actually tries to guage the needs of the users through online discussions.

    Hey, my friend. Thanks for the video. I would like to ask you to help me out! I'm a beginner, and I've always dreamed of having a camera since my childhood. Now I decided to buy one. I stuck between A6000 and A6400 (both used). With my budget right now, I can afford an A6000 + Sigma 30mm 1.4 (maybe if I am lucky, a kit lens) or an A6400 + kit lens (both are used). I searched the whole of TH-cam, and I know how fantastic and necessary it is to have a prime lens like what I mentioned. As the prime lens I mentioned is so expensive in my country, I decided to buy the first setup, but I noticed the colors and low-light performance of the A6400 are much better, and I am worried that I will regret buying the A6000. Sometimes I think I'm a beginner, and the A6000 is enough for me. Can you help me? I usually to take pictures in the nature or streets or parks. I was looking for a small and light weight camera for that and I think both are ok in these aspects. I do not know when I can buy a prime lens or even if I will like this area or not! Sometimes I get good photos with my phone. Thank you.

    • @rpace
      @rpace 22 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hello! It depends on how much you want to spend. I think if you are primarily taking photos the added price of the 6400 will probably not be worth it - so I would go for the a6000. But if you do a lot of video then the a6400 is the better way to go. Send me a DM either through instagram @haywiremediagroup or my website haywire.media/contact

    The Powerextra NP-F960/F970 are straight up scams. They claim to be 8800mAh, which would mean that each of the 18650 lithium cells are 2933.333mAh each (which no manufacture advertise their cells as having a fraction of an amp hour) . The battery packs are configured as a 2S3P - 2 cells in series, 3 of those in parallel, and series cells adds up voltages while parallel cells add up amp hours. Now that I know this, I'm going to check the rated specs of the battery packs before I even consider buying them. If they can't even fake the numbers correctly, what else can't we trust them with?

    In 2024 if you could get an fx6 or fx9 for same price what would you go for . I’m coming from Blackmagic ursa mini pro and I would like to retain a great image . ( I shoot commercial , docs, fashion films ) Thanks I appreciate your response and time . Keep up the good informative videos

    • @rpace
      @rpace 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks! It's close but I believe if they were the same price I would go with the FX9 again. The positives of the FX9 are that it's larger and has more manual buttons on the side so I think it's slightly easier to quickly change settings. I really like the look of the FX9 sensor and its a 6k image downsampled to 4k which I think gives it a slightly better image (but thats debatable). Also, network TV shoots usually ask for the FX9 (or FS7) not the FX6. The positives of the FX6 are 4k 120, its smaller and lighter (that is a pro and a con) and most importantly is its 2nd base iso at 12800. The FX9 2nd base is 4000 so in low light the FX6 definitely wins (I also have an FX3 so if low light is a problem for my FX9 I can use that). I am partial to the FX9 because I own it and love it. But if I had to buy it again at current prices (FX9 being $10,000 and the FX6 being $6000) the savings on the FX6 would probably convince me to get the FX6 - $4000 is a big difference! I hope that helps and thanks for the comment!

    This question might seem dumb but I’m wondering, how does a solo film maker set a custom white balance with a grey card by themselves ? Until now, my client or a friend held the card in front of them and I could take the custom WB with ease. Do you hold the camera in one hand and the WB in the other ? Like what if you had a big zoom lens, starting from 70 for instance. Would you just place the WB card on the ground or a against a wall ?

    • @rpace
      @rpace 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, you can do that! For my FX3 I just hold the camera in one hand since the camera is small and the white card in the other hand. For a larger camera like FX9 I usually have it on a tripod. Even at 70mm you should be able to reach the camera to push the WB button while holding the card in front of the lens. It helps that the custom WB button on the FX9 is right at the front of the camera.

      Yeah I hear you. They can be a pain at times and for larger cameras they are a no go. But they can come in very handy when you are using a smaller mirrorless camera and need to make a quick adjustment👍

      They are a pain. The Benro I got stands 6 1/2' to the top of the head without extending the column. With the column extended it's over 7 1/2'. Rarely need to extend it.

    These are all great comments. I can add and if I wanted to shoot an IMAX project I’ll take a $25K camera all day, everyday. As an indie filmmakers and an owner of several Blackmagic cameras, they have made it possible for people on small budgets to get in the game and pursue their dreams. I block out all the noise. All the people that can’t seem to understand that must have pretty deep pockets….lol

      Hopefully the Cine 17 will allow filmmakers with lower budgets to film with the IMAX look (or distribute it to imax theaters) if they want to!

    I went into a photo store when I was 20 to buy a replacement tripod for my velbon, which had broken, and the salesman sold me a Manfrotto 190 CLB and I gasped at the price. He said it would be the only tripod I would need, would last forever, etc. and he was right. That was around 1978. I still use it almost every day. Really good value in the long term. Completely reliable.

      Hey thats so cool! Amazing after decades of daily use that your tripod is still in great shape. They are so well built! thanks for commenting👍

      I was looking at Manfrotto tripods to replace my Velbon that I got about 1994, but the Velbon is still going strong. I did get a Benro that is VERY tall. I can set up my Gimbal head for birds and not have to stoop over (I'm 6'). If I extend the center column I can easily shoot over crowds. A little heavy for every day use so the Velbon is still my main. When it gives out I would definitely look at Manfrotto again.

      @@rpace the velbron was broken when I took it in and it was unfixable. Can't remember what model it was. I liked it, but it wasn't as durable as the manfrotto. Was lighter though. I recall the legs were aluminum.

    I have the same exact issue with my Air 2s, exactly how you described. I was hoping you would mention these potential fixes. Have you tried either of these? 1. Have you tried new propellers yet? 2. Have you tried replacing the gimbal plate?

    • @rpace
      @rpace 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes I have changed the propellers, but not the gimbal plate! That’s a great idea. I will do that next. Thank you!

      So, I requested the repair in the DJI store app this past Sunday and they sent me a UPS shipping label to mail them the drone. Surprisingly, it was for an address in Kentucky! So I shipped it Monday, it arrived Wednesday, and today (Thursday), they CALLED ME 😮to let me know the gimbal and camera needed to be replaced for $104!!! I can’t believe it’s been this easy so far. I just paid that $104, and I’ll let you know when it gets back to me.

    On point! As I venture into different genres now, I see how just one edit and missing shots (which I could gladly take easily afterwards and during editing) made the second video less a struggle, since I knew I had to do specific thiings. Also, I quickly realized, after the script, there should be a plan for what to shoot. People focus a lot on one point of the process, but your simple point here is so important!

    Hehe my SmallRig FreeBlazer AD80 (steel) still works well. Then changed the tripod head to a Sirui VH-10X and I'm so happy with it. The only upside of the SmallRig video PT head that came with the tripod is the plate that can slot in DJI and Manfrotto, which became unnecessary for me again since I have Falcam F38 quick release kits on top of tripod/gimbal plates. Generaly, I'm really glad I picked steel instead of the Carbon Fiber one, which I've seen a few that cracked in the joints. 😂

    • @rpace
      @rpace 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Good to know! Yes, the fact that the small rig head accepted Manfrotto and DJI plates is one of the reason I chose it initially. I literally never used a DJI plate on it😂

  • @avx111

    SmallRig uses some really awful screws, been warning people about those for a while now. Still no one beats them on prize, but if I can afford to I prefer going Kondor Blue for camera rigs.
