- Today's maps are gifts from the postbox, sent in by Fred and Colette. I love that they fit thematically! The beautiful maps of Hawai'i with the volcanoes from Colette, and the wonderfully detailed info on human settlement in the Pacific from Fred.
I hope you enjoy this quiet exploration. And as I've mentioned on the community tab, a little head-ups: We might have to skip one week because June is unexpectedly busy, but after that we'll finally get to Lord of the Rings! Thank you, everyone, for your patience and all the kind words on the videos 💕

Right? As someone who gets a little worried when you can't see the other shore of the lake, I can't imagine what it's like to jump on a boat out into the Pacific. 😅

Amazing navigators by so many methods reliant upon nature. Stars, clouds, driftwood, water colour, birds, prevailing winds and currents. Their maps drawn and created from items of nature. Great skills that in the modern day are rarely used and known. So good to have this knowledge and discovery presented in your relaxing ASMR style.
The incredible ingenuity and extraordinary courage of these ancient seafaring voyagers never fails to amaze and inspire me. This is a beautifully realized, deeply soothing and wonderfully informative video. Thank you so much for creating it and sharing it with all of us! ❤

Oahu is incredibly gorgeous. My husband and I went there on a trip for our 1 year anniversary/belated honeymoon and it is definitely one of the most beautiful places on Earth.
It does sound like a wonderful place for a honeymoon!

It's crazy to think it was long enough ago, that the stars were aligned differently. Made all the more different that the stars in the southern hemisphere are different from the north, depending on how far from the equator you are, making the massive Pacific all the more confusing to navigate.

Amazing how those peopoe could navigate the ocean based on waves, stars and birds. It would just be an indistinguishible flat water for most of us.
