Killer video! Been fixing cars professionally since 2003 but been about 8 years since doing a clutch on a k20 dc5, doing mine at home on my back as cant be assed taking to work to rush the job. This way has been epic on my own on my back!
Bro...I watched every RSX transmission removal video out there and yours is by far the best. Not only is your removal method the best way, but your explanation and shots made everything easy to follow. Felt like I had a coach right there with me. It took some time but got a new clutch installed and a Civic Si LSD. To echo what others are saying, your a beast getting that sucker back in by yourself. I tried with the jack but couldn't line it up to the right angle. What worked for me was to put some 2X4's over the engine bay and have a helper hold the trans weight with straps (there even 2 places to clip it in) over the 2X4's and then I could line up and get that first bolt through. My track RSX is stored away for the winter (Canada) but now I can watch the rest of your videos in preparation for the spring.
Glad I could help bro. I just broke something in my trans at the last track event. But it was last event of the season thankfully lol. I'll probably open it up January.
That’s what is great about the RSX as a track car. My buddy blew his Lotus transmission at track=$11K Something goes wrong with the RSX and get parts dirt cheap. Do you have a LSD in yours?
26:28 Bro youre a beast doing it alone it was such a pain putting it back on it was 3 of us with a jack it took a whole hour. For a second i thought of just junking the car and getting a new one i was so frustrated. Mega thumbs up to you!!
Damn good DIY man. Thank you. I’ve never done a job this big but now my transmission is on the ground and I’m waiting on a TOB and intermediate shaft to come in.
I appreciate the video I actually work in an automotive shop. And I have access to all data and stuff but doing a job at home is very different than doing it in a shop so thanks a lot. Also it might be worth mentioning an alignment would not be a bad idea after you remove the strut bolts. But I do think your way is better because you don't have the rotor assembly and stuff in your way while you're sitting on the ground fighting the transmission.
May be a good time to install new axle seals also, better to spend the extra $35 than have them leak after or later. Good video, may do the clutch in my '05 ep3 soon.
Hey if you pause at 16:11, where the intermediate shaft goes into the trans, there's an elongated hole on the right side that looks like a rip or crack and you can see inside. Is that normal? I just noticed that on my rsx and I'm thinking that it ripped but it looks exactly the same on this vehicle.
@@4bangermafia on the hole that the intermediate shaft goes into the trans, right next to that hole is where I'm talking about... is it some kind of weep hole?
I have a question, at 8:45 of the video, you mention you didn’t have to take out the axle nut and just removed the lower strut bolts, but later in the video I see the rotor and hun totally removed. Is that just one side or both side removed?

Gotta give you credit. You did it. Using a mini jack too. Great job.
Yo man, thanks for showing the wrestling match getting that sucker back on, pretty much nobody shows that, much props!
Yo, just did the clutch on my Type S on Saturday and your video was the most helpful. My axle nuts were seized so this method was perfect, lol.

@@alexbudgell9087 yeah, I have a wavetrac in mine. Atm, I'm suspecting it's the culprit that broke.

Thanks man. Appreciate the comment.
I installed my transmission by myself with 1 jack and some wood. Wtf you doing?

@@M.TTT. Crazy .. I guess it's like the 100 posts a day about, why is my srs light on? And other stupid crap
Your video was a great reference in my transmission swap. For any dc5 manual trans it'll work for those wondering
Man this helped so much doing this by myself and this video saved me lol thanks
Damn good DIY man. Thank you. I’ve never done a job this big but now my transmission is on the ground and I’m waiting on a TOB and intermediate shaft to come in.
THANK YOU for showing the actual struggle of working solo and with limited tools.

Yeah that is good point about checking alignment especially if someone is using beveled bolts to adjust camber
Great video bro, fs using this method my throwout bearing left the chat
Whelp, I've decided that I'm not going to tackle replacing my clutch myself. Good work man.
You get it down or still working on it? It's my first time and man I'm struggling lol
Best part of it all, “you saved money on labor “ nice vid
Well I was working on someone else's car. They paid me for labor. Lol but in future he can watch this video and maybe do it himself with confidence.

You the man bro
Awesome DIY👍🏾👍🏾
Excellent!
Is this close enough to doing it on an ep3? I gotta do it soon as the clutch gets here. By myself and all.
Bro I envy the fact that at about 28 min you had someone offer help and you were all about the solo.
Thanks, I wanted to show people that you don't need anyone help to do this job.
@@4bangermafia well I snapped my tranny housing near the mount so this was very helpful.
@@4bangermafia Im wanting to put a type s 6 speed on my base 06 rsx. Is there anything special to do or is it just a straight plug and play swap?
I think I could have done this 5 years ago. My days of wrestling a 100 plus pound transmission are oner. I'm all about the hoist.
How do I remove the camber bolts if they are really tight? I tried using a breaker bar but it doesn’t seem to work.

It comes down with the subframe.
@@4bangermafia okay thank you! I’m in the process of removing everything on top of the transmission, tomorrow I’ll get under the car
I’m trying tomorrow, ep3 si
How did it go?
Did you drain the transmission before removing it?
It's best to drain it. Less weigh and it won't spill out the diff openings
@@4bangermafia ok, thanks for the quick reply
How long does this take solo usually??? Planning on doing mine at around 95k to 100k miles
First timer typically will be 8hrs.
Nice video but am I the only one who notice he got a ankle monitor on ?
Yeah I had one lol good catch
@@4bangermafia All that slamming gears on the roads lol
I seen that ankle monitor 😅
Hope he's doing better cause this is impressive stuff he did
MESSAGED YOU ON FACEBOOK AND INSTAGRAM THANKS G

That’s dangerous and way too much work tho for 1 person I’ll just pull complete from top noo need for extra work
