I have a 02 honda si. The stage 2 clutch that I hade on broke on me. I watched your video like a billion times and replaced it myself with a stage one. Thanks man fr!!
@@jordan_.zx10r as in dont torque to max torque in the beginning split in 3 steps, 1st torque all 8 to 20ftlbs then 2nd time 40ftlbs and last 85ftlbs last round should be the heaviest as honda recommends according to the FSM. dont quote me on the number of ftlbs this was just a reference so go according to FSM.
Thanks for the vid man! definitely gives a diy a good idea of time frame and what’s needed + what should be replaced while doin the job that may be overlooked.
@@Rosaa007 WHAT, are you serious? Ive been struggling with it for the past 2 days!! Everything has gone so smooth but doesn't the starter have to crank against the flywheel teeth to crank? Or do you mean i just have to remove the bolts and move it to the side? Please LMK its been delaying me hard and its getting real cold right about now up in Canada LOL
You did great on this video it help a lot but in future reference try not you a hammer cause metal isn’t the best try to use a Mallet but once again this video was great much appreciated
yehh i thought the same too lol, i did mines 2 months ago and man aligning the transmission back in was a pain. Took me and 2 other ppl 1 whole hour while bench pressing tht thing cuz jack wasnt angling right.
@@droptopp3479 Whats your secret? Any tips? I just kept wiggling with 2 people above and a jackstand underneath until it slowly lined up with the guides. Took like 30 tries. But it was such a pain no joke for a minute I thought about junking it and getting a new car.
@@aycarambas lol well first dont mke the mistake i did, which was if trans doesnt go in then try sticking the alignment tool back in to see if it actually goes in smooth. So after like 20min it didnt work so i tried tht and saw tht the alignment wasnt too straight so i had to redo align and straighten up the middle by pilot bushing. Then after tht, we just pushed it in while hving 2 guys under the trans bench pressing it and one on top to push and align the trans. After wiggling it counter and clockwise for 10-15min it finally went in. Using cherry picker wouldve been the easiest way i see but i didnt hve one. Definitely do need 2 extra ppl to mke it easier on yourself tho. I didnt want to work on the car the next day so we had to get it in no matter what but yeh it was a pain in the ass.
wow that oem clutch looks bad! How many miles did you have on the car before you changed it? I currently have 82k on my 2006 type s & nothing feels wrong with mine at all. Just want a lighter flywheel and stage 1 clutch
Stock one isn’t really all that great tbh, im on og clutch at 110k with fbo, reflash and it’s locking me out of gear and slipping, ill be putting in an exedy stg 1 with lw flywheel
I’m 4 years late lmao, but if anyone’s active on this video still, instead of disconnecting from where the ball joints meet the lower control arm, could I just take the bolts out that connect the strut to the brake hub and drop the subframe with the hubs still on? Is there any reason I shouldn’t do this that way? It just sounds a bit easier to me..
Why did you choose this clutch kit over the exedy? Also, can you explain why yo i replaced the pilot bushing and the throw out bearing? I’m replacing my soon and can’t find any info if those two parts are needed to be replaced while replacing the clutch
I choose competition clutch because my buddy has one and it felt great. I replaced the pilot bushing and throw out bearing because over time it gets worn out. I highly recommend replacing them while you are at it or you might have to take the transmission out again. If you need those parts I would go to your local Acura dealership and get it there, it wasn’t that expensive. Also both competition and exedy are great brand I would definitely recommend either one.
You can always throw that pilot bushing in a plastic bag with some lube in the deep freezer the night before and it will go in easier..because science.
Best DC5 clutch video on TH-cam!
Thank you!
Nice work man. Love the angles and love the walkthrough. I just got my rsx and I feel confident enough to tackle this job. Thank you

Super detailed step by step instructions. Makes me more confident on replacing my clutch if I ever have to do it down the road
I love this video breaks everything and actually shows how to do everything very helpful and encouraging will be doing this my self soon thank you
just a heads up i believe honda recommends when torquing down the flywheel bolts do it in 3 parts. JUST FYI
What order?

Did you have to take the starter bolts out? No mention of it. Or did I miss it?
A little late but no you don’t have to remove the starter

clutch disk actually looks fine. The tolerance is the rivets
What did you use to keep the engine level
I'm doing it right now bottle jack with a piece of wood on oil pan
Yup oem throwout bearing is the best of the best.
Thank you! great video! What were the torque specs on the flywheel and pressure plate?
Oh man this is good stuff. Idk if u scared me off but Sheesh that's alot of damn work smh. Makes me wana pay someone now lol.
Awesome video. I will be doing my clutch this week. Thank you!!!! Subbed!!!
How'd it go?!

A G Using engine stand and Jack really help to align the transmission back in. That’s what I did!
The one part I came to see was the only part that was skipped over and that's getting the transmission shaft back in and aligned properly...
Very Informative, Great Video.

By any chanse you have the part # for oil seal bearing!! Thanks!
Do you have a to oil the new main seal or just put it in?
Did you say 19lbft or 90lbft for the torque wrench?
when the pilot bearing is seated should it be able to spin or no?
Supposed to stay seated😉
where do you get all of the torque specs?
what’s the clutch alignment tool kit for?

What did you use the Jack bar for the big breaker bar?
On the crank so it doesn't spin on the other side while he torqued the flywheel bolts. (I think)
hey man, gonna start working on my rsx very soon gonna use this as reference hope i don’t fuck sum up

What are the torque specs for bolting the trans back to the engine ??

Yea the old one was OEM
Did you have to adjust your clutch pedal for travel?
Jimmy Le no I didn’t. I like low biting point on clutch.

Dude, a claw hammer to put the pilot bearing in? Lmao
Do you need to mark the subframe bolts removing it?
The tech manual says that you are suppose to mark them, yes.
