Like a planer they are identicaly, and after that start differences. M-346 is 1000 pound lighter than Y-130, because of using composite materials. Engines in M-346 are 3kN more powerful that Y-130, Max Speed of M-346 is 1255km/h, while Y-130 is 1050 km/h. There are big difference in reliability, specific fuel consumptions and endurance of the engines, too.

Due to disagreements with the Italian partner, the joint development at the final stage stopped. Each of the companies received documentation for the basic version of the future aircraft (glider), after which they released their own versions of the aircraft: Aermacchi built the M-346 TCB, and OKB im. Yakovlev - combat training aircraft Yak-130. L'alenia Aermacchi retained the rights to distribute and market the aircraft worldwide, with the exception of the CIS (including Russia).
Externally, the Italian M-346 aircraft is almost identical to the Yak-130, but the Italians installed their own equipment and engines.

This is not a joint project, but a purely Russian project with Italian money. To all you saying shit, they are the result of a joint venture between Aermachi and Yakolev, Aermachi had 50% of the development and two russian companies shared the other 50% of development. Because of different requirements and the russian part not being able to pay its part (the early 2000s weren´t great years to russian economy), the joint venture was dissolved and each one kept development, no one copied from no one, they developed together at first and then kept separate ways

one could say a successful collaboration between Russia and Italy. in fact, it rewards the Italian aircraft because there are commercial agreements. it also combines the advantage of being able to sell a plane to more countries, given that it is a training aircraft and that Italy has the opportunity to sell to the West as well as to the East. A good success.

Then a collaboration began for the lynx, Italy has limited number of production while Russia could make more. First thing firts, calm down kid, speak like this to your friends.
Second thing, I was referring to this:
      Yak 130:
According to its chief designer Konstantin Popovich, during a testing phase that ended in December 2009, the plane was tested with "all airborne weapons with a weight of up to 500 kg that are in service in the Russian Air Force"
Source: Pyadushkin, Maxim (16 February 2010). "Reprogrammed Trainer - Yak-130 jet trainer is cleared for service". Russia & CIS Observer. Archived from the original on 28 July 2011. Retrieved 11 September 2010.
Quoted on the wikipedia page: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yakovlev_Yak-130#cite_note-ato_yak130-16
      M-346:
The first M-346 prototype rolled out on 7 June 2003, and conducted its maiden flight on 15 July 2004. In 2004, a contract for the development of a full-mission simulator for the M-346 was awarded to CAE.
Source: CAE wins contract for the development and supply of Alenia Aermacchi's M-346 simulator (press release), 2004, archived from the original on 2006-03-24.
Quoted on the wikipedia page: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alenia_Aermacchi_M-346_Master#cite_note-9
      End of the joint venture:
In 2000, differences in priorities between the two firms had brought about an end to the partnership, with each developing the aircraft independently. The Italian version was named M-346; Yakovlev received US$77 million for technical documents of the aircraft. Yakovlev would be able to sell the aircraft to countries such those in the Commonwealth of Independent States, India, Slovakia and Algeria. Aermacchi would be able to sell to NATO countries, among others.
Source: "Russian military trainer strategy falls into place; the selection of the Yak-130 marks an important step towards replacing the country's aging fleet of L-39Cs. Things are moving in the simulator business, too". Interavia Business & Technology. ISSN 1423-3215. Archived from the original on 24 September 2015. Retrieved 22 August 2015 - via HighBeam Research.
Quoted on the same Wikipedia page of the Yak 130
Evidently I msiunderstood because the 2009 date referred to the light attack version of the Yak, not the trainer, product of the joint venture between Yak and AEM.
It was my understanding that the date of the first flight you are referring to wasn't the Yak 130 but the first prototype of the Yak/AEM 130, named Yak 130/D, product of the joint venture between Yak and Aermacchi
      I'm referring to this:
"After having entered discussions in 1992, in 1993 it agreed with the Italian company Aermacchi to jointly develop the plane, which now became Yak/AEM-130; Aermacchi would be responsible for the project's financial and technical support. The first prototype, dubbed Yak-130D, was built by Sokol at Nizhny Novgorod, Russia, and was publicly unveiled in June 1995. The aircraft made its first flight on 25 April 1996 from Zhukovsky Airport at the hands of Yakovlev chief test pilot Andrey Sinitsyn.

Airbus is made by four European countries, and only Russia designs and builds airplanes, as well as spaceships independently. Russia is a great country with great designers and engineers!

The joint venture was broken (not "left") because Aermacchi (that's not "Italy") wanted a pure advanced trainer (training time on last generation fighters costs A LOT. To use a trainer whose performances are very close to the real thing saves a lot of money, so countries that use last generation fighters are very interested in this kind of aircrafts ). Yakovlev wanted an half-trainer half poor-man's-fighter to sell to nations that couldn't afford advanced fighters.

Look at the M340 project of 1986, it' s almost identical but with only one, bigger, engine. The plane was developed in cooperation and the result was the Aer-Yak 13 of 1996, the common prototype, then the two builders adapted their own designs to different technology/market/military requirements, Yak is more simple and cheap, more focused to dual role in third world countries, M 346 has higher training performances.
