I watched this with my family over 30 years ago and we seriously thought that my Dad was going to die laughing. After each of the punchlines he laughed harder and longer. After the last one my Father was so laughing so hard that we all feared for his life (and I am being serious here). We all sat there in silence, looking straight ahead and waited maybe ten minutes for him to calm down, all thinking the same thing and frightened to look at him in case it made it worse. Eventually he did stop laughing but by this time he was gasping for air and completely purple. Thank you Tommy Cooper for such a nice memory of my Dad.
What I'm trying to say is that this is a master piece of comedy frozen in time from 70,s humor , representing what peoples ideas where of Karate at the time. Great
Im 42 i remember all my family mum dad aunts n uncles all laughing my grandad and grandma , They're all dead now , that made me stop watching comedy . None of them smoked or took drugs nor alcohol , they just sat infront of the telly all week laughing , it was hard to watch , the 70's and 80's tv was a 'hella ov drug' i hate seeing people laughing at people that killed my entire family
Simply brilliant . The great Tommy Cooper. You know no matter how down you may feel sometimes, even just thinking about Tommy cooper can immediately make you feel better. For me a comic genious
Without doubt, the funniest comedy sketch I have ever seen. If ever I feel a bit down, I play it and it's an immediate tonic. Love the bits - 'I mean, you've got to give me a chance haven't you' and - 'Sneak up on me loudly' - Wonderful comic genius. Thank you for this video.
I only recently discovered Tommy Cooper and instantly fell in love with his humor and antics!! My favorite TV show in the 70s was The Carol Burnett Show!! I'm American and I love British humor but I do like some 70s comedy from The US!! The stuff that passes for comedy now is total crap!!!
I Sat there Laughing my head off, It was only Later that I found out that Tommy Cooper had suffered an Heart Attack and had practically died on stage doing what he did so well,Fantastic Comic there will never be another one like him. R.I.P.
Sheer Brilliance, It’s my understanding that Tommy Cooper rarely took time off from stunts and jokes, and proof of this follows :- My uncle was working at Manchester Airport in the 70s and he heard Tommy was coming in on a flight and really wanted his autograph. When Tommy was coming through the building my uncles workmate told Tommy my uncle really wanted his autograph and he agreed to go and see him e we here he was working high up on a ladder. Tommy stood at the bottom and shouted “Are you looking for me?” My uncle was amazed and replied “Wow, yes I’m coming down” when he got down to the floor Tommy had gone!! … He had hid round a corner 😂 My Uncle George got his Autograph book signed and was so happy.
Today, 'comedy' all too relies on cruel bullying; we have the vile Frankie Boyle who mocks disabled children as an example. Back then, humour was based on wit, not cruelty. With the exception of some good documentaries, British TV today is a depressing circus of trash. We need more comedians like Tommy Cooper.
LEGEND. I watched this legend as a kid in the 80s, still making me laugh today. I will never forget the day he died on live TV, we watched it live and everyone was laughing thinking it was part of the act. I'm sure thats how he would have wanted to go.
Same with our family, we were all laughing and I remember straight after the show News at 10 announced his death in the headlines. Complete shock. But what a fitting end to go for such a great comedian; making everyone laugh to the very end.
Ah, the "interviewer" appears to be none other than the late Allan Cuthbertson. You may remember him playing Colonel Hall in the episode "Gourmet Night" on BBC's "Fawlty Towers".
This bit is hilarious! And the straight man is good too...1:03 "No! Not yet..." Allan Cuthbertson, as other people have pointed out, also seen in Fawlty Towers and numerous other British greats like Ice Cold in Alex and Terry and June.

He was easy pleased.
I also get a laughing "attack" sometimes and that can last for minutes and it's exhausting alright because it takes alot of energy.
There'll never be another one as unique as this. RIP and thanks for all the wonderful laughs you gave everyone.
What I'm trying to say is that this is a master piece of comedy frozen in time from 70,s humor , representing what peoples ideas where of Karate at the time. Great
Everytime I watch this video I'am starving.
Tommy, we miss you.
Tommy Cooper, Morecambe & Wise, The Two Ronnies and Benny Hill provided me with so many laughs as a kid 😀
Dick Emery?
Me too.

"This hand is a killer (right)"
Wham!
"What's the matter?"
"It's the wrong hand, it is this one!"
did you actually find that funny????
@@malbig2344 It was extremely funny. If you didn't find it funny might be because you're a miserable b**tard.
@@JfK--OBJECTivE 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
@@malbig2344 No, I didn't find it at all funny. When I was 8, maybe, because I laughed at anything, but that was then and it's just not funny, now.

Nathan Hazlett agreed
Nathan Hazlett I was just saying that
Magic era of comedy never see the like again 😣
70's 80' humor not not cruel... It was bigoted, homophobic, sexist and shite. The only people who thought it was harmless were working class racist.
@Malbig. Twat.
The geniality was in the simplicity of his commicity coupled to his persona !
Dude, what the fuck is commicity
The guys too much! He is brilliant!
He was one of the greats!!
The antidote to all ills. A bit of Tommy Cooper.
Absolutely very well said
This gentleman was so funny.

Me as well.
Basically he got more laughs dead than the CRAP does today & their alive.
LOVE the part when the wooden stick falls off before he hits it, sooo good xD May you rest in peace Tommy :)
True. A lot of his Gags consisted of things not working properly. Love him
I love how no effort was made to hide the saw marks on the wood!
You think its real wood? 😂

Ah, the "interviewer" appears to be none other than the late Allan Cuthbertson. You may remember him playing Colonel Hall in the episode "Gourmet Night" on BBC's "Fawlty Towers".
You're right! He did more scenes/sketches with Tommy Cooper as well.
YOU only serve DUCK?
That's instantly what I thought. If you don't like duck, you're rather stuck! Too small and dry!
Colonel and Mrs Hall. I almost know FT by heart. One of my all time fave series!

Excellent .. Thanks
