1:34:23 This was the most important part of this video what Scott said about what happens to ur mind when you use the Luhmann system. I now finally understand why Luhmann did what he did and how he was able to produce so much content. I am so glad you made this video cause this allowed me to understand the power of Luhmann's Zettelkasten system. I was confused about so many things but you and Stacy cleared up a lot of things for me. Now I get why Luhmann said, "this is my thinking!!!" when asked about his notes.
Thanks to you both for this video. Like the other comments, very useful in getting my head around the numbering. Some of the phrases that really helped me with the "Fuzzy Logic" were your repeated focus on "it's completely arbitrary"; "That's how we decide, we just decide" :) I noticed that in reference to the four-digit numbers at the beginning, you tend to call them branches which highlighted the fuzzy difference with the cards created after the first slash is the first idea: extraction/reflection/reformulation card. Which now that I'm writing it out is obvious, but before, not so much. Your discussion around the flexibility of moving from the first idea card or branch card was really helpful here.
Thanks so much for this video! I identified with Stacy in that I have many journals, both long form and bullet journals. It was a!ready on my mind to incorporate those in my new Antinet Zettelkasten that I will be starting. I'm always getting inspiring and innovative ideas, but they feel scaftered among my journals. I'm looking forward to implementing your system so that I can make further connections. Can't wait for your book!
No reason. It's a personal choice. I find the academic disciplinary fields to be more helpful for the type of things I foresee creating. Here's a piece from my upcoming book which talks about this: drive.google.com/file/d/1AuBjs6nRyw1tac6-CCoClBBceC7xWRsu/view?usp=drivesdk
Could you discuss how you would build out her podcast episodes? You you cluster them all together in a section or would they appear throughout the antinet in the closest related topic?
@@scottscheper Awesome - so would I simply point to ideas throughout my antinet and then elaborate on them in my « podcast » section ? And in some cases I might have a wide range of ideas in my podcast section, would i simply index those ideas?
@@scottscheper might the same idea live in two places but be elaborated on differently depending on their location? E.G.In her example on flow, her main excerpt card (defining the concept) would live somewhere in her psychology branch but when she elaborates in context of journaling, that elaboration would live in her writing section?
@@RobThomasBouchard yes 100%. I have concepts related to human memory like Associative Recall that lives in the branch of human memory (2428). Within the Antinet book branch (4214) I reference it yet continue elaborating on it within a specific idea within the Antinet section.

Now I finally understand how to use "a" vs "1"... Amazing when this stuff finally clicks!

Which book were you referring to? The trees of knowledge? Author? Thank you!
The Book of Trees
Is there a reason to not use the Dewey decimal system for organizing/numbering cards?

Yeah I would create a section for the podcast. Episode one would be like: 5225/1. And if multiple notes: 5225/1/1, 5225/1/2 etc.

@@RobThomasBouchard I would elaborate on them in your card and write out the show outline by hand (instead of just creating a list of cardlinks).
