Nick gave excellent information and facts and as horrible as gun violence is, taking our guns will not help. We need better mental health help for people. I firmly believe that people who commit gun violence would find another "tool" to commit that violence. Living near the US/Mexican border, we NEED to be able to defend ourselves.

Most gun violence in this country has nothing to do with mental health. I saw a statistic a while ago. US is in the top 10 in gun violence in the world. Take Philly, las Angeles, and four or five other cities, mostly blue, out of that metric and the US goes down to 104 th . What that tells me is gun violence in this country is a result of certain areas with terrible policies, weak enforcement and local governments more interested in optics than solutions. And a minority of cities being responsible for a majority of shootings mirrors the data that continues to show that the black minority in this country are responsible for the abundance of these crimes. Data also shows a correlation between fatherless homes and crime, much of it involving firearms. Want to get the gun violence under control, get rid of the poor governance, get serious about sentencing and bring back stop and frisk

Also if you're gonna cover broader issues related to homesteading and culture, it may be worth it to give time to discussions about how we should look at these things through a Christian worldview? I think of this because I became a Christian only after being engulfed in that cultural rabbithole, and find it hard to break bread anymore with partial... allies, let's say- who hold the preservation of freedom as more important than obeying the gospel. Just a personal musing.

@@SoybeanAKFirstly, farming has nothing to do with magic Jews or the Christian church. Chinese farm. Japanese farm. The native Americans farmed. Every culture on earth farmed and still farms. The native Americans were slaughtered in the name of the Christian Jew God. Preachers were the ones pushing it was OK to kill the natives as they were mongrels. Kill the Indian save the man. And let's not forget how African slavery was heavily pushed by the Christian church as the blacks were sub humans and children of Cain. Freedom and liberty are in no way a Christian concept. In fact it's the opposite and which is why our founders were NOT Christian. They were free Masons. Which is why we have freedom of religion and it's not a religious theocracy like Iran or medieval England. Freedom equals responsibility. This is the connection that has been lost. Morals are not a Christian thing. In fact it says nowhere that slavery is bad. In fact Abraham had many slaves. Many wives. Many concubines. Freedom is why you are breathing right now not because magic Jew powers and the iron fist of religion. You want a nation of enslaved sheep begging imaginary things for help rather than taking action. There are only 3 reasons people keep sheep -fleecing, focking, and feeding. Which are you gonna be?

    • @SoybeanAK
      @SoybeanAK 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@tat2zz68 Christ told his disciples that. A particular prophecy needed fulfilling. As for the rest, I'd love to see a passage where God instructs us to fight for "freedoms." Not much talk about "liberty" and "individual rights" in the Bible. He told the Israelites to fight on occasion, and always made it abundantly clear that the victory was his responsibility, not theirs. And we are never expected to overcome evil on our own accord. I can cite an awful lot of passages where Christ's followers are told to submit to the authorities, trust on Him, be an example to the world that our hope is in Him not in any earthly solution, because He's in charge in the end. There's not a single line where they're told to take up arms against oppressors. Indeed that was one of the key mistakes of His followers in His time on earth- they expected Him to blow away the ruling class and create an earthly kingdom, and he instead told them nope, it's a heavenly Kingdom.

As government strips citizens of their individual rights, I think the government becomes more emboldened to continue on with more of the same. In contrast, when citizens stand up and resist the curtailing of their individual freedoms, the government behaves more tentatively.

The problems with that are- there were so many different types and calibres that you have to "FEED" them. I am sure our Guvment would not have the ammunition required/
Second.. those that can use weapons (myself included) most are over 55 years of age. You have a whole generation that has never seen a real rifle let alone fired one and same with Pistols !
What is needed in this backward joint is a standard gun with standard calibre to feed them! We have Atrax F 90 now which is a Bloody good gun; but for military only here, and civilian model, made here but sending to USA for Purchase.
What we also need here is a trained National Guard particularly with the troubles brewing in the world at large. But like everything here, they will wait till the enemy is at the gates!

I know the counter is inner city crime. But we've got London and Manchester so it kind of evens out. The unspoken problem that nobody talks about is that en masse guns are already almost everywhere in the US, whereas, in Europe they are still relatively rare. If guns are ubiquitous, as in the US your solution can't be copy Europe because they have lower homocide rates and fewer guns because the underlying social structure in relation to guns is already vastly different.

Part of the problem is that we don't study history. The founding fathers had just freed themselves from the abusive rule of England. This would not have been possible if the population had not been armed. The Continental Congress did not have been able to pay for all those guns that the population possessed. This leads us to more and more to the question: "Who is in charge? Is it the people or the government?" If the answer you want is the government, then please remember that that is Hitler, Mussulini, Stalin, Gorba kov, and so forth.

Be aware that you don't even have to be convicted to lose your gun right. All it takes is an accusation from the government. Im following a case where someone had felony warrants in another state (they are groundless accusations) there was no use of a firearm nor was there anything violent. This person had no record until the groundless accusations.
Yet those accusations now mean that they are disqualified from having firearms in their current state. They got arrested and charged for this disqualification when a bluecoat stopped them when they were on a job site doing nothing wrong.

Firstly a few stubborn facts about Australia that this walking talking gun junkie either overlooked of straight out lied about
      1. Australia did not have it's firearms banned, there was a buy back of specific firearm types ( crowd killers) in fact there are more firearms in Australia now than pre buy back.
      2. Australia did have a repetitive history of mass shootings prior to Port Arthur, and have had one in the following 27 years - must be a coincidence right ?
      3. The decline in the murder rate actually accelerated post Port Arthur.
4, The current annual murder rate in the US is 9 times that of Australia.
In the U.S. according to a Harvard University analysis of figures from the National Crime Victimization Survey, people defended themselves with a gun in only 0.9 percent of crimes.
and a few more stubborn facts
Owning a gun has been linked to higher risks of homicide, suicide, and accidental death by gun.
For every time a gun is used in self defence in the home, there are 7 assaults or murders, 11 suicide attempts, and 4 accidents involving guns in or around a home.
43 percent of homes with guns and kids have at least one unlocked firearm
According to to FBI data, nearly eight times more people were shot and killed in arguments than by civilians trying to stop a crime.
In one survey, nearly 1 percent of Americans reported using guns to defend themselves or their property. However, a closer look at these claims found that more than half involved using guns in an aggressive manner, such as escalating an argument.
A study in Philadelphia found that the odds of an assault victim being shot were 4.5 times greater if he carried a gun. His odds of being killed were 4.2 times greater.
Unfortunately the rest of your rant doesn't seem to gel with the math either
If guns are the answer to crime then you must be the safest country on the planet !!!
      Unfortunately not.
in the last 50 years you have killed more Americans by the gun than in every war the US has fought in since the Revolution and your gun murder rate is more than the entire OECD combined.
In fact your gun homicide rate is close to 500% higher than almost every other modern industrialised democratic capitalist country on earth.
Coupled with becoming ground zero for mass and school shootings to a point where it has almost become an international spectator sport.
Gun Control is not universal gun confiscation, and the circumstances and laws that you base your ' theories' have had the exact opposite effect to what you claim in countries across the globe.
Funnily enough your poll figures go up and down depending how far out you are from your latest atrocity…..that in itself says everything about the US as a nation.
Guns aren't tools in the US - they are a religion.
As for "freedumb' - go look where the US is placed on the World Freedom Index.
And as for the Second Amendment - most of the modern free world countries would in fact rather see an Ebola outbreak than suffer this slow motion , politically endorsed national suicide pact on their turf.
It truly is a case of the cure being deadlier than the disease.

Or in other words, the other 99.1% of the times a gun was used defensively, a crime was not committed. Sure is neat what you can do with statistics and half a brain, ain't it?
I could dismantle the rest of your arguments too, but frankly I value my time, and it would obviously be a waste, considering the level of ignorance in your comment is well beyond willful, I mean for crying out loud, you speak of lies and conveniently omitted statistics and then proceed to type out a whole book of them.

I hear that, but often people say this when surrounded by like minded others. How far would you defend someone's right to say freedom of speech or expression if their views differed say on politics or policy and possibly threatened your interests? People often talk about such freedoms, but few subscribe to the sacrifice and discipline that it truly requires. Although the United States has broadly similar values to mine across the pond we have developed differently and sometimes each of our nations have been found wanting in this regard. In theory and I hope in your heart to subscribe to what you have said on occasions the notion of disagreeing with what someone says, but defending to the death their right to say it would have to ring true.

Registering gun owners and their specific firearm(s) is a violation of our rights. There are too many gun owners new and old to keep track of, and if we registered everyone with anything they had that is dangerous, then we'd have to register ourselves because we can be dangerous with our words and our physical power as humanity.
