I replaced my factory Halogen headlights with aftermarket LED complete headlight units and tail lights.
I then replaced the aftermarkets with Jeep factory LEDs front and rear.
The aftermarket replacements were about $650 dollars.
There was little to no value in the standard Halogens i took off. (I kept the LED bulbs I had previously installed)
I came across a good deal on new factory LED takeoffs and jumped on them.
I prefer the factory for the looks, especially the Halo's, Tail lights and DRL's.
I had to adjust the aftermarket headlights way down to keep from getting the dreaded approaching vehicle flashing. They were very bright as you mentioned.
Another advantage of going factory might save on an warranty issue if an aftermarket bulb or complete assembly caused a problem.
I have aux lights that I use for off road, which do a good job of expanding out the light beam.
    Good review and points...
The one thing I totally agree with is the cost for the LED upgrade.
So many vehicles now come stock with LEDS.
I think you did the right thing going with the upgrade, even through pricey.
Great to see you back with the JT... Love the color and of course the diesel!

The led package also comes with all interior LED's, 3rd brake light, and license plate light.
For us, and our JLURD, the led package just made sense. I too debated going with the base lights and then swapping with Oracle headlights, and swapping all the other lights with my preferred options. However it is nice for it to just be good to go off the lot, and the factory option works great and looks great.
Plus, since we ordered from Gupton, we also got about 13% off the MSRP of the option. 👍

I love my headlight revolution sv4 bulbs. Glad to hear I made the right choice.

Great discussion. I was on the fence about getting the factory LEDs. I love the idea of getting them after market. Thank you!

I like my LED’s. No busted knuckles changing bulbs or complete housings. Been there done that. Factory warranty for 3 years. Plus a very distinctive look going down the road

The sport and sport derivatives give you fogs and headlights.
I have them in my JL Willey's and love them.
I had JW Speaker in my JK which cost over $800 for the headlights, fogs and turn signals. They were great but getting them as part of the build makes life way easier.
    Would order them factory everytime.

With the factory LED package you don’t have to worry about 50 state legal which in my state Massachusetts is one of the toughest motor vehicle laws in the country. Standout lighting is the surest way to get pulled over on a Friday night by the state troopers. They even stop you for running factory fog lights without inclement weather.

Agree. Have the premium LED’s on my Rubicon. The problem with super white/ bright LED’s in general is that it causes your eyes to be adjusted to the brightness. Then when you look into the dark you are totally blind- no “night vision”. The sharp cutoff makes this problematic. I also find it washes out color; deer for example are very hard to see as the color definition from grass/ weeds to the deer is minimized. I wish the mfgs would focus on beam pattern and softer lighting tones that show color and contrast more, rather than just ridiculous brightness that then requires restrictive cutoffs.

Great content, I do like the LED light package I had installed at factory on my 2021 JT Rubicon and my cost here in Canada was only 1095$ before tax of course but I think it was worth it, now I do not live or drive on country roads so maybe that would be different. Anyways glad I found your channel.

If you end up buying new rear lights, signals, and LED upgrade then yeah it has value.

I have been trying to decide between bulbs and the Oracle Oculus for my JL with Halogen. I go back and forth so many times and I still have halogen. :(

I upgraded to the Supernova V-4 bulbs. They were, admittedly, a little annoying to install- I think purely because I’d never done it before -but they are fantastic, and I don’t foresee myself going with any other option, unless my bulbs burn out and they don’t offer those bulbs anymore. I’d say you could go that route, and if you don’t like them and decide to completely replace the housings, you could always sell the housings and aftermarket bulbs. You probably won’t get the full price you paid if you decide to upgrade again, but if you like them, you didn’t spend more on the others.

    • @chuckk458
      @chuckk458 3 ปีที่แล้ว

@@ryanbuntrock6915 no, I got mine through headlight revolution, and it came with a pwm module for each light. Plug the bulb into the pwm, plug the pwm into the light harness, pack the pwm and stuff into the light housing, and you’re good to go. Headlight revolution has a good video on the install, I just searched “Gladiator headlights” and it says something about “351% brighter than stock”.
