  • Here is KickRocs.com's interview with Brooklyn MC, Skyzoo. We linked up with Skyzoo recently at Underwood Park in the Bedford-Stuyvesant area of Brooklyn, New York to talk about a few topics including his upcoming collab album with Torae, "Barrel Brothers." While his work has focused mainly around amazing instrumentation and ill storytelling, Skyzoo says this project is simply about "beats & rhymes."
Indie vs. Major? While he's not opposed to signing to a major label, Skyzoo explains why he [and many other artists] have preferred the independent route thus far in his career.
The Brooklyn native rocks a black "Stuy" hoodie as he explains the origins of his unique rap name, and how a Bronx bred Chi-Ali inspired him to begin rapping at the age of 9. He also touches on who he feels have been the most lyrical MCs to be produced by "the borough," as well as the most iconic figures to ever make it beyond the borders of Brooklyn. You can't talk Brooklyn without talking Spike Lee, and Skyzoo explains to us exactly how the track "Spike Lee Was My Hero" came to existence.
Interview conducted by KickRocs' own E., filmed and edited by Nana Dadzie. Press play.
Skyzoo & Torae's new collab album "Barrel Brothers" dropping on May 27th!
