  • Check out this "rescue"! We lucked into buying a 1978 Corvette 25th Anniversary, Indy Pace car edition! Even better yet, it only has 38,000 miles. It's been in storage off and on for years and was last brought out of the garage three years ago. We drove it 70 miles home and it ran flawlessly!
It does need some love. Follow along as we fix what it needs and really bring this Corvette back to it's glory!

For the carb issues. Try Z-MAX fuel conditioner. Put a whole can into a nearly empty gas tank. Take it on the highway and drive it hard. You will feel the carb cleaning out. I did my 1978 L42 corvette in 2010. It has never needed any more work. It still runs AWESOME

I don't know what you paid, but looks like a really good start to a way above average corvette, you probably could make some money without do a thing if you're going to sell it anymore, I might be interested. Jim

I ran upon this video I was interested because I have an offer to buy a 1992 Chevy Corvette stingray two-tone same body style as this one as I'm watching the video I begin to like it more and more this guy is so American and his garage there's so many good points about this video that makes you be proud to be an American when you were driving home from the purchase the music the views on the way home really makes me proud to be an American it just came together as a great indication to not take things for granted in this country with the state of this administration trying to tear this country apart it's awesome to see Americans like this gentleman who represent this country wonderful job with the video it's not glamorous it's not overdone he gets right to the point it's like catching lightning in a bottle it's almost emotional in my opinion God bless America God bless men like this who represent America keep up the good work and may God bless you and your family awesome job buddy 🙏👍💪😁🇺🇲

It's absolutely gorgeous. Drive and enjoy it. Making me love corvettes. I could fix that seat🎉 a pro can go over all those little chips and make that car perfect. Spray some wd40 down the mast hole of antenna

Thanks @robertsweet4112! The vette was wonderful to have around while we fixed all the bugs. Seat got fixed by a pro, the paint turned out great and we also repaired the broken antenna. Thanks for watching and go through the playlist to see all the corvette goodness.

Ok if I had to be honest, the corvette is in crazy good condition for 38,000 miles, minus a few bad things here and there. Also, thanks for the stickers!

I bought a ‘78, new, cash. I hated the car, but I was with my friend, on my way to the Dodge dealership to by me a Warlock.
As we were looking at this anniversary edition, I wiped some dust off the passengers fender, and was verbally attacked by a salesman who flew over to us. He said that I was a filthy bum, who could never afford even the floormat. Major mistake, that he didn’t know who I was. Or, that the dealership owner was close friends with my folks.

From my experience, you are better off just replacing as many simple things what need fixing as possible, and then detailing the paint, interior, undercarriage , engine bay, etc as much as possible. Align the doors, replace door and window weatherstripping, polish, Clean and sell. I did very well ( doubling what I paid for cars ) by doing those things. Get rid of rattles and squeaks, make sure it starts, drives, and stops well. Most people who have owned cars for many years lose interest or don’t have the time to prep their old car before selling it. I resisted the temptation to modify or “upgrade” the engine, transmission, exhaust, because those “upgrades” will only detract from the value.

Hay man, great buy. I have number 3958. GM only made 6502 of these cars. Most were the L48/automatics. Mine is the L82/4 speed. I have done extensive research on these cars and if you have any questions, I’d like to help.
Just my humble opinion here, it’s not a Concourse car. If the AC blows cold leave it, drive it, enjoy it. I’ve put $3,000 into my AC and with the newer freon junk it keeps shelling the compressor. Don’t open that can of worms if you don’t have too. Break booster, same thing. If the breaks work, and obviously they do… enjoy it.
I am trying to track down as many of these cars as I can. When I say that, what I do is by VIN on an Excel spreadsheet, list the options that are on the car and the date code. I’d appreciate it if I could add your car to the list. To date I have found 1,105 of the 6,502.All I would need is the last six digits of the VIN and the date code from the trim tag on the a-pillar above the top driver’s side door hinge. The letter and two digit number in the upper right hand corner of the tag.
Again if I can answer any questions for you just let me know. I love talking about these cars.

We have this car and the headlights do not pop up, any suggestions? I have not had mine over 50mph one of the rear brakes grabs where as the opposite brake has a leak so I do not push it.

    • @jeffbegley7755
      @jeffbegley7755 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@nathanielmorton659 The headlight doors are vacuum operated. there are videos on you tube that show how to check the vacuum system and rebuild/replace components. If you can't find one that helps, let me know and I'll see what I can do. As for the brakes, new calipers are an easy find and replace. Not sure of the cost lately. I'm guessing around 400-500 for a set of four, but I'm not sure.

Exactly.... The pace car came standard with an L48, but the L82 was an upgrade option. My dad had the silver anniversary model with an L48 and sold it (10 years ago) for $12k and only had 30k original miles... Spent most of it's life with the frame on blocks garaged.

I have a 1977 with the leather steering wheel it was the first time that Chevrolet put them in a corvette and the pace car was the first time they made a change in the Corvette the dash is all new and the back window was the first time for that and all 1978 though 1982 had that and the dash because my 1977 has the old dash from 1969 though 1977 has the original dash and in 1978 the car was changed to what you see now witch is all new

    • @freedom1garage

The DEAL was we got our hands on a low miles, numbers matching collectible Corvette for what we felt was a bargain. Then we made the car as close to perfect survivor as possible.
As for value, here's a couple of links we use to follow the market.
