I'm pretty sure there is some "trick" with camera, as there is allways with DJI cameras? Does it take LOG mode with all framerates etc.? Is 4k 120fps 10bit, log?

I bought a Pocket 3 at launch and have used it for over a day now. DJI really hit the mark with this version of the Pocket. The image quality is excellent compared to my iPhone 14 Pro. Footage is stable even in lowlight-something the phones and action cameras fail miserably at. The DJI Mic 2 that comes with the creator bundle is a must have! It has 32-bit float backup recording and starts and stops wirelessly from the Pocket 3-it even vibrates to tell you it’s starting recording. The pocket 3 turns on almost instantly and the Mic connects and starts recording instantly as well. The On board mic is surprisingly good and very useable in a pinch. The screen is a huge upgrade. Large and bright and even has space for a cheeky audio meter. A firmware updated added sharpness and noise reduction control. There are just so many nice touches that make this device the perfect camera for vlogging and making videos for TH-cam or capturing family moments.
The 14 and 15 Pro blow this thing away, youre high AF 😂 The colors are straight garbage and so is the log.Its got a tiny little screen impossible to see in any kind of sunlight and the sound is mediocre at best. The sharpness and noise reduction applied is straight garbage too. $700 😂 You can get a complete lightly used M43 system that is much more versatile and will blow this toy away for less money.
@@michaelbell75 iPhone 15 Pros normal video has HDR flicker and terrible over processed HDR highlights. To shoot apple-log requires you to shoot at insane ProRes bitrates that eats up internal storage. iPhone EIS falls apart in even moderate lowlight. If you are filming yourself with an iPhone and you want to use the best camera you have to turn the device around and your big awesome screen is worthless 🤣 No wireless mic nears as good or convenient for the iPhone as the Osmo.
Your channel is the only channel I trust with camera review. It is not just fun, but the insight is at the highest level unlike all the hobo TH-camrs loud and noisy.
Especially comparing to other content cameras like ZV1 and II, nikon z30, etc. Pocket 3 is smart - the gimbal & 1 inch sensor fill a gap left by phones that depend on EIS that depends on 1/250 or faster frame rates that destroy image quality in lower light.
I have NOT been waiting for a DJI 1 inch Pocket camera for two years....but I HAVE been waiting on Kasey's REVIEW of a 1 inch Pocket camera for two years!!
You can indeed lower sharpness and noise reduction to -2. It helps a lot. You can set in all picture profiles (needs to set separately for each) and all frames rates. The only mode you can’t is the low light mode. You can only access it on the camera, not the app. It’s in the pro section and called “image adjustment”. The mist filter is definitely too strong for me. All in all it’s pretty impressive! Whilst not for you I guess, the DJI MIC 2 with internal 32 bit float recording is a huge plus!
I think it's a fantastic sign that DJI keeps innovating where other established companies have given up on true innovation. I said it a while ago when I saw their Ronin 4d... sure, that monster was ridiculous, but some of the cool tech will trickle down and I truly hope they will make a mid-range exchangeable lens camera at some point!
They purposely leave you out of the loop because your channel thrives off having the scrub hobo perspective. Wouldn’t have it any other way myself, I love this channel. Nobody can review an item they don’t have better than you.
yep. with the initial launch they wanted the glossy happy reviews (even if for once this camera meets expectations) and they know no matter how good the camera is you'll find something to slam... they want 100% positive on day 1.

The DJI Pocket 3 was given to TH-camrs who don't even have 20k to review, but they all gives good marks and avoids criticizing. Maybe DJI is afraid of what you will say about the new camera and they didn't want to risk sending you one and getting a negative review, which is very possible because you are not only objective but sometimes too critical - for the sake of the channel's wit, but it can also be distracting companies from cooperating with you. Being special is a double-edged sword.
And probably made them sign contracts making it so they can't say anything negative about it in their reviews. I heard Jackery tried doing this with a TH-camr and he said no thanks.
All of the big TH-camrs are lazy and just regurgitate the marketing without even testing if they are legit. It’s best to wait a week to watch the item being tested by real reviewers who had to buy it. Like me hahahahhah

I’ve been watching every one of your videos for the last 5 months since I found your channel and this is probably the first time I’ve felt your pain/annoyance/hurt for not getting a pre-launch unit. When I saw this camera drop a few days ago, I actually went to your channel first to see what your reaction would be. I too was let down because I would not get to see that early reaction on what looks to be a really nice piece of technology. DJI dropped the ball on that!!! Love this for 2 main reasons….(1)I thought the same; pretty much means you don’t need another camera unless you need to zoom or something is waterproof. (2) And you didn’t get paid to do the review unlike most of the other reviewers who get $500 + to do their reviews (they say they aren’t sponsored, but then they keep the $500+ camera). Seems like so little to give up their integrity. Anyway, no concerns if you either buy or return a camera once done…or simply say you are being compensated to do a review. Humour and integrity here! And surprisingly…you offer much more critical commentary…amazing how not being compensated does that.

I read that DJI had a meeting about sending you a Pocket 3 for review, involving wigs and fantastic dialogue. Somehow a black-and-white recording of that meeting is missing from this video.
NOT just for vlogging... I have a Pocket 1 and it's literally never been used to vlog. I do live sound for bands. I own a Sony A7Siii + gimbal, but I haven't got time or desire to mess with that monster while doing a show by myself. If I take that monster out, then I need an assistant. But the Pocket 1... well, I mix remotely from the console using a tablet which allows me to walk around the whole venue, not be stuck in a "sound booth". It's not hard at all to have the tablet in one hand , Osmo Pocket 1 in the other, and get some nice promo shots for the band or myself. Meanwhile the console is recording the live audio in much higher quality, and its easy to sync the video to the HQ audio from the console in post. The Pocket 1 looks waaaaaay better than any cell phone recording (and surprisingly, focuses better than most as well), so for me, this is a fantastic solution when I want some quick & easy videos. The Pocket 3 looks like a legit upgrade, since most music shows are a bit sparse on light, the 1" sensor seems like it might be a better option.
I’ve had issues with batteries that aren’t replaceable. I loved my Surface Pro 4 and bought the most expensive one, and the battery swelled so big the case opened up. And just recently my DXO One battery seems to not be able to hold a charge anymore. Two products I loved, but not being able to remove the battery has sort of become a deal breaker for me.
Very poor form from DJI for not sending you the Pocket 3. It leaves me feeling a little negative towards DJI. Hopefully they can make this right and send you one as i don't really like many of the current reviews of the Pocket 3. I love your videos as I don't always have to be watching the screen because of your unique commentary.
I think I'm done with big cameras. From this point, I'm only gonna carry the following: 1. iPhone 13 Pro 2. Osmo Action 3 3. Osmo Pocket 3 4. DJI Mini 4 It's kinda crazy how far technology has come.

I have similar setup but I still have G9mk2 on order. Shooting my kids soccer match still need a real camera and the MFT with 2x crop can get you 400mm like a 70-200 in full frame. Size does matter.
I think in most cases that a good strat, but for many of us we need range, that would be the only thing you would lack, and digital zoom is...well......trash.

Why does the camera industry refuse to innovate and incorporate some UX solutions to bring people over from phones beyond adding filter sliders from 2009 Instagram? This thing is such an easy win.
I've owned the pocket 1 and zv-1 and I really enjoyed the usability of the compact camera much better overall. Pocket had its obvious pros but some of the cons were needing to always put it back in and out of the case in fear of breaking the gimbal (i dont use a case for zv-1), screen was small (improved now but still smaller), less buttons for controls...switching back and forth from video & photo was annoying, no zoom, can't swap out battery, need special mounts to attached to regular tripod, Pocket uses micro SD cards (i've had a few micro SD's fail on me already) and last...maybe its just me but there is something intuitive about shooting video with a compact camera where you just point it at your subject compared to always taking that little consideration on where the gimbal is actually pointing. These things made me end up taking the ZV-1 over the pocket which I thought was a very cool camera. I still take it out once in a while for the novelty.
I am just gonna say it - I don't really like the footage coming out of the Pocket 3. Something about it reminds me of phone footage. It might just be shutter speed/sharpening issue, it just looks off to my eyes. Maybe a little ND could solve that, I feel like it is a bit overhyped.
Totally agree with your thoughts on this.. the battery situation & no mic jack for a start is just stupid.. especially as they added some nice features but let themselves down in the end.. I'm still an X3000 fan too.. lol Still waiting for the X4000

Was really looking forward to picking this up as soon as it dropped, but the cost here has me having to do the math to see if its worth it to drop half the money it would take to get into a more professional system. Its around the price where I could sell my camera and take what I WOULD spend on this to get an a7s3 now that people are dumping them into marketplace before the a7s4 is announced. sigh..
Re the non-replaceable battery - there are YT videos of people replacing the battery in the Pocket 1 & 2. It's a hassle and requires a little soldering and prying open the case with a spudger, but can be done.
You forgot to mention the biggest flaw of other action cams that this one does great. Focus on the subject, it has decent PDAF and at f2.0 with 1" sensor it also blurs the backgound a bit. That alone is a good enough reason for a vlogger to consider its purchase.
The DJI Pocket 3 looks great and as a Pocket 2 user I will upgrade some day, if all the accessories are available (including a underwater case). I would definitely recommend the ND filters, since the pockets have a fixed aperture. Build in or electronic ND would be my next wish for these kind of cameras.
I don't think it's unreasonable to assume that DJI contacted him already with the intent of ghosting him after. The camera conspiracy runs deep and gaslighting is just one tool in their kit.

I think it looks amazing and at 10bit beats my Sony A7iii. But like you say, i will continue to use what i have and enjoy that. Maybe in a few years buy one. I should take a shower too once in a while =)
The pocket 3 looks really strong. I want to know if it's going to work well for running. Never tried a gimble camera for running so I'm not sure if that form works as well or better than just stabilised footage

@@TopblokeGolf Isn't that commendable though that they are helping small channels get some exposure? They send to big channels, people question their motives. They send to small channels, people question their motives. These companies can't win. I think here they have obviously sent to both small and large channels. I think Kasey's story of the dji rep also highlights that there is also a question of local marketing reps making the decisions and maybe in some cases being rubbish at their jobs, as opposed to the top brass in the boardrooms. Also this channel falls somewhere in the middle between small and big. Much bigger than most but still nowhere as big as the Potato Jets etc...(yet)
This release has me at an inpass: Do I clunk around my A7sIII (which is the biggest barrier to me actually using it,) or do I get this, which a pocket version of it (for the most part). I was going to get the 20mm prime to make my A7sIII a little bit smaller of a package, but this is still cheaper than that and checks a lot of the boxes (cause let's face it, the A7sIII is overkill for most things). Edit: 5 min after writing this comment I realized I'm a moron.
Does one still have to register an account with all verified personal information or the camera will brick itself after one hour of use? That was always my big problem with DJI cameras. It makes some sense with their drones, but far less with a pocket camera.
DJI sent the Pocket 3 free of charge to creators that will NEVER use it ever again for actual content creation. These content creators will go back to using their BIG camera rigs vs other content creators that will really have a use for them. This is also why the price goes up on these cameras, we end up paying out of pocket with a small percentage to cover the cost of DJI sending cameras for free to these other content creators that dont even need this thing. 😅 it would have been nice for DJI to have sent you one as you are actually a Vlogger. They missed the mark.

The ZV-1 with a small gimbal is still better. First of all, the lens is 10 times better, plus it zooms. Plus you can use it like a camera and take really good pictures. You can use it with or without a gimbal. It has a real mic jack. It has a tripod socket on the bottom. It has replaceable batteries. It has a flippy screen. You can add an adapter and add any filter you want, like a real adjustable ND filter. You can add a remote. You can add a wide angle lens that’s actually good. The Osmo Pocket 3 seems like a good deal at first, but like you said, it’s a one trick pony. It would have been excellent with a removable battery, a real mic jack, and two tripod sockets, one in the bottom, and one in the back.
"First of all, the lens is 10 times better, plus it zooms." Nice calculation, but ZV-1 is 24mm wideangle, 30mm with active stab, whereas DJI is 20mm. "It has a real mic jack." on the other hand DJI has integrated transmitter and you can plug your jack mic there and you don't need to put transmitter on hotshoe like with Sony "It has replaceable batteries." Big one, but the problem is that ZV-1 lasts 30 minutes when recording 4K and overheats on top of that too. If you don't need continuous shooting (overheating on Sony) but you can take bulk (Sony bateries) then just take powerbank, because Pocket has fast charging. "It has a flippy screen" And how is that superior to 360 degree DJI screen? There's no way to block DJI screen, you can shoot from any angle, whereas you don't see ZV-1 screen from right side as body or lens will block your view. "You can add an adapter" and here you add magnetic filters without any adapters. "You can add a remote." just like DJI, but DJI has superior app on top of that. "You can add a wide angle lens that’s actually good" These Ulanzi/Neweer adapters that you're talking about introduce a lot of distortion, loss of resolution, a lot of flare and abysmal CA. There's no way you just put it above DJI actual 20mm lens. And if you are talking about adapters then well, DJI is wider and also with bottom adapter you get tripod socket. And don't forget: 4k60, 4k120, 10bit, bright screen, you can take it in your hand and only small lens will come out of your hand - very discreet which allows you to shoot in public areas where "real cameras" aren't allowed. I had ZV-1 and videos straight out of camera aren't not even close in terms of IQ compared to Pocket 3 videos that are heavily compressed on TH-cam, especially in lowlight. ZV-1 is better photo camera, but DJI Pocket 3 is vastly superior with being pocketable video camera. If you don't need pocketability (you are talking about these big wideangle filters for Sony) then just get ZV-E10, way better camera. Personally I'm going with DJI Pocket 3 + A6700 with Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 for 2024 travels. Best pocket video camera + best small video camera. ZV-1 is this in-between that COULD be it, but it needs solid update - 10bit, 4k60, lower power consumption (better battery life, less overheating). ZV-1 with extra batteries combined is just as big as APS-C cameras in terms of bulk with way inferior IQ and you get overheating on top of that.

Politics: you should have taken the drone and played the backscratching game. Anyway, the Pocket 3 isn't going to reach into the action camera market or the interchangeable lens market. People who use action cams for their sports aren't going to use the Pocket 3 because the action cam is much more rugged. And the interchangeable lens crowd want the versatility of being able to swap focal lengths. And the folks who use one hybrid for photo and video aren't going to change. So it will likely hit the vlogger market and not much else. However, price is a factor. The base price is US$519, which is pretty steep for what it is.

Immediately thought of you when I saw this one come out. Always appreciate the insight! I ended up getting one because of the low-light performance and just how simple it is to set up and go.
An action camera on a gimbal would never ever replace an actual camera, with optical zoom and more shaper higher resolution autofocus with bokeh etc. cool little vlog camera, but I can see it thrown in a drawer and replaced for an actual camera when someone doesn’t want to fiddle around with the compact size.
I just got mine today... found something strange within 5 mins.... it is amazing for so many things... even close focus and some background blur... what more do you need ? 20mm lens, and 15mm with the wide angle. But.... if you are using it to film infront of you ... urm..... the pan left stops at 58 degrees ... what ? ok, so it is a vlogging camera and is designed to film yourself so the pan is great when it's pointing at your face and has active tracking of your face... awesome... but walk down a street and try to pan left and right ahead of you and oh... you have to learn to twist left and lok at the screen at an angle to see what you arr filming. But, in anycase, go create !!!
do you still need to make sure your phone works with the camera so you can get rhe aop so they can mine your phone and brick your camera when ever they want?
I think ypu could use your wide angle filter with the mist filter jury rig stuck onto it, just figute how exactly you want to do that... but as long as they are in that order, you should be able to use both. Once you rig something up. Maybe buy a pair and permanently affix them? I'm thinking of using strips cut frok the 3M red super sticky adhesive.
With the battery, it depends on what type it is. If im not mistaken they could be using capacitors instead of Li-Ion batteries. Capacitors are safe to charge and use at the same time if you don't exceed the capacitors limits. Perhaps the camera has a capacitor and the battery packs are Li-Ion. I hope they expected people to use battery packs a lot and compensated for that in some way at least.

Yes, definitely. DJI adressed almost everything and took it up a notch, which is extremely rare these days.
The 14 and 15 Pro blow this thing away, youre high AF 😂 The colors are straight garbage and so is the log.Its got a tiny little screen impossible to see in any kind of sunlight and the sound is mediocre at best. The sharpness and noise reduction applied is straight garbage too. $700 😂 You can get a complete lightly used M43 system that is much more versatile and will blow this toy away for less money.
How does the mix compare with the wireless set they already released I have the set they released within the last year. Does it sync up do you know?

To shoot apple-log requires you to shoot at insane ProRes bitrates that eats up internal storage.
iPhone EIS falls apart in even moderate lowlight.
If you are filming yourself with an iPhone and you want to use the best camera you have to turn the device around and your big awesome screen is worthless 🤣
No wireless mic nears as good or convenient for the iPhone as the Osmo.
Your channel is the only channel I trust with camera review. It is not just fun, but the insight is at the highest level unlike all the hobo TH-camrs loud and noisy.
Especially comparing to other content cameras like ZV1 and II, nikon z30, etc. Pocket 3 is smart - the gimbal & 1 inch sensor fill a gap left by phones that depend on EIS that depends on 1/250 or faster frame rates that destroy image quality in lower light.

You can indeed lower sharpness and noise reduction to -2. It helps a lot. You can set in all picture profiles (needs to set separately for each) and all frames rates. The only mode you can’t is the low light mode.
You can only access it on the camera, not the app. It’s in the pro section and called “image adjustment”.
The mist filter is definitely too strong for me.
All in all it’s pretty impressive! Whilst not for you I guess, the DJI MIC 2 with internal 32 bit float recording is a huge plus!
For 99% of content creators, this is pretty much all you need. Tossing my C70 in the garbage! ;)

I think it's a fantastic sign that DJI keeps innovating where other established companies have given up on true innovation. I said it a while ago when I saw their Ronin 4d... sure, that monster was ridiculous, but some of the cool tech will trickle down and I truly hope they will make a mid-range exchangeable lens camera at some point!

The DJI Pocket 3 was given to TH-camrs who don't even have 20k to review, but they all gives good marks and avoids criticizing. Maybe DJI is afraid of what you will say about the new camera and they didn't want to risk sending you one and getting a negative review, which is very possible because you are not only objective but sometimes too critical - for the sake of the channel's wit, but it can also be distracting companies from cooperating with you. Being special is a double-edged sword.
And probably made them sign contracts making it so they can't say anything negative about it in their reviews. I heard Jackery tried doing this with a TH-camr and he said no thanks.
All of the big TH-camrs are lazy and just regurgitate the marketing without even testing if they are legit.
It’s best to wait a week to watch the item being tested by real reviewers who had to buy it. Like me hahahahhah

I’ve been watching every one of your videos for the last 5 months since I found your channel and this is probably the first time I’ve felt your pain/annoyance/hurt for not getting a pre-launch unit. When I saw this camera drop a few days ago, I actually went to your channel first to see what your reaction would be. I too was let down because I would not get to see that early reaction on what looks to be a really nice piece of technology. DJI dropped the ball on that!!! But keep providing your infotaining perspective on cameras, it’s definitely appreciated and enjoyed, even for us beginner camera folks!!!

Love this for 2 main reasons….(1)I thought the same; pretty much means you don’t need another camera unless you need to zoom or something is waterproof. (2) And you didn’t get paid to do the review unlike most of the other reviewers who get $500 + to do their reviews (they say they aren’t sponsored, but then they keep the $500+ camera). Seems like so little to give up their integrity. Anyway, no concerns if you either buy or return a camera once done…or simply say you are being compensated to do a review. Humour and integrity here! And surprisingly…you offer much more critical commentary…amazing how not being compensated does that.

I read that DJI had a meeting about sending you a Pocket 3 for review, involving wigs and fantastic dialogue. Somehow a black-and-white recording of that meeting is missing from this video.
NOT just for vlogging... I have a Pocket 1 and it's literally never been used to vlog. I do live sound for bands. I own a Sony A7Siii + gimbal, but I haven't got time or desire to mess with that monster while doing a show by myself. If I take that monster out, then I need an assistant. But the Pocket 1... well, I mix remotely from the console using a tablet which allows me to walk around the whole venue, not be stuck in a "sound booth". It's not hard at all to have the tablet in one hand , Osmo Pocket 1 in the other, and get some nice promo shots for the band or myself. Meanwhile the console is recording the live audio in much higher quality, and its easy to sync the video to the HQ audio from the console in post. The Pocket 1 looks waaaaaay better than any cell phone recording (and surprisingly, focuses better than most as well), so for me, this is a fantastic solution when I want some quick & easy videos. The Pocket 3 looks like a legit upgrade, since most music shows are a bit sparse on light, the 1" sensor seems like it might be a better option.

I’ve had issues with batteries that aren’t replaceable.
I loved my Surface Pro 4 and bought the most expensive one, and the battery swelled so big the case opened up.
And just recently my DXO One battery seems to not be able to hold a charge anymore. Two products I loved, but not being able to remove the battery has sort of become a deal breaker for me.
You can turn down sharpness, but the setting is hidden in the pro controls bit

I have similar setup but I still have G9mk2 on order. Shooting my kids soccer match still need a real camera and the MFT with 2x crop can get you 400mm like a 70-200 in full frame. Size does matter.
I think in most cases that a good strat, but for many of us we need range, that would be the only thing you would lack, and digital zoom is...well......trash.

I've owned the pocket 1 and zv-1 and I really enjoyed the usability of the compact camera much better overall. Pocket had its obvious pros but some of the cons were needing to always put it back in and out of the case in fear of breaking the gimbal (i dont use a case for zv-1), screen was small (improved now but still smaller), less buttons for controls...switching back and forth from video & photo was annoying, no zoom, can't swap out battery, need special mounts to attached to regular tripod, Pocket uses micro SD cards (i've had a few micro SD's fail on me already) and last...maybe its just me but there is something intuitive about shooting video with a compact camera where you just point it at your subject compared to always taking that little consideration on where the gimbal is actually pointing. These things made me end up taking the ZV-1 over the pocket which I thought was a very cool camera. I still take it out once in a while for the novelty.

I am just gonna say it - I don't really like the footage coming out of the Pocket 3. Something about it reminds me of phone footage. It might just be shutter speed/sharpening issue, it just looks off to my eyes. Maybe a little ND could solve that, I feel like it is a bit overhyped.

Was really looking forward to picking this up as soon as it dropped, but the cost here has me having to do the math to see if its worth it to drop half the money it would take to get into a more professional system. Its around the price where I could sell my camera and take what I WOULD spend on this to get an a7s3 now that people are dumping them into marketplace before the a7s4 is announced. sigh..

Re the non-replaceable battery - there are YT videos of people replacing the battery in the Pocket 1 & 2. It's a hassle and requires a little soldering and prying open the case with a spudger, but can be done.
Great video..its very good, but I'm a bit of a pocket fan boy, however the 4k 120 is Not that good..battery gets a bit hot , but seems ok so far..

You forgot to mention the biggest flaw of other action cams that this one does great. Focus on the subject, it has decent PDAF and at f2.0 with 1" sensor it also blurs the backgound a bit. That alone is a good enough reason for a vlogger to consider its purchase.

The DJI Pocket 3 looks great and as a Pocket 2 user I will upgrade some day, if all the accessories are available (including a underwater case). I would definitely recommend the ND filters, since the pockets have a fixed aperture. Build in or electronic ND would be my next wish for these kind of cameras.
ND filters set is a must for bright conditions with flickering LED displays. Too bad it's not available yet around here.

The pocket 3 looks really strong. I want to know if it's going to work well for running. Never tried a gimble camera for running so I'm not sure if that form works as well or better than just stabilised footage

You need a Z axis stabilizer and it works smooth as butter, otherwise you get the bumpy look

They send to small channels, people question their motives. These companies can't win. I think here they have obviously sent to both small and large channels. I think Kasey's story of the dji rep also highlights that there is also a question of local marketing reps making the decisions and maybe in some cases being rubbish at their jobs, as opposed to the top brass in the boardrooms. Also this channel falls somewhere in the middle between small and big. Much bigger than most but still nowhere as big as the Potato Jets etc...(yet)

This release has me at an inpass: Do I clunk around my A7sIII (which is the biggest barrier to me actually using it,) or do I get this, which a pocket version of it (for the most part). I was going to get the 20mm prime to make my A7sIII a little bit smaller of a package, but this is still cheaper than that and checks a lot of the boxes (cause let's face it, the A7sIII is overkill for most things).

Does one still have to register an account with all verified personal information or the camera will brick itself after one hour of use? That was always my big problem with DJI cameras. It makes some sense with their drones, but far less with a pocket camera.

DJI sent the Pocket 3 free of charge to creators that will NEVER use it ever again for actual content creation. These content creators will go back to using their BIG camera rigs vs other content creators that will really have a use for them. This is also why the price goes up on these cameras, we end up paying out of pocket with a small percentage to cover the cost of DJI sending cameras for free to these other content creators that dont even need this thing. 😅 it would have been nice for DJI to have sent you one as you are actually a Vlogger. They missed the mark.

The ZV-1 with a small gimbal is still better. First of all, the lens is 10 times better, plus it zooms. Plus you can use it like a camera and take really good pictures. You can use it with or without a gimbal. It has a real mic jack. It has a tripod socket on the bottom. It has replaceable batteries. It has a flippy screen. You can add an adapter and add any filter you want, like a real adjustable ND filter. You can add a remote. You can add a wide angle lens that’s actually good. The Osmo Pocket 3 seems like a good deal at first, but like you said, it’s a one trick pony. It would have been excellent with a removable battery, a real mic jack, and two tripod sockets, one in the bottom, and one in the back.

"It has a real mic jack." on the other hand DJI has integrated transmitter and you can plug your jack mic there and you don't need to put transmitter on hotshoe like with Sony
"It has replaceable batteries." Big one, but the problem is that ZV-1 lasts 30 minutes when recording 4K and overheats on top of that too. If you don't need continuous shooting (overheating on Sony) but you can take bulk (Sony bateries) then just take powerbank, because Pocket has fast charging.
"It has a flippy screen" And how is that superior to 360 degree DJI screen? There's no way to block DJI screen, you can shoot from any angle, whereas you don't see ZV-1 screen from right side as body or lens will block your view.
"You can add an adapter" and here you add magnetic filters without any adapters.
"You can add a remote." just like DJI, but DJI has superior app on top of that.
"You can add a wide angle lens that’s actually good" These Ulanzi/Neweer adapters that you're talking about introduce a lot of distortion, loss of resolution, a lot of flare and abysmal CA. There's no way you just put it above DJI actual 20mm lens. And if you are talking about adapters then well, DJI is wider and also with bottom adapter you get tripod socket.
And don't forget: 4k60, 4k120, 10bit, bright screen, you can take it in your hand and only small lens will come out of your hand - very discreet which allows you to shoot in public areas where "real cameras" aren't allowed.
I had ZV-1 and videos straight out of camera aren't not even close in terms of IQ compared to Pocket 3 videos that are heavily compressed on TH-cam, especially in lowlight.
ZV-1 is better photo camera, but DJI Pocket 3 is vastly superior with being pocketable video camera.
If you don't need pocketability (you are talking about these big wideangle filters for Sony) then just get ZV-E10, way better camera.
Personally I'm going with DJI Pocket 3 + A6700 with Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 for 2024 travels. Best pocket video camera + best small video camera. ZV-1 is this in-between that COULD be it, but it needs solid update - 10bit, 4k60, lower power consumption (better battery life, less overheating). ZV-1 with extra batteries combined is just as big as APS-C cameras in terms of bulk with way inferior IQ and you get overheating on top of that.

Politics: you should have taken the drone and played the backscratching game. Anyway, the Pocket 3 isn't going to reach into the action camera market or the interchangeable lens market. People who use action cams for their sports aren't going to use the Pocket 3 because the action cam is much more rugged. And the interchangeable lens crowd want the versatility of being able to swap focal lengths. And the folks who use one hybrid for photo and video aren't going to change. So it will likely hit the vlogger market and not much else. However, price is a factor. The base price is US$519, which is pretty steep for what it is.
Price. It's why I've never bought one of these things. Way too much for what they are.
Now you can shoot 4k/120 in D-Log M... Just need to update the firmware.

Immediately thought of you when I saw this one come out. Always appreciate the insight! I ended up getting one because of the low-light performance and just how simple it is to set up and go.
An action camera on a gimbal would never ever replace an actual camera, with optical zoom and more shaper higher resolution autofocus with bokeh etc. cool little vlog camera, but I can see it thrown in a drawer and replaced for an actual camera when someone doesn’t want to fiddle around with the compact size.
Not even fuj battery? Both of mine died after bulging, I did use them for 2+ years
I just got mine today... found something strange within 5 mins.... it is amazing for so many things... even close focus and some background blur... what more do you need ? 20mm lens, and 15mm with the wide angle. But.... if you are using it to film infront of you ... urm..... the pan left stops at 58 degrees ... what ? ok, so it is a vlogging camera and is designed to film yourself so the pan is great when it's pointing at your face and has active tracking of your face... awesome... but walk down a street and try to pan left and right ahead of you and oh... you have to learn to twist left and lok at the screen at an angle to see what you arr filming. But, in anycase, go create !!!

I think ypu could use your wide angle filter with the mist filter jury rig stuck onto it, just figute how exactly you want to do that... but as long as they are in that order, you should be able to use both. Once you rig something up. Maybe buy a pair and permanently affix them? I'm thinking of using strips cut frok the 3M red super sticky adhesive.
With the battery, it depends on what type it is. If im not mistaken they could be using capacitors instead of Li-Ion batteries. Capacitors are safe to charge and use at the same time if you don't exceed the capacitors limits. Perhaps the camera has a capacitor and the battery packs are Li-Ion. I hope they expected people to use battery packs a lot and compensated for that in some way at least.
