    Thank you for showing how to adjust the patterns. Sometimes the simplist things to me are the hardest to figure out. Love your videos and the time it takes to do them. Heidi

    I haven't had one of those gloves in years, well since the ove-glove came out. I think I need to make a pair! Thank you for the great tutorial!

    Hi Sherrill. I love you and your videos that you teach us. I have learned a lot from you. But sometimes I wish you would video your sewing so we can see it. I'm struggling with that sometimes because I have been an on and off sewer and need more help. Thank you for all your videos and blessings to you!

      Hi Jan. Here is a link to an apron video. Use Christmas fabric that matches the oven mitts. Happy sewing.

    Thank you so much for sharing all of your wonderful ideas! Your tutorials are perfectly descriptive and easy to follow.
    I have a question about which fabrics to use. I have a ton of scrap fabric that I would like to use but I'm not sure how to know if it is heat resistant.
    Is any fabric and thread okay to use for an oven mitt or potholder as long as it stands up to an iron, or is there a specific type of fabric and thread that must be used? And if so, what is it called?
    Thanks in advance for any help you can give this beginner!

    Around 9:30 in the video you said to sew the 2 sides together and next it shows the cuff is already on the Mitt. I need to know what to do in between that time. I'm still new at sewing and I'm struggling to figure it out. Thank you.

    Did you do a video for your apron, too? That would make such a sweet gift, along with the matching mitts!

    Getting into the gifting mindset! This was a helpful tutorial~ does it matter which side of the insulbrite is facing outward or toward the hand?

    • @dcwatashi
      @dcwatashi 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it does. Mine has two sides and one is clearly more metallic than the other and that would be facing towards the wrong side of the outside fabric. Just imagine holding something hot you want that reflective coating to reflect back towards that item

    • @camagnuson6108
      @camagnuson6108 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually, it doesn't matter.

    • @camagnuson6108
      @camagnuson6108 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dcwatashi no, id doesn't matter. The heat doesn't cross the boundary -- regardless of the direction it is "facing".

    • @dcwatashi
      @dcwatashi 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@camagnuson6108 it depends how old your insulbrite is. the newer products it doesn't matter but the older ones it definitely does. You should watch the oven mitt tutorial from The Crafty Gemini. In one video the product she using it doesn't matter but in another video it definitely matters

    Good video but on the insul-brite you didn’t specify which way that needs to go, shiny side up or down or did you say and I didn’t catch it.tks

    • @TheSewingRoomChannel
      @TheSewingRoomChannel  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Gladis. On the instructions that come with Insul-Bright they do not state it either. So I assume that it can go in either direction. Look on the package for their web address. Maybe they will have more information their. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing.

    Ah hello??? You neglected to show where you are sewing the loop to hang the oven mitts by. I am just going to sew it into the half inch seam of the binding. for anyone else reading this message I would suggest basting the ends of the loop first just to keep it in place

    • @TheSewingRoomChannel
      @TheSewingRoomChannel  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Dcwatasgi. In my kitchen I don't have a space to hand it on the wall - we keep it in the drawer. To make a loop: cut a strip 2" x 4" - fold the edges towards the center and press - then fold again in half and press - stitch the edge closed - fold in half and stitch it into the seam. Thanks for watching, and happing sewing.

    • @dcwatashi

      @@TheSewingRoomChannel into the seam of the oven mitt or into the seam of the binding? Right now I've already sewn together one mitt so I think I'm going to have to sew it into the binding seam so both match

      H Dcwatashi. In the seam, but stitching it in the binding is ok. Happy sewing
