    It's amazing that she originally wanted to be a Mozart soprano. Verdi suits her voice so perfectly.

      This idea of a singer being a composer's exclusive is bizarre as a concept. And non-existent in practice. Plus, there is nothing that says that if you sing Mozart, you cannot sing Verdi, or the other way around. Your functional range, as a singer should be able to encompass much more than the scope of a couple of roles. (And when you say a "Mozart soprano" what exactly do you mean? Vitellia, Barbarina, Elvira, The Queen of the Night, The Countess of Almaviva, Anna, Ilia, Fiordiligi, Dorabella, Blöndchen, Elettra, or Cherubino?

    There is a NOTABLE WOBBLE from pushing the voice to make a larger sound . The lower voice indicates she is a LYRIC soprano. LISTEN to ROSA PONSELLE, ZINKA MILANOV,

    • @dijeanhorton
      @dijeanhorton 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      MrSkylark1 I have to agree with you. Her high c is noticeably thin and detached from the middle and lower registers. I don’t necessarily here a wobble but the vibrato is definitely heavy and labored. I believe she is the byproduct of singers trained to sing too big to young and not properly cultivating true head voice. If you listen to leontyne price in her twenties the voice was head dominant and grew darker and fuller over time.

    • @chipichipichapachapa733

      I don't think the high C is detached but I agree that the voice seems a bit "pushy".

      No I agree I think she is a lyric soprano who has pushed for a larger sound. Her current Madame Butterlfy has a wobble and the wobble is from pushing. She should stick to Verdi but elsewhere.

    I think she darkens the voice as so many are doing now. This causes the wobble you hear emerging. A dreadful trend that is ruining voices.

    Opera is the sum of music, voices, story, acting. Sorry but she is completely unbelievable. Of course Americans are used to obesity so they don't mind.

      I for one am sick of pretty, skinny singers with, hooty, screechy, hollow voices over emoting and chewing up scenery, to make up for the lack of a rich, full, opulent, sound they cannot produce. All the acting and looking the character in the world will not help you if the voice is a tiny pip squeak of a voice and you cannot handle the music or be heard over the orchestra! Aida can weigh 800 pounds just let her sing like a Goddess!

      @@joemiller6975 You're missing one of the main reason for opera to have some credibillity. As I said, Americans don't mind since 70% suffer from some form of obesity.

      @@georgesclermont1911 Badly sung Opera has no credibility! I listened to and watched the very pretty and shapely Desiree Rancatore hoot and strain her way vocally through the role of Gilda, she did all the gestures and facial expressions and presented a lovely stage scenario but I wished to God the kidnapping had taken place before she started singing Caro Nome. She was just that bad! That for me robs Opera of any credibility .Give me legitimate and virtuosic voices not pretty people who can't sing! If they have looks and voice great but looks and no voice NEVER!
