A great soprano, one of the best certainly! Amazing as Elsa in Lohengrin, in Don Carlo and in Andrea Chenier where I saw her life in Munich with Jonas Kaufmann. The duet “Ora soave…” was angelic, like comming from another world. I never heard anything like that.
I love her effort of those vocal leaps... She's obviously not a veteran here yet... But the quality is there and more than a decade later, she has a Voice every singer wants! I'm still a Netrebko Fan & always will be... :-)
Knowing Harteros was ill at the Cardiff Competitioin, she sung fabulous that night! (Can see her eyes filling with tears when she was finished.) She won, so. I was and still am surprised with Harteros. She sung everything! But what became her signature role...? Not Violetta. Alcina perhaps? Or in Wagner..Elsa?
Love her voice. Just needed some coachings for interpretation and style with nothing more than Renata Scotto. She is a master in that and a fabulous coach, Anyway, a beautiful voice and very good job. Brava!
@lamusicahera: You don't give up, do you? Unfortunate! I would not give in your place, talk of running away conductors because of Anja Harteros so much faith. Were you present? Well, then!
Well, clearly I am referring to this performance. Of others I could possibly have no impression, but her gray performance is not harbinger of great things. Nevertheless, I'd be glad if that were the case.
Pointless, indeed. Whatever Callas was, she isn't anymore. Also, Verdi, being long dead, isn't "calling the shots" anymore. So what useful information are we to gather from your comment? How will it help us making any decision we may face today, tomorrow, or next year?
Belle artiste mais manquant singulièrement de brio ici. La justesse est plus d'une fois relative. Son art est ailleurs (d'autres Verdi, Puccini et Strauss surtout).
That is depressing to know. Violetta is in a state of torment for a new feeling, which she has never felt before-love. And she is battling it, as she is trying to shed any feeling for another man: it would spell disaster for her as a courtesan. Ms. Harteros portrays not a shred of the psychological turmoil the character is undergoing; she makes the scene into a purely vocal exploit-and not a good one-square, and bland. This is as far from Verdi's dramatic coloratura as one can get.
I love her vocal tone and she has a great voice, but she always seems to hold back too much and the coloratura seemed a bit daunting for her. The high E-flat is optional, but when singers drop it or do not possess it, it takes away from the aria IMO.

One of the greatest Sopranos ..love her xx
Awesome!!! She really deserved the title of cardiff singer of the world.
A touching actress, a fine stage presence and a beautiful voice !
Lovely voice and fine presence on stage. Brava
It was good enough to get her Cardiff singer of the world.
Siamo lontani anni luce dall essere una Violetta accettabile . E quel timbro da comprimaria non l aiuta di certo
Beautiful voice. Brava!
C'è da piangere.
very very lovely.... BRAVA
Brava Ms Harteros and especially that you did not kill your performance by attempting an Eb at the end, but sang it as written. Bravissima!
The E flat is necessary

Wow. Some notes are very off tune. But she sings so beautifully! I'm so excited for her Othello and Don Carlos!:)
bravAAAAAAAAAA.
wow.. how old is she here
According to the description the setting is 1999 (Cardiff). If that is correct she would have been about 27 years old.
+Björling Singt thank you)

Brava , ma manca l'acuto finale .
Verdi said he wanted "una donna di tutta forza" for this role. Callas was.
What a pointless comment.

Shut up. Anja Harteros is great

No worries. It is after all a concert. I'm sure she's all there in a performance.
voce e tecnica poco adatte à questo repertorio.

Das geht wesentlich besser.
Disastrous, both vocally and scenically.
