Love your videos no faf you get what you put in approach Iv actually learned alot from your videos and I struggle to learn because I have diagnosed adhd thank you so much. I'm three years in and growing ever confident because of videos like these 😊
Awesome 🤩 glad you get value from my videos / I enjoy making them and my hope is that it helps people gain knowledge and confidence so it’s made my day to know it’s helped you x
Useful information, as usual. Thanks for that. Maris Piper is my fav. I cheat a bit. Dig my trenches end of Jan, and pack straw in. Keeps the soil warm. Plant mid-March and cover with nitrogen rich compost topped with the rest of the straw. Earth up as it gets warmer. They harvest a bit earlier, with a good crop. Chicks are doing well. Insulated coop and plenty of rice shoots.
Thank you 🙏 really appreciate you commenting/ I thought as much / how interesting that this isn’t widely known and for people that don’t want to earth up it’s so good to know as otherwise we are doing work that isn’t necessary
Don’t apologise that’s how I’ve learnt asking lots of questions/ earthing up is as @jop8833 says building up the soil around the plants as they grow to promote more potatoes 🥔 and stop them going green / you only earth up a couple of times just so the plants have room to grow their potatoes/ if you keep watching you’ll see how I do mine
If they are really long some say to break them off / if they aren’t that bad personally I would plant them as they are and hope for the best / you can always source some more as back up so you’ve got more planted just in case these fail / they are pretty resilient/ you know for next year / if you look back through my videos I give tips on how to successfully chit so you know for next year
I grow Charlotte and just harvest as needed. They crop well and are good for everything with a lovely flavour. Later in the year they get huge and are still good.

Could you explain what 'earth up' is? New to gardening, love your channel! Edit: Sorry to be thick lol Is it just the digging of the trench?
Charlotte potatoes are determinate as second earlies. I enjoy watching your channel, very informative.
Earthing up is building soil up around your plants to avoid any potatoes growing near the surface getting sun damage 😊
