United Kingdom
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 2 มิ.ย. 2018
We have created this UK gardening TH-cam channel to share what we do to live what we call the good life.
We are passionate about growing your own food. We have an allotment as well as a back garden. We keep chickens as well as grow a variety of vegetables and enjoy enjoy eating seasonal fruit and vegetables.
We will be sharing some of our favourite recipes on here. We like to demonstrate that eating well doesn't have to be complicated, difficult expensive. We enjoy eating a variety of good food and treats. We believe that if more people did this then we could together reduce food waste and plastics.
Please join us and subscribe to our channel. You can help us if you suggest new video topics and share our videos. If we can all live a little more sustainably and encourage a few others to do the same, together we will make a difference.

We decided to get an allotment in Bath for the first time ever and happened to have this horrid weather. It is, however, doing extremely well and we harvested a lot so I can't wait to see how it does in a normal year! Thanks for the video very interesting
Glad it’s going well / every year is different and every year it’s worth it 🌱 it’s easy to get disheartened at times but if you hang in there it always pays off
Thankyou for the heads up about lunch box cucumber, i have put them on my shopping list for next year! Lovely to see your joy at pottering round the plot, you are like a kid in a sweetie shop😊😂
Thank you 🙏 yes I do love the allotment and I love vegetables 🥦 and fruit 🍎 in general whether it’s in the ground; cooking or even in a shop
Just had a nosy on your page just got my pullets last week talked to lots of farmers and vets family got permission in 2022 as always happy gardening Richardx
Awesome 🤩 good luck with them 🐓
What a great Presenter your are
Thank you 🙏 that’s very kind of you to say so : I do try to make it informative, fun 🤩 and interesting 🧐
Realy great video your plots are looking great have you noticed a lack of everything this year? Also great camera work good to see someone who knows what they're doing
Thank you 🙏 I have to give my husband credit for the camera 🎥 work / we use a go pro / my raspberries aren’t as good but I think that’s just mine and my tomatoes 🍅 are definitely a bit behind / I’m sure the tomatoes will catch up though / some things have actually done better / best strawberries I’ve ever had and my potatoes are much earlier which I think is down to the rain 🌧️/ the brocollis are also much better than last year as it was so dry / beetroot seems a bit behind but again I’m sure it will catch up
You and Jessie at Plot 37 are definitely the most informative garden/allotment channels. Thank you
Thank you and so kind of you to say so 😀 you’ve made my day / have a lovely weekend 🌱
Did you do nude May gardening day?
🧑🌾😍🌱
Thank you 🙏 for watching 🌱
Thanks for the information about the lunchbox size cucumbers.
You’re welcome 🥒 it has certainly been a game changer for me
I’m jealous mine are terrible this year!
Still time for them to pick up / mine have only just started to produce heavily
Thank you 😇❤️
You’re welcome 😉 glad you enjoyed it 🌱
That's where I'm going wrong! I don't actually eat them myself, but I do grow them. The family enjoy them, so I don't mind. My grandfather used to put them in a draw in the garage with a ripened tomatoe or in a paper bag. But this seems the better option for me. I learn so much from your channel. ❤
You’re welcome glad it’s helped 🍅
I find your videos very informative, thanks.
You’re welcome and thank you for watching 🌱
Great video, really useful to know
You’re welcome and thank you for watching 🌱
You can actually smell Potato Blight as you enter a Garden
Thank you for watching and for your comment / useful to know 🌱
My plant has no aubergines. I bought the plant from a garden centre in April, I feed it weekly and I water it regularly.
Mine are slower this year / I’ve got buds but no aubergines 🍆 yet / hopefully they will pick up / the weather has definitely been a challenge this year
As always, useful information. Thank you.
You’re welcome
Very helpful. Thank you.
You’re welcome ☺️
What ? Can’t understand what your saying sorry
Here’s the full video as it may have cut off What To Sow In July - Allotment Gardening For Beginners UK th-cam.com/video/SYZUWCK__dg/w-d-xo.html
Nice
Thank you 🙏

I live in the UK, I wanted to start this but Im not sure about the noise they can create that may disturb the neighbor?? I got like a 10ft x 5ft front garden then a neighbor wall or fence.
Hens are much quieter / It’s cockerels that make more noise / my neighbours have never minded and quite liked the sounds and eggs 🥚/ you could always ask them although I never did and it was fine
Sow / sowing
🌱 🪴 thank you 🙏 for watching
i use washing up liquid, a very small amount in a spray bottle of water and spray it on to the aphids, works very well.
Thank you 🙏
I really enjoy weeding, I find it very therapeutic, my problem is I’m very untidy and leave things lying around everywhere, got a rake in the face when I stood on it! I’m trying to be tidier but it doesn’t come naturally at all x
I agree it is therapeutic and very rewarding once done and yes I often leave things lying around and then can’t find them / I try not to but we’re often so engrossed in what we are doing it’s easily done 🌱
It is looking nice and warm and sunny down there in Kent, as I watch this I have woolly socks on and a big cardi and it is absolutely pouring outside, British weather is so changeable!🤭😢
Yes weather 🌧️ ☀️ is definitely very changeable as tipped it down yesterday and quite windy 🌬️ and showers today
I like your fast pace style of vidoes, first time watciing you and have subcribed to your channel.
Thank you 🌱
Hello. May I ask what is on top of the canes in the two round metal containers on your allotment?
Empty plastic drinks bottles / I save them as they are useful to put on the top of canes for net support and so you don’t accidentally poke yourself
P.S 10,000 followers is just around the corner and will be well deserved!
Thank you 🙏
Excellent tips in this video. I am quite the seasoned veg grower but these tips keep me on my toes and are healthy reminders to keep on top of things. Thanks again for a great update.
Thank you 🙏 glad you found it useful
Thank you
You’re welcome ☺️ 🌱
Can I ask what happened with your garlic? Have I missed it being picked? Did the supermarket cloves grow as well as the store bought ones? I am intrigued to find out.
Actually couldn’t find much difference but if I’m honest it wasn’t my best crop / I do refer to it in my latest video 🌱 🪴 😊 Top 10 Allotment Jobs For July - Allotment Gardening For Beginners UK th-cam.com/video/aMpo7fWOQqw/w-d-xo.html
yes , vermiculite lets more light through..
It’s great stuff
Organic methods Make a sticky trap Exploit the beetles' habit of jumping by catching them with a sticky trap. Coat a piece of card with grease, such as insect barrier glue, leaving a clean strip.
Thank you for tip
Apply Neem oil, which is organic. Apply any of the other commonly sold pesticides that are labeled as being effective against flea beetles. For example, pyrethrum-based and spinosad-based pesticides
Thank you 🙏
Thank you 😇👍
You’re welcome ☺️ 🌱
Such a clear and friendly blog. You made making the champagne so much clearer. Have subscribed for more!
Awesome 🤩 glad it helped 🥂 enjoy 😉
Very helpful video; thank you.👌🌱
You’re welcome 😉 glad you found it helpful 🌱
As always useful information. Thanks very much.
You’re welcome ☺️
Just sown dwarf borlotti, carrots and radishes and now wondering what to put in the space created when I harvest the potatoes…😊
Borlotti beans 🫘 are lovely
@@ThatsWhatWeCallTheGoodLife I know and so tasty in stews!
Like that you describe what you can do with the vegetables 😊
Thank you 🙏 and that’s one of the best things about growing vegetables 🥗 and becoming more creative with my produce
Thank you for all your hints and tips, with broad beans, once picked do they grow again like runner beans or is it the case of once you harvest the beans the plant is finished?
Once harvested they’ve finished unless there’s more bloom left to develop
I multi sow beetroot and radish in modules, then transplant each module together. I’ve found this very effective as I pick the largest ones by twisting out leaving the others to grow on. This gives me a succession of plants with only one sowing, the bulbs push each other apart as they grow. X
Awesome tip 🌱 thank you
Just sown dwarf kale, kalettes, pak choi and radish. Will be putting chantenay carrots in next week.
Awesome 🌱 I’ll look forward to hearing how they grow / I grew kalettes a few years ago and they were delicious 😋
nice tutorial ,just got my first allotment so the july tips are great..subscribed...
Thank you 🙏 and good luck with your plot 🌱 I do weekly videos which come out each Friday I hope help and inspires you
@@ThatsWhatWeCallTheGoodLife thank you ,and i will watch out for your friday vidio..
You are a Super presenter
Thank you 🙏 very kind of you to say so 🌱
❤❤❤the strawberries 🍓 are doing well. Iv never grow artichokes yours are fruiting well and giant I would probably plant one day
Thank you 🙏 best strawberries 🍓 I’ve had for years
My 4 year old grandson Noah has taken my first 3 strawberries today 😆 🍓 now he knows he can have them when they're red I've got no chance 😆😆😆 this video is great for me it's my first year growing produce so thank you 🫛🍓🥬🍈🍎🍐🫐🍅
Awesome 🤩 so good to hear your grandson Noah is taking an interest even if he is taking a liking to your strawberries 🍓 my son knew a lot about fruit and vegetables 🥦 from a young age which can only do them good for appreciating good food later in life / good luck with your plot 🌱
Thank you :)
You're welcome! 😃
Great video as always great tips, strawberries can be picked when blushing and nit fully ripe, leave them in a cool place in the dark for a day and they are ripe too
Thank you for watching and for the tip 🍓
