Today is 07/05/24 Absolutely horrible experience with our Fi collar last night. Our dog bolted because some idiot drove by and tossed a lit firework into our yard. It took us 3.5 hours to find him!!! The collar was extremely slow in locating him. It only gave us a location hit three times. And because of how slow it was updating, once we reached the point where he was supposed to be at he was already long gone. The few times that it did locate him it would loose him again quickly. In the end yes, it did work. But, it was extremely frustrating because of how slow it was. At one point it told us that he was “away from owner for 53 minutes”. Yep, we know that…… now do your job and lock on to him instead of just clocking while trying to locate him. We live in a rural area but, in spite of that our cell service is still pretty good. So I don’t understand why the connection was so bad. I own true GPS devices that are extremely accurate and can track me in real time. That is what this collar should have done. Not impressed.
Respect for strapping the collar on yourself and checking for stray shocks. Not looking for an invisible fence, but the commitment is admirable (and very entertaining).
I’ve purchased the FI and it’s not very durable. It broke the 1st year and good news, I did get a replacement for free but that replacement lasted only 6months. It worked great when she took off from my unfenced yard and I activated the lost dog mode and it was pretty accurate in pinpointing my on the move dog.
Thank you for this. I have Fi and am considering switching due to frequent offline errors recently. I'm not sure what's going on with the company but am doing my research to see if there's anything else out there at that price point and functioning. I guess I need to save up or continue searching. Video very helpful!
I’ve purchased 5 Fi collars in total. They have tons of issues. I’ve had my dog on lost mode for over 6 hrs without a single hit. Their customer service is non existent. The only thing they did promptly was cancel my subscription when I requested them to after my current subscription expired. They canceled me immediately and have yet to get back to me on the prorated refund they owe me. Do not get Fi!
Looking for a basic GPS tracking collar. Not E-collar, corrections, or virtual fences. Could you recommend a tracker, so I can see where my dog is on my phone? Also, have you ever reviewed the "Tractive" gps tracker that I keep seeing?

So my problem is: I already have an invisible fence, but occasionally my dog feels his freedom to go further into my property outweighs the shock of the collar. I'd like to be able to find him should he go venturing into the woods. Would Fi be best option? I can 't afford the Spoton for almost $1l.
Fi is decent, but the series 2 was prone to failure. 1 i had lasted 8 months or so. The 2nd one lasted hardly 6 months. The third lasted about 4 to 6 months. Very unimpressed with the durability. Maybe the series 3 im replacing it with will do it. But this is their last chance. Im willing to try because they did replace the other collor for free 2 times. As far as other brands. Ive tried tractive and it seems to be worse. Collor is holding up fine. But it wont sync with the app or website.
@@coolbreeze7132 Fences should be able to work wherever they are set up, as they are GPS and the collar has a GPS antenna. Communication between the collar and the phone (i.e. location tracking, alerts, etc.) should work anywhere there is cellular signal.

I thank you for your feedback. It helped me avoid that fi collar

Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching!
That human real life test there deserves 1M subs! Great review and comparison. Thanks.
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it!

Good boy. 🤣

Awesome, thank you for the review. We've always been looking at this FI series 3. Just ordered one now with your coupon code!
So glad you enjoyed!

Of what we’ve tested Fi would be the best fit. We have not tried the Tractive yet.
the only reason I’m watching is because I just saw you get shocked in the neck wearing a dog collar 😂
😆

This is a VERY useful video and I'm very impressed with your guts to wear the collar and know what the dog feels.
Warm regards

Fi would indeed work for tracking should he run off. There are some other smaller devices out there that only do that as well.

How far do they reach on gps?
I’m not sure I understand your question. Do you mean how far can the collar be from your phone?
@@ThePamperedPup yes

What about battery life
Fi has the longest by far, up to 3 months.
are they gps or cellular?
Both. They use GPS for location.
what about tractivity?
Hmm do you mean tractive? We haven’t tried it yet, but I’ll make note!
Fi it is thank you
I love how your crawling like a dog instead of walking like a human 😂
