An additional note. Radahn does not shoot you with arrows. He shoots you with the spears of Malenia's Cleanrot Knights that are embedded in him. Truly a badass.

This would also imply that his mastery over gravity magic is absolutely absurd l given that he is capable of firing hundreds of spears into the sky and have them track you as they fall.

Absolutely. I believe they are the most heroic characters in the entire game. And it also reinforces my view of Radahn as a true hero too - a leader hast to be truly great to inspire such heroism in his knights and soldiers.

Some people say Radahn consented to the vow. I call bullshite. Most stuff in the game said Radahn was good and honorable. But the idea that he would sanction Caelid getting virus bombed sounds hella contradictory.
"But Radahn's men want him to die so he can fulfill his vow to Miquella."
No, they wanted him dead because he's an insane, virus ridden, feet missing, sky-howling, corpse-eating hobo. Farthest thing from their demi-god general. There's still chad-Leonard, but he's not lasting, sad as it sounds

Before people made the connection with the horse,nobody gave a shit about Radahn. No,he is not the main character,he is just as greedy for power as every other demigod (exept Malenia and Miquella,they more like struggle to survive,cure the scarlet rot and raise the Haligtree). he sieged Leyndell and failed doing so. And some might say its good that he stopped the stars,but Ranni's destiny is halted by this act,so is it definetly a good thing? Im not sure. Its arguable that Ranni's ending is good or not,but just like that its not just simply good that he stopped the stars. Not counting this,i have no clue why people think he was a good guy. Mostly people think he is a good guy because he loves his horse and basically thats it. Animals are cute,horse is cute,so Radahn must be a good guy.

I don't know if Radahn lost his feet by dragging them... but I've heard it was actually the Scarlet Rot. It would seem the rot eats limbs first, which is why Malenia has prosthetics on both legs and her arm (and Millicent lacks an arm).
Why does he still have arms then if that’s the case, not being a knob genuinely asking, because the rot has gotten to his mind yet skipped his arms? So if it does limbs first why would it go to both his feet then head, skipping arms

Because since Radahn loves his house he absolutely skips leg day, however the scarlet rot has no idea how to eat those two guns on his shoulders.
The Fire Giant had scarlet rot on just one ankle that was slowly spreading to his other one soon.
Since he's gone mad with Scarlett rot I thing he meant to cut it off or it's must've given him and just like you said how malenia had prosthetic feet it's must've been that or your theory
One of the biggest bad ass factors of Radahn is that aside from letting Malenia put her arm back on, she was forced to use the power of an outer god just for it to be a draw. A draw that had her people carry her off the battlefield while he still stood and did all that star holding. On top of that he could have easily used his own powers to drop the stars on her if he chose and nuked the battlefield the same way she did, but he didn't. He was fighting with so many handicaps only for the woman who never knew defeat to only draw after relying on another god to win through non-combat ways.
Uh...no. Radahn is shown on his knees and disarmed before Rot even comes in. As the game says explicitly, it was a Stalemate BEFORE Rot came into play.

Also she was fighting Radahn with prosthetics replacing her right arm and both legs. Oh, and she's *blind*. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Radahn's a scrub, just that Malenia was fighting with significant handicaps. That said, Ranni and Miquella are the ones I find most interesting (also Melina).
He really is the most interesting most badass character of Elden Ring....if he used everything at his disposal, he would have surely beaten Malenia

Rad "The Chad" Dahn:
- Wields two massive greatswords
- Fought Malenia 1v1 (and almost won)
- Holds back the entirety of all stars in the universe even while his mind is rotted from super cancer
- Studied gravity magic and flipped off the laws of gravity just so he could ride his childhood horse
- Has an entire festival dedicated to his achievements and to send him off with a good merciful death
Radahn definitely won the 1v1 with Malenia considering a dude carried Malenia away from the fight.

Radahn definitely won the fight. He was holding the stars and himself while fighting Malenia, and he let Malenia put her prosthetic arm back on before they continued fighting. Malenia literally stabbed herself just to do her ultimate move, which didn’t even kill Radhan. Malenia’s own move basically killed herself until some loyal soldier carried her all the way back to her home or whatever her arena is supposed to be. Also, I heard some people say that Malenia had an entire army with her too. I think it’s safe to say that Radhan is technically more powerful than Melenia.

He was the most powerful demigod, and we only fought him severely weakened, imagine fighting him at full power.
Edit: just beat his ass in the DLC, no summons no problem + claymore on top.

He had been completely consumed with scarlet rot while also holding up the stars and still has the strength to fight some of the strongest champions in the lands between.
We fought and killed the elden beast.
If we fought him at full power, we might break a sweat but we'd win.
@@edenarchive4150 Is the Elden Beast stronger though? Now hear me out. I know its somewhat of a God but being a God doesnt directly Translate into Combat Power. Just look at Godfrey/Hoarah Loux. They had a need for a Warrior Elden Lord to do their Fighting, and after all the Fighting had been Done, he was robbed of his Grace and sent away. Why did they need Godfrey to do their fighting when they had Radagon who is Marika and therefore a God? My guess is that being a God just means you have Influence over Certain Things, but it doesnt make you Stronger than Other Beings (necessarily)

Yes, the playable character does defeat the Elden beast, but at the same time, that proves that perceived lesser beings can defeat it. If you ask the characters in the mythos, do you think this tarnished warrior could beat the Elden beast, I’m willing to bet you’d be met with a resounding no. Most round table members seem to think they could kick your ass. Now they’re not right, but it goes to show that the scaling within the universe/ranking isn’t set in stone. Going off feats, it’s not beyond comprehension that Radhan could win.

I feel like Radahn is having an internal struggle, between the Golden Order and the Carian royal family. What if he couldn’t choose which side he favored? Couldn’t choose between his parents. By commanding the stars he essentially halted the story from progressing, allowing no side to advance over the former and making himself the roadblock to conflict.
That makes the most sense to me. He was fighting for Caria during the shattering. You would assume that means he would side with his sister Ranni, but even then he’s preventing her plans by holding back the stars.
Thats a lot better, it wouldn’t make sense for him to be completely against the other half of his family, just unsure
I disagree. Radahn is a godfrey fanboy through and through, and also expresses pride in his father radagon by sporting the red mane. He's also a sorcerer, and a very powerful one, but he uses no carian sorceries whatsoever, in fact he was taught gravity sorcery in sellia by an alabaster lord, which is weird since he had the much better option of the most prestigious magic academy in the lands between.
We know that radahn arrested the movement of the stars, thus sealing the fate of the carian family. We know that the carian royals were aware of the fate of the stars, and radahn was one of them. The telescope description states that "The fate once writ in the night skies had been fettered by the Golden Order". With these 3 pieces of information combined, we can safely say that radahn stopped the stars knowing that it would halt the carians' fate on the behalf of the golden order.
There's also the fact that stopping the natural cycle of the stars and/or the fate they prescribe has no real adverse effect on the golden order or the greater will.
Kudos to you Justin. This is a really refreshing way to look at it. He’s like the child in the middle of a divorce who doesn’t want to hurt either parent. So he waits for someone to come and make that choice for him by killing him and making the decision as Elden Lord.
@playmsbk - His fanboy for Godfrey is like having a favored Uncle whom he idolizes. That doesn’t necessarily indicate Radahn choosing a side, only shows his adoration for Godfrey as a warrior, not necessarily adoration as to the side Godfrey is on.
One can have respect and adoration for someone who could be considered an enemy or has a polarizing viewpoint.
Like how he treated Melenia, let her get herself put together before kicking her ass. A sign of respect for the art of battle.

@Beast the Grim executioner idk but it seem he get infected from his right shoulder where melenia stabbed him and blow a flower there, so it seem like it was being dragged + sitting on horseback for so long were the reasons for the footing issue
Radahn is the only Demigod whose divine tower is an actual dungeon with a boss at the end as well.
The platforming sections of the tower and the times you die from falls is also to remind you of gravity, which is also the form of magic he learnt so he can keep riding his horse Leonard
Oh man I had so much trouble with that godskin noble I was like are you serious this is more difficult than most of the main bosses I've fought so far.
He's also the only boss whose "Legacy Dungeon" is an empty area with 5 locked doors that only open after you beat him (that lead to nothing) and 4 enemies. Pretty lame.

Godskin enemies are extremely susceptible to Sleep.
Chuck a few sleep pots at them, and they'll literally take a nap for as long as you don't hit them.

Radahn is clearly one of the best bois. Even after being severely weakened he can still hold back the stars and use his magic to stay with his best friend. He’s also an honorable warrior (letting Malenia put her arm/weapon back on while just standing there menacingly). He was clearly an amazing general too because his warriors still feel the need to honor him and give him a warriors death so long after he lost himself

@@lucjeb9254 Yeah quite true. I realised that the reason why not all bosses live up to their name is because in FromSoftware games the bosses are usually a shade of their former self. Like Radahn is infested with scarlet rot which has turned him into a beast and no longer is the great champion he once was.
Let's think for a moment, Ranni needs us to kill Radahn to release the stars. Ranni is one of the strongest magic users ever and couldn't break Radahn's hold on the sky, even when he had been afflicted with scarlet rot
She doesn’t use gravitational magic is the thing. Radahn holds back the stars using a kind of magic she isn’t familiar with and therefore couldn’t do much about like just start them moving again. And she was in a doll and not a real body.
Ranni is weak and that is why I will stand alone atop of the lands of between as elden lord. Without ranni
you could technically skip radahn to do ranni's quest. If you go through Nokstella.

Just go full anime and when you wear his armor set he literally becomes an aura around you when you fight massive enemies. Increasing your health and giving a buff to greatswords, dual wielding, and gravity magic.

All I want is an expansion like The Old Hunters or Artorias of the Abyss, which takes us back to the past before the shattering or during the events of the shattering. Where we can fight along some demigods like Radahn and Malenia
Radahn, Godwyn, malenia, miquella two of them we fight in a weakened state and two we never fight If that isn't potential for dlc I don't know what is and don't forget we never find miquella's great rune in the game meaning he's still alive in that cocoon egg thing that mohg stole.

This man learned Gravity Magic to: A) Keep other outer space bug monsters from his home. B) Make sure his sister's plan can't progress because it get her killed. and most importantly C) To Keep Riding his Favorite Horse.
and while keeping the star in the sky on Pause this guy SOLO'D Malenia, Blade of Miquella, to the point she had to Poison Nuke the whole battlefield, and it even than it was more of a draw.
I'd sign up to join this guy's army, I just wish we could meet him when his brain was still intact. He sounds like a best boy.
This man was hit by a point-blank nuke that had the side effect of rotting away at his brain after letting Malenia reset her prosthetic arm, all while fighting on a scrawny horse that he learned gravity magic to keep riding, all while HOLDING THE STARS IN PLACE WITH GRAVITY MAGIC.
This man fought Malenia to a draw all while having like fifteen self-imposed handicaps.

Man whenever I see a fanart of Melenia, I just can’t forget what she did to my boy Radahn. I agree with Dark Tark when he said Radahn in his prime will go fishing with you then after catching a fish return the fish back to the water because he wouldn’t want to cause trouble to the ecosystem.
I agree with morgott when he said that all of Queen Marika's offspring are traitors, would would spill the blood of their own kin over the elden ring. That includes Radhan.

Radahn was probably unconscious or dazed from the blast. When you get nuked and lose your mind you don’t necessarily take action right away.
Radahn kinda reminds me of Artorias, an honorable, valiant warrior who's lost his mind and who we battle in a weakened state despite the fight still being very challenging, and that's why these two are a few of my favorite characters in these games!

Maybe immediately after he was infected, it might have worked. The needle doesn't cure it just stops the spread and side effects and by the time you find him there isn't anything really left to save.

The needle wards off the influence of other beings, the outer gods.
The rot isn't sourced from Melania, the rot had infected her at birth and afflicts her too. The rot is actually from another god.
So, the needle could actually free his mind considering the rot is an influence from a god and he still has SOME semblance of nobility.
After giving it to him, you can then fight him in his strongest state

I don't think Radahn was actually all that fond of The Golden Order, per se. He wars armor inspired by Godfrey, the warrior that preceded The Golden Order, and the First Tarnished, aka the first banished from The Golden Order.
The Greater Will had a lengthy history of using the stars to punish The Lands Between, so although stopping the stars arrested the destiny of the Carian Royal Family, it may have also been a means of fighting to a stalemate, as he had family on both sides of the war. Hence his dual wielded swords.
When Melania bloomed and unleashed the Scarlet Rot across Caelid, (some of?) Radahn's troops burnt their crestsoff their armor, as they wouldn't be returning home, but would instead remain to fight the Scarlet Rot.
Additional context, I figure Morgott wouldn't regard him as a traitor if he'd been so allegiant.
It was my understanding that Radahn took one of the great runes which is why caused him to grow so large. Which is why Morgott calls him a "traitor". Godfrey was originally Horah Loux the barbarian warrior. Once Marika made him her consort he was granted the title of Elden Lord and had to behave as such. So he put a lion on his back to keep his list for blood in check and this, created Godfrey. Waging war on the giants, dragons, stormveil and caria. Bringing in the age of the Erdtree and the Golden Order. Marika then banished Godfrey and had Radahn with Radagon

I dont think it caused the Growth because didnt Radahn get it after the shattering when they started to Fight for them? Aka when he Was already big? Im not 100% this Lore is way to wage from what we get in game overall which can be really frustrating.
Correction about Ranni's endgame -
She wants to get rid of the influence of outgods and allow the residents of the Lands Between to control their own fates and destinies without some outside meddling from beings like the Great Will, the Formless Mother, the Flame of Frenzy, etc. The Great Will was likely to choose Ranni as Queen Marika's successor, and Ranni didn't want anything to do with becoming the next God over the Lands Between. So she decided to go against her fate and actively plot against the Greater Will, the Golden Order and so on.
Other than that, you pretty much got everything else spot on. Radahn loves his silly and loyal steed and wanted to protect the Lands Between from the horrors in the sky.
She literally shed her physical body and severed her connection with her two fingers just to go against the fate she was given. Unfortunately, Blaidd wasn't as lucky as Ranni and couldn't stop his fate like she did.

If he's allowed to escape from the Evergaol, you find him outside Ranni's tower...surrounded by the bodies of assassins like the one Ranni had you kill, muttering about his refusal to betray her. Ranni’s whole character is to have others do her work, (black knife numen assassins for Godwyn, Godskins for you and Iji once your usefulness is over, you for Radahn, wolf shadow and Astel, Rykard for Maliketh) the Golden Order wasn’t able to stop rot or deathbirds, why should her darkmoon (which is another outer God) order be able to do so? She’ll just peace out and leave all the problems (of which several caused by her) unresolved, so that someone else has to pick up her slack, maybe kill you too at some point, like when she tried with the Godskin at the tower.
Damn, at least Shabriri in all his evil actually helps you vs Godfrey. Her talks about freedom is also more smokescreen, the cuckoo knights are enslaved by the Carians and made to serve them against their own will, the entirety of the puppet business, alongside the creation of albinaurics as slave labour, is lost technology of the Nox, the Carians re-engineer to their wicked use.

You should have the option to use it on Radahn halfway through the fight instead of it being a reset button on a choice that you are warned like 3 times is irreversible and by that point you know chaos frame's point is world destruction.

I'd kill to get a 6 hour series akin to arcane done by the castlevania crew. There is so much to explore with radahn's backstory. He already fits into a very well working trope of growing up with people he'll have to grow away from due to having to wake up to his godhood responsibilities. He idolizes godfrey but only after he awakens to his godly powers will he have turmoil about who and what he wants to be. He could be a brawny young man but with an underlying gifted intellect. He wanted to stay with his human soldiers and his horse leonard, but he's born gifted as a demigod and will grow larger, stronger and much different to his loyal men. At first he'll feel like his abilities are cheating and dishonorable in sparring but as his size starts to grow he'll have a more difficult time handicapping himself to make it a fair match. There is brilliant character tension there. He would deny it at first and dip his toes in gravity magic only to keep leonard around, but will have to channel his gifted intellect to absolutely master gravity magic, say farewell to his men and ascend to challenge the stars. His victory could come with the caveat of the stars wearing him down slightly and he would try and hide it to shoulder the responsibility. I think there is just as much room for exploration with Malenia's backstory as she was the blade to miquella who abandoned all hope from the erdtree when they figured out it couldn't cure malenia's rot, so he grew his own haligtree in elphael and tried to create a safe haven for those born with handicaps, be it the albinaurics or the misbegotten, or his own sister malenia.

Ones that are comparable to Radahn I would have thought have to be somewhat virtuous, or at least repent for their misdeeds. So I'd agree on solaire (though he isn't even a mandatory fight), artorias (sif is just a dog. Only reason we care lore wise is just because of artorias), vendrick, Ivory king, Gael, nameless and Maria. Pretty much all the others are characters who caused the world to be as ruined as it was and not make moves to make amends (big eyes at you gwyn), characters you don't kill (Alsanna), or just a real doofus who, while I love, I don't respect (siegmier). Also never played Sekiro, so no comment on them.

Tbh I would’ve loved to hear more dialogue from Ranni about Radahn. Like, they’re direct siblings, so it would’ve been cool hear her perspective on any emotional conflict that was happening or had happened. With that being said, maybe even a little about about Rykard too.
FromSoft wrote a strong sibling bond with Malenia and Miquella, and it made me want to see exploration of the other demigod sibling relationships that goes deeper than just the fact they fought each other during The Shattering.

I have watched this video countless times because I consider this character to be one of the most noble warriors in Elden Ring. To me, his death was the most impactful when it comes to any of the boss fights. I love his devotion to his horse and how his soldiers are so loyal to him and his memorie that they try to keep the land from being consumed by scarlet rot. I hope that his story will not end with his death, but that maybe he will live on even in the past with some DLC content.

The abandoned cave has a bunch of destroyed Iron Maidens and we know those are exclusively tied to Rykard.
Rykard sent the Iron Maidens to help Radahn in his time of need so they definitely still had a great relationship by then
Welp, I now have a new head cannon. Ranni doesn't tell you to kill Radahn so the stars can move she really wants to allow him peace, and she knows you're the only one who is strong enough to bring him this peace. She just plays the tough guy (or tough girl, I guess?) and just says it's to allow the stars to keep moving bc she wants to keep up appearances. In reality, that's just a happy little coincidence for her, almost like a reward for doing one last kindness for her dear brother.

Ranni never had aspirations to reset everything, in fact see wants to leave the lands between for the sake of the people. Though I fully agree that radahns inspirations are critical to the lore.

Radahn is literally the only boss in the game, where canonically speaking, it takes more than just the Tarnished to finish him off, even in this crazed and reduced form. From Malenia, to Godfrey, Mohg, and the Lord of Blasphemy, we can all assume a hard fought duel, between a Shardbearer and the future Elden Lord taking place. But for The Mightiest Demigod of The Shattering, it takes a group consisting of the mightiest warriors and heroes, from the Lands Between and beyond, to match him in non-stop mass combat, in order to finally lay him to rest.
When i first fought Radahn i thought he was the final boss. Little did i know how big the game actually was but that just shows how impactful Radahns boss fight was. He is defenitely my favorite boss lore wise and battle wise

I'm pretty sure Radahn experienced some sort of terminal lucidity in his second phase, which allowed him to remember his more advanced spells and the glory of the fight, which makes this fight even more intense.

I feel like the purpose of this fight wasn’t just because Radahn wanted an honorable death, but also because he knew that if someone was strong enough to best him, he would be able to also fight off whatever the stars bring (aka natural voidborn and falling star beasts). This is at least how I justify my actions after totally doing it for the blue doll XD

The only issue I have with this, is that Ranni doesn't actually want to really destroy the golden order. She wants to put it away from the lands between so it can't be tampered with like the shattering.
I think that's bullshit. She has every motive to be an enemy of the Golden Order which ruined her family and led to deep betrayal that her mother suffered. Ranni is the Carian Princess Regent, so defacto boss of the most powerful group left that could organize against the Greater Will, and she kickstarted the events that led to the Tarnished being recalled to the Lands Between. She has the most to gain both as revenge and the means to rewrite the established order.

She doesn't want to plunge the world into chaos and destroy every living thing or make them despair. She wants to completely remove the ability for anyone to tamper with the order of existence, like how it was during the original Age of the Stars. Before the Golden Order came to the lands between.
It’s more she wants to move the Lands Between cosmologically so that outer gods can’t interfere with LB anymore. It’s the closest you get to giving everyone free will.

I don't remember what it was but my understanding of the lore changed drastically once I saw the description of an item I didn't know existed lol. And it's not like 1 person can feasibly gather all the lore in this game. Even Vati has 3 or 4 people besides him helping to gather the descriptions and stuff. I did it yesterday in ng+ and was an incredible fight. I even still wear his knights armor to honor him. It has become my favorite armor just for the description. That level of duty and resolution makes me cry

I actually did 1v1 him before he got nerfed. Granted, I was level 70, but I figured that I should be at my best to give him a challenge(I had no clue about farm spots back then, lol). Full Tree Sentinel armor and +13 Spiked Caestus was all I had to fight him. Died a few times, but in the end, I won.

For the "an age ago" thing, I think these events didn't happened long before our character showed up, a few years at most.
Thops tells us that the academy closed their doors when the shattering happened, and he got stuck outside. The thing is that Thops is not old, is pretty clean (body and clothes), so he didn't spend much time outside of the academy.
So the shattering and everything that went with it happened only a bit before we came in.

It's insane that malenia, a fellow demigod, had to use a scarlet rot nuke that incapacitated her **until we meet her in game** and even then he didn't flat out die.
One can argue malenia won long term but damn the general was just a different breed.
Thing is the Virus Bomb didn't KO Radahn too. Malenia was in a coma on the floor and Radahn was alive and pissed. She got lucky cause a servant of her swiped her away.

Lore wise weakened Radahn takes around 8 tarnished to kill, Malenia after her Bloom powerup takes 1. She didn't win that fight, she got away with her life, she didn't even do that Finlay did it for her, and as if that wasn't bad enough her own nuke knocked her out but didn't knock out Radahn as in the teaser trailer you can see Finlay stab Radahn, Likely in the act of retrieving Malenias knocked out body

I'm pretty sure those mushroom looking structures all around caelid are rotting dragon bodies? I'm no positive but I've seen a lot of partially decomposed dragon bodies, and to further support the theory, the huge dragon people exploit for runes is covered in these mushrooms, as it appears his body is slowly rotting away

they take the shape of human skulls if you look from far enough. It's still not quite certain exactly what they are, as they don't match one to one with the standart visual definition of scarlet rot. It could certainly be a reaction that the organic creatures be it the foliage, the animals and the draconics have to scarlet rot.
Those might just be the species born from Scarlet Rot. SR is an outer god (or at least the effect of one), and It seems to have an order around death, decay, and rebirth. Maybe after the rot eats all the trees, new life forms that thrive in the rot will rise from the mush, like the pests did, and one of those species is the scarlet fungus thing that we see (it fits as well, seing as fungi play a major role in decay and recycling of biomass).
I think the giant human skulls are from the war with the Giants that took place. We know there are still giants around, and the stronger they are the bigger they get what with the Fire Giant. So I think the skeletons we see are probably of the most powerful Giants that lived back in the day who were as big as kingdoms and were most likely felled by the powerful warriors long ago and their bodies left as trophies so to speak.

I only know two things regarding Malenia vs Radahn
1) the outer God of Rot was defeated by a blind dex user with the help of a minor spirit imported right over Japanese folklore, that’s bad, that’s very bad on a powerscaling meter for the God
2) While the scarlet bloom has massive range, Radahn, even in a weakened state, is able to quickly jump and reach space, like he’s some kind of Kryptonian, while the scarlet bloom is a powerful gimmick, it is ultimately, just a gimmick that won’t work against someone that knows it, and if Radahn and Malenia were to fight again, there’s no way Malenia is winning this.
Morgott or Godwyn though, that’s a different story 🤫

It really sucks that they nerfed Rahdan so much. He’s the strongest guy out there but they made his health practically Zero compared to before. I honestly really liked that he was so tough to fight.
