    The sad part is that Goldfrey (the apparition before Morgott) may have been created by Morgott himself. Which means Morgott really wanted his father to be back, help him and maybe become the Elden Lord again (considering Morgott places his crown on the throne). Morgott just wanted his father back... and we kill him before they can meet again.
    But the saddest part about Morgott is that he was legitimately blessed. Omen curse is no curse. It's a blessing of the Crucible which was later seen as a curse due to Golden Order. He may as well have been the most holy of all Demigods, but he was punished for it by being left for a time in the sewers and he hated HIMSELF for it. That is until he was released, most likely by the time Giants were still a threat since Godfrey knew him and he was banished after he beat the Giants and other enemies of Erd Tree.
    In his remembrance (japanese version) it's said that he didn't need anyone else's love to love in return. He just loved. So there were people that did love him. One of them was Godfrey, but the other may have been Godwyn... who was killed at the Night of the Black Knives. He tried to be a protector, he created Sentry's Torches to protect his other siblings from Godwyn's fate and yet... they all betrayed him and destroyed everything he loved and even then when he shows up in the throne room and calls his siblings traitors he still seems to have some actual care for them after all of that (outside of Rykard who may have taken more public role in killing Godwyn as part of his deal with Ranni which could have been start of his Blasphemy).
    Morgott was a good person that was betrayed by almost everyone around him. By his family that started destroying their life and breaking their world, by the Erdtree which wouldn't accept him due to his "curse" and by Golden Order which indoctrinated him into hating what he was blessed with.
    Morgott is probably one of the saddest characters in the game, if not THE saddest. A bitter person who has nothing, but hatred for himself and his family and the only thing he cares about is the thing that made his life miserable in the first place. And the only people that loved him are either dead (Godwyn who given that he befriended Dragons most likely cared little about curse on Morgott) or he never got to meet again after longing to see them again (Godfrey). At the end when we fight him he is legitimately left with nothing, but the crumbling city and his duty which is built on lies of the Greater Will.
    Pray for Morgott The Omen King, The Grace-Given. The True King of Leyndell and only worthy successor of Godfrey. A true heir. The only Demigod left that is worthy of being called Golden. Morgott the Golden Omen.

    • @sirjazz1268
      @sirjazz1268 2 ปีที่แล้ว +279

      Another détail to prove that love... The CGI trailer "Story", where you could see Radahn and Malenia fight... That one scene where you see Morgott put a crown on the Elden throne... Godfey's crown.
      Canonically, he took control over lyndell when Marika was gone, but even then, all he ever did was to protect the city until his father returned.

    • @AzraelSoulHunter
      @AzraelSoulHunter 2 ปีที่แล้ว +172

      @@sirjazz1268 Exactly. Forgot to put that detail there. Really makes me sad for Morgott AND Godfrey. They never could meet each other again. And what's even sadder is that Godfrey still loved Marika when he came back which is evident by one cut dialogue from his fight talking about him wanting to old her again. And Marika most likely loved him as well considering she never stopped calling him her lord and maybe he was the reason she started rebelling in the first place. In other words... We fucked over a family reunion... Ranni as well considering she killed Godwyn. Golden Lineage is by far the most tragic family.

      I believe Morgott and Mohg were only able to escape the sewers due to the shattering,wich would mean they never met Godwyn before he was killed.Also,Morgott's disdain for Rykard is likely due to the fact that Rykard lead an incursion to Leyndell,Gideon mentions it as the greatest battle of the shattering,and vestiges of this battle can still be found in Altus Plateau,were you fight the Morgott mini bossfight,and in the way to mount Gelmir,were those frenzied Leyndell soldiers are fighting the iron virgins

    If you notice when Godfrey holds Morgott, his body kind of withers away. According to lore, before you set free Destined Death to the Lands Between, only a select number of "races" could be absorbed by the Erdtree (what was considered Death after Marika took Death away from the Lands). Omen and Misbegotten, for example, are usually rejected by the Erdtree. In this we can see that this wasn't the case anymore, and be it for the actions of the Tarnished or simply for the will of the Erdtree, Morgott's body was finally absorbed. It kind of looks like his body turns into a guidance of grace as well. At least it looks like some form of light is pointing from Godfrey to the Tarnished. Maybe Godfrey finally got his grace back when he realized that the Tarnished had killed one of his sons (well, a few of them), and that brought to Godfrey the light of grace, the will to fight, the flame of ambition, which he had lost when he was banished, and which Morgott wanted to extinguish from the player. It came back to his eyes for the last time in his life.

    Morgott reminds me of how some people choose to deal with their circumstances in life. Mohg chose to turn the rejection he was given over the course of his life into an undeniable rage and hatred. Which is a valid reaction. But Morgott instead chooses to still love his family even if he is also rejected. He took the high road, so to say. Rather than place blame on everyone else for their (unjustified) hatred for him and his kind, he simply takes it on the chin but does sadly internalize his own contempt for himself and what he is. I'm saying all of this from a more psychological standpoint.
    Morgott and Mohg are just two sides of the same coin.

The commenter pointed out that Serosh might suppressed Godfrey’s true emotions, but what if he reflects what Godfrey is truly feeling. That perhaps that roar is Godfrey’s true emotion, unbridled anguish, sorrow, and anger at his sons death.

    I love the way Morgott and Mohg diverged from the same circumstances. Morgott was honorable and loyal, all while despising himself for what he was born as. Most likely because his twin brother was "unknown" to the world, for all he knew, Mohg was a failure like he himself, certainly not a Lord or someone who was supposed to uphold the golden order. He doesnt have a Throne representing him, why would he, both of them were considered non existent. We dont know how the 2 of them escaped, if they escaped together or at different times or if they even knew of each others existence. Mohg wanted to create a Dynastie and was obsessed with Miquella while Morgott became the Ruler of Leyendel. He was unable to enter the Earth tree and slowly witnessed how the world around him was dying while the others "didnt even try" to restore the order. That being said, you do encounter Mohg in the sewers where he was supposed to be the entire time so he was indeed just a locked up Omen like all the others. Even Offnir only knows the shard bearer as "The Lord of Blood" not as Mohg though he knows that "The veiled King" is refering to Morgott. Perhaps Mohg escaped when everything was already going down south.

      Because Morgott represses his omen curse, and uses his sword to contain it, which is why the sword gets that that stuff around it, while Mohg fully embraces his curse. Morgott would also try to speak in a more dignified manner, because of shame, while Mohg wouldnt care.

    I don't see anyone else talking about it, so I will... I think it is to be note that we should know what the Author, might be thinking of, when he developed this stories, in his mind. Godwyn, is a Demigod beloved by most. He is the offspring of Marika and Godfrey. However, their next 2 children is cursed. Why? Marika's and Godfrey's offspring was not cursed. Unless... It wasn't Godfrey's child... It only began to curse, after Godfrey... I think, Marika had an affair with Godwyn... I said it before, that we should take what the author, George Martin would have thought while building this world and the story behind it. The lineage. So I believe, if Marika had an affair with Godwyn, her "favourite" child, that would explain the curse, as well as the "favourite" part. We could assume that just because Godwyn is Marika's favourite, it may not mean exactly what we previously thought, because Godwyn could also be her favourite, in a different way... I believe this is why Mohg and Morgott, was cursed. This is why it is called the "Mohgwyn Palace" and not "Mohg's Palace", perhaps. As the name just implies it so casually... GodWYN, MohgWYN.
    Malenia and Miquella, was also cursed but this is the child between Radagon and Marika. They are, perhaps, two of the same being, thus creating a different sort of curse. As a God, breeding amongst its kindred, cursed them. It might explain why Mohg and Morgott was cursed, due to Marika and Radagon perhaps, shares the same bloodline. As Marika is Radagon. Their blood might be the same or at least carry the essence of that "Godhood" powers that was somehow manifested into curses. As Godwyn was not cursed when Marika and Godfrey had theirs' and it would not make sense if suddenly the curse was there, without any explanation. There was also the banishment of Godfrey. There was no actual reason at all to banish Godfrey. Unless, Godfrey had caught up to the affairs of Marika... In shame, Marika or Godwyn since we do not know what happened, banished Godfrey.
    Another point to note is that Radagon's and Renala's offspring, Radahn, was not cursed. As Radagon, a god, did not make a union with another god or another god within his bloodline. Isn't that strange? Radahn was not born with a curse. Neither was Rykard. They both did not possess a curse. Although this curse is just speculation, it might hint to the affairs and reasons to why the evidence does not add up, unless you consider the fact that Marika wanted to hide these evidences. Ranni was also a child of Radagon and Marika, but many have already speculated that Ranni was not born of the union between Radagon and Marika, but was instead the Amber Egg that was given to Renala by Radagon. As Ranni was not born with a curse. The Great Rune was also within the Amber Egg and Ranni was said to possess a Great Rune. We know that Renala was no Demigod. She wasn't a god. Therefore, the god curse was not present amongst their children, as it was a union between a Mortal and a God.
    There was so much "family drama" yet there was no exact details. I believe it was kept hidden by Marika herself, to prevent the stories from being told outside of their homes. In an effort to hide their shame. I also believe that Ranni did not plan to murder Godwyn. I believe, Ranni was going to set the Assassins to murder Marika's Soul... Allow me to explain... Marika, despite their god, was feared by many. After so many people discover her self obsessive behavior and more, people began to fear her. To the point that they wanted her, gone. I believe Ranni intended to murder Marika's soul with the Rune of Death. Marika was the host or the soul, the vessel, of the Elden Ring. Marika had a terrifying plans for the Lands Between. However, Marika could not be killed by any normal means. She is a god. Unless, you can just kill a part of her. Her soul. If Marika, the soul of the body that holds the Elden Ring were to be killed, there would be no one to control the Elden Ring. There would be no one to control that great power. Marika would just be an empty husk. Just like the Prince of Death. Not to be mistaken by Godwyn. The Prince of Death was named after Godwyn has been murdered. I believe that night, they were suppose to kill Marika but instead could not find her in her bedchambers. They instead, found Godwyn...
    In an desperate attempt to kill a god, without missing the timing to kill two of the Demigods at the same time, they sacrificed Godwyn... Godwyn was beloved by many. There would be no reason to kill him. Unless, it was not by intention but rather a desperate act. The location of the assassination was not clarified, so I am speculating here but I do not believe Ranni had intended for the Shattering to happen. I believe that was not the goal during the Night of the Black Knives. The goal was to kill Marika as well as separating Ranni from her flesh. There, she would remove both of her obstacles at the same time. The Golden Order, no more and her flesh, discarded. I believe Ranni was fully expecting that the Black Knives Assassin would come back to her and kill the Finger that Ranni killed at the end of her questline. This also seems to back up her dialogue during the Cinematic Trailer, when she asks: "What would the Demigods hoped to win by warring?"
    I mean what reason does the Demigods have to fight? None. Logically, Godwyn was the one who was slain. Not Marika. So the powers of the Great Rune was still with Marika. Why would they go to war? Unless they thought that Marika was slain and the power to reach Godhood was in reach. So there is two possibilities. That Godwyn was the target or that he was not. Sure, he was slain but was that intentional, was the question? Even Ranni did not admit that she intended to kill Godwyn. Yes, she said and I quote: "I did it all." but what did the "all" mean in her dialogue? There was no reason to kill Godwyn other than just a victim. This is why I believe that Ranni intended to kill Marika. When you commit a Coup, you'd make sure to be standing at the top by the end of it. I believe this was the initial goal. However, when the shattering happen, Ranni did not stood on top. She had nothing after the Shattering.
    If Ranni killed Marika instead, she would kill her Soul. This would effectively destroy the Golden Order, which Ranni despises and was up against all along. The Elden Ring would still have a host, but no will to control it, as Marika's soul is dead. So I believe Godwyn was killed at a desperate hands of the Black Knives Assassins. Since if they did not kill a God's soul during that period, Ranni would have died a true death. The Assassins could do nothing but do the deed. This is why I believe why Marika was distraught after Godwyn was slain. I believe this is why Ranni was the state that she was after the shattering. This is why I believe the Demigods had to fight. Ranni was decrepit. She failed to topple the Golden Order, she has no way to kill the fingers, she cannot reveal her plans for the fear that they would ally themselves with Queen Marika. This is why she was at a Stalemate as well. Until, you came.
    As for who YOU are, is up to debate but I think there is an explanation to who we are but I won't be deep diving that. It is just speculation after all and I only have my gut feeling for it.

      I actually don't believe mogh is pure evil. They're just two different sides of the same coin. It is completely valid to hate the people who called you a curse and imprisoned you. And yes he did kidnap miquella but he handles him with care and even refers to him as "Dearest Miquella" I honestly think he was just using his blood magic to try and get him to grow. I think Rykard is more evil than Mohg. I don't think he's evil for his "blasphemous sin" because the golden order is definitely questionable but what he did after. On another note I believe a fully grown miquella was destined to be the strongest out of the demi gods and we will fight him in dlc someday.
