Such a wonderful reaction to a living rock legend and performance. I saw Eric Clapton in 1968 with Cream and he has provided a lifetime of music that is a treasure to me. Thank you again for a delightful reaction.
People can learn to play the notes on the guitar, and all of the chords, and they can study music theory to try to understand it. But that doesn't make you a magical guitarist. It makes you average, and there are millions of us. The magic is How you play it, and phrase the notes and chords that create the feeling the masters make you feel. Eric Clapton is at the top of my list, and IMO, this arrangement of a already great song is one of his masterpieces
Eric was on fire that night. I was there, as I was also present for the I Shot The Sheriff performance you reacted to previously. This particular night was a benefit for the Crossroads rehab centre in Antigua that Eric has been funding since 1998, and he had guests like Sheryl Crow, David Sanborn (sax), Mary J. Blige, and Bob Dylan, all of whom he played behind during their mini sets. The greatest version of Wonderful Tonight that I've ever seen or heard was performed this evening, as well as a magnificent Layla, and a version of Little Wing (written by Jimi Hendrix) that provides another great improv moment featuring Sanborn, that spread joy through the band. I'm glad you started your Clapton journey with songs that feature his amazing talent for moving you with his guitar prowess, as opposed to his acoustic ventures that are also a part of his legacy now, but not what built his reputation and rabid fan base. Go back near his beginnings and take a taste of his Cream days with Crossroads th-cam.com/video/7HfkSzsyh1E/w-d-xo.html. Eric sings lead on this live track, but the bassist Jack Bruce was actually the lead singer in all of the other band's songs. Fast forward to the mid 90's for Eric's return to straight blues, Groaning The Blues th-cam.com/video/vKFN78ksSa8/w-d-xo.html. There is a treasure trove of Clapton live video to choose from, but well worth the journey.
Love your reaction, as always! Clapton plays very much what's in his heart at that moment and a lot of it is improvised or at least evolved from however he played it the night before. So what you feel listening to his playing is the same things he's feeling. At the height of his power, he was like an open conduit through which the pain and the joy and the anger and the passion all flow directly from his heart to yours. Keyboard solo by Tim Carmon. With David Sanborn on saxophone, Nathan East on bass, Andy Fairweather-Low on guitar, Steve Gadd on drums, Dave Delhomme on the other keyboard (okay I had to look up that one), Katie Kissoon and Tessa Niles on background vocals. Best always!
Thanks for the reaction! This has to be one of the best solos ever. Two of my favourite Eric Clapton's songs are River of Tears and My Father's Eyes, from the Warner Vault concert.
Love your reaction and your heartfelt views on the music. It's so enjoyable to see you experience this music for the first time. No dancers, no autotune, no fireworks, just talent and amazing stills. Thank you for all your hard work and the great videos.
Clapton wrote this with his friend and another guitar great Robert Cray and my favorite live is them playing it together when Robert was touring with him.
I love your channel! I'm 56, I grew up listening to Eric Clapton & as far back as I can remember, he has been a master guitarist. I agree, how does he do it? I've attempted to play & it is extremely hard. I don't get it. You either have it in you or you don't. ha That's all I can come up with! 🤷🏼♀️I do enjoy you two, sending love, inner light & positivity to you both! ❤️✨️👍🏼🎸Music connects us all, all the way from TN.
Greetings from Chile, I really enjoy your reactions, keep going!!! I see that you are reacting to the great Eric Clapton, I suggest the song "Got to get better in a little while" live. it is a jewel....
The family tree of Clapton, would cover the roots and branches of Eden. since 1965, surrounded himself with the greatest musicians, and absolutely wrote, and covered the greatest songs of all time. Enjoy the journey Merchants! ❤
That's probably the most favourite song for me from his solo career. And I know all of his studio recordings and lots of his live performances - but not this live performance - it is fantastic! No one can make the guitar cry or put so much anger, disillusion and sadness in it as EC. He is amazing and in private life a controversial, not so easy person to be with for sure, who has gone through many bad things in life. You can hear it in the way he plays the guitar. He is unique.
This was not my favorite live version of Old Love, but Eric's solo is mesmerizing, for sure. I like the traditional arrangement with two solos and the piano bridge between. There are three versions culled from the 24 Nights sets. One from the original release on DVD and CD, then two more from the new boxed set, one of which is the orchestral version. There's also a bootleg of his Knebworth performance, with horrible video, but crystal clear audio, which is my favorite version of all time. In fact, anything from that Knebworth performance showcases Eric at his peak. Skill, confidence, and energy combined for a transcendent set that included Dire Straits and Elton John.
@@jeffreyfenko1797 so I have the original version of the 24 nights set. I just know this one of those three, I don't have the box set yet. Thank you for the information.
I've been fortunate to see Eric 3 times; all of which were very diff from each other. The first was a benefit in '83 for Ronnie Lane's muscular distrophy benefit. The line up was Eric, Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, The Rolling Stones (minus Jagger & Richards) and Joe Cocker. It didn't suck at all. I saw Eric do this number the second time. It was a very foggy Sunday night in Sept 1990 at Alpine Valley, Wisconsin. Stevie Ray Vaughn died in a helicopter crash that night, leaving the show. Hella thing
I don't recall you ever playing the group Blind Faith, Clapton was in the band along with Steve Windwood, Ginger Baker and Ric Grech, The music was excellent and worthy of your consideration.
Clapton - Mr Slow Hand - Like you said, its difficult to describe in words. I guess the closest description of his talent is he was touched by the finger of God.
One of the Beatles (I think it was George Harrison) was asked what he thought about the graffiti in London saying "Clapton is God". He answered: Well, Clapton may not be God, but if God played guitar... that's probably what he sounds like.
Eric is a survivor! He lived everything, lost so much! That's why he touches our hearts, souls, immediatly😢A legendary guitarist, probably, in the top 3 of the best blues guitarists, legends, and one of the best friend of my master, the greatest guitarist ever, Jimi Hendrix! I love that guy, and i, already, have my ticket to go to see him play live, in Paris, in May 2024( i hate that town, but i'm french and he only plays 3 concerts in France, Paris is the closer town for me)😂😋✌️As always, i liked your reaction.... I would like to see Andreyi cry, so watch Eric Clapton when he plays " River of tears" live, or watch when he plays with lucciano Pavarotti, "Holy mother"😂So much other great songs, and performances of that guy....Peace from France✌️.....
Love this song, the whole album is fire. And Rolling Stone is wrong, when it comes to playing a guitar, Eric is second to no one. Clapton is god! However, I prefer the studio version of this song to this performance.
React to White Room and Crossroads by Cream one of Eric Clapton's previous bands and the first super group of three of the most talented musicians live at Royal Albert Hall in 2005 it was the only reunion and shortly before the death of Jack Bruce the bass player
He releases his deepest emotions through his instrument

River of tears is another one amazing live
Yes sir please

Love how Eric's singing and guitar play back and forth to each other, then he just goes off. If that is old love lay more on me.
"Nobody stole a girl to the Beatles....except Eric Clapton"!! ❤

Beutiiful song

You folks are truly genuine!
Jeff Healey's "As years go passing by", a blind guitarist and singer will give you the same feeling. Eric is using a talk box at the end of this song.

@@MerchantOfAlba I will😅✌️Thank you so much to have taken the time to answer to me....
BAD LOVE, FOREVER MAN.
Pd.- In México we call "Tata" to Clapton (Father or Padre) Tata Clapton forever... ❤❤
Tata means the same in Polish and Romanian 👍😁
Or we're going wrong- Cream live
Love this song, the whole album is fire. And Rolling Stone is wrong, when it comes to playing a guitar, Eric is second to no one. Clapton is god! However, I prefer the studio version of this song to this performance.
Dr. Steve Gadd on drums absolutely kills it.
❤❤
Slow Hand is the man
The waaah waaah pedal
If just for your ears, you should try the version from his famous unplugged video, is acoustic guitar with piano, you’ll see!
You should do Tearing Us Appart Live at Knebworth
Try bell bottom blues, my fathers eyes tears in heaven
React to White Room and Crossroads by Cream one of Eric Clapton's previous bands and the first super group of three of the most talented musicians live at Royal Albert Hall in 2005 it was the only reunion and shortly before the death of Jack Bruce the bass player
Hi guys listen to "Five Long Years" LIVE"... you'll be amazed!! Aww
They call him God. Better than gilmore. Page. Beck. Hendrix
Its crazy because he will b on a list of top 5 guitarist of all time and another list of overrated guitarist. My ears say the former.
Only uneducated sheep say he is overrated
