These are soooo beautiful and what amazing ideas! I don’t know how you come up with all of these techniques but I sure am happy that you share them with us.
Neat pieces. I think the all black with carved diamonds is my favorite, then the floating circles is my runner up. I really enjoyed the variety of techniques and textures. I always enjoy your experiments with texture 😊
Hi Dar! Im so glad you like it. Thanks as always for watching and for your support. Jim does like to carve, you are right about that, but this time, I did all the carving myself. Cheers to you!!
Those are great! I really liked the last one. After all this time, I just realized you’re a lefty like me!! Lol Just wondering… could you use a Dremel to carve in clay?❤️🤗🐝
Hey fellow lefty!! Im glad you like them Deborah! Thanks as always for watching. As far as the dremel goes, I always carve when the clay is still in the greenware stage where it is fragile, so any carving tool will do the best job for that. A dremel would be a bit too aggressive I think. If you are asking about carving clay with a dremel at the bisque stage, I would expect that the clay would do more chipping of the clay than just carving like butter, so I dont think you would get a clean carved design. Good thinking though. I really like thinking outside the box 🙂
Hi John. I have seen those too, but havent tried them yet. I can see how they would really help out so you can see what you are working on when carving..without the debris and without having to put down your carving tool, right. Thanks for watching and thanks for the tip too John.
Hi Ann! The first vessel divided in three gives me a Hawaiian grass skirt vibe, love it! 🌴I’d like to get one of those measuring lights, I think would be a great addition to my studio. Are they speendy? Or maybe a seamstress hem liner. Thoughts? Thanks guys! Great content! Love every one of your videos. I would love to visit your studio one of these days! 💜
Hey Natalie. Haha. I knew it gave it movement but I couldnt put my finger on what sort of movement. You are right, shaking like a grass skirt back and forth. Totally right!! Those laser level are a bit pricey. People use them for many more things than just for making pottery of course like for hanging straight pictures or doing any sort of carpentry work. If you are into house projects etc, then it could be money well spent as you can use it in the house AND for pottery. Surprisingly Jim and I have used it quite a few times. More than I thought I would in the studio but definitely in the house too and I bet even more uses than I have thought of...like in sewing....quilt making too perhaps 🙂

Hey Michele! Im so glad you like them! As always I really appreciate your support 🙂
Beautiful work! I think I liked the 'hovering circles' the best. Great joining of geometric and flowing designs.
Hey Em! Thanks so much for watching. That one was really fun to create for sure and has so much depth to it.

Hi Alila. Thanks so much for watching and for the kind words. It is always exciting finding new ways to create movement and texture. 🙂
Good ideas! Have one of those lasers myself, never would have occurred to me to use it that way. Appreciate you expanding my mind. 😊 Aloha

Hi Bea! Aw..thanks you for watching. 🙂
You need one of those Diamond Core finger brushes 😊 I thought they were silly when I first saw them but they are probably very handy when carving.
