Okayyy folks listen now lol I’ve listened to a ton of Tom Petty (I even reference it in a song of mine) but I’ll admit, I did not recognize him here 😂 there were a few I didn’t recognize
The chair was left vacant because Roy Orbison was there when the song was recorded but passed away before the video was made.. Sadly only two left, Jeff Lynne from ELO and Bob Dylan... RIP Roy, George and Tom.
The drummer should be the one you don't recognize, LOL, but yeah, do some Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Electric LIght Orchestra for Jeff Lynne, Bob Dylan and Roy Orbison (passed away) and you'll get it. Of course you know of George and the Beatles. The drummer is Jim Keltner.
Ah, the passing of time. Here is a guy who is a musician….active and working but he doesnt recognize Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Bob Lynne. He almost picked up on Roy Orbison and the ghost chair.
Harrison and Jeff Lynne (of ELO) sang the first two verses, and shared production credits. Tom Petty sang the bridges. Roy Orbison, who died before filming this video sang the middle verse. The rocking chair was a tribute to him. Bob Dylan sang harmonies. Jim Keltner, a famous session drummer, was also a member.
The Traveling Wilburys were at first just a collaboration to help George record a B-Side for his next Single. But then they decided, hey, this song (Handle With Care) is so good that we should release it on its own merits and become an actual group. So, they did. Harrison, Bob Dylan, Jeff Lynne, Roy Orbison, Tom Petty. The drummer was not considered a part of the group. That was still the lineup when they recorded End of the Line. However, Orbison passed away before they could do this music vid for it. That's why you're seeing emphasis on the empty chair during the verse that he sings.
Well, the drummer was considered important to the group. James Keltner worked with Bob Dylan but he did lots of session work for really, really well known groups and individuals and session work Beatles solo projects such as George Harrison and John Lennon as well. Bob Dylan considered him to be “the leading session drummer in America”. FYI, he still is alive and active 👍🏼😊👍🏼
@@leadabo I agree. I'm just saying that almost no writeups about the group mention him, so apparently the choice was made to define him as something other than an official member.
Yea super group consisting of Tom petty, George Harrison, Jeff Lynne (ELO) and Bob Dylan... Roy Orbison was originally a member but died before this video was recorded hence the empty chair with the guitar
@@ravenzyblackthat's my point he was in the band but had passed away before the video (not the song) was recorded hence the empty chair. I was referring to the recording of the video. Hope that clarifies it 😊
I feel like noone really understands how good george harrison was. People refer to him as one of the beatles which is true, but, he could have made his own band and would shine just as bright. His voice is so damn good
@@DazzleMonroe not true. When i first saw/heard them recognised Petty straight away (I'm a Tom Petty fan). Also recognised Harrison, Dylan, Orbison (the last 2 from their distinctive voices). Knew I had heard Jeff Lynn before but couldn't place the voice. wouldn't consider myself a huge music nerd, but I am gen x, so my parents listened to Orbison and the Beatles. They hated Dylan, and probably never knew who the other 2 even were.
I love the Wilburys, what's not to like, a super group of some of the best musicians of our time. It's so sad so many of them are no longer with us. RIP Roy, George, Tom.
This was a super group which consisted of George Harrison, Jeff Lynne, Roy Orbison, Bob Dylan and Tom Petty. Another good one to listen to is 'Handle With Care'.
The empty chair with the guitar represented Roy Orbison, he had been part of the Traveling Wilburys until he passed away. I think you noticed the picture of Roy on the table. Loved their albums, hope you react to some more of their music, it was all originals the guys came up with in their recording sessions.
Frank Sinatra said the Harrison penned and recorded song, SOMETHING" was, in his opinion, one of the most beautiful compositions ever and even sang it himself. George did come into his own eventually. Thanks again Brad!❤❤❤
Established in 1988. Wikipedia’s first line in a yahoo search says “Perhaps the biggest supergroup of all time, a roots combo formed by George…” I’d have to agree even without delving further into what “Wiki” thinks!!! I lived it and am so sad that 3 of the 5 are no longer with us to continue their epic music contributions!! But thankfully, they recorded it!!
"End of the line" was poetic honor to Roy Orbison, who was the stellar voice in this video. This was a supergroup (as in superfood), each one a megastar on their own. Orbison was the empty rocking chair. He died before they could do the video. They didn't make a big deal about who they were. They just wanted to make music.
Roy Orbison died between the recording of the songs and taping all the videos. The empty chair during his vocal lines represent this titan in the industry who toured in 1956 with Elvis, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, and Jerry Lee Lewis.
The chair with a guitar was a tribute to Roy Orbison, who died before this video was shot. As of October 2023 the only members of The Traveling Wilbury's who are still with us is Jeff Lynne, Bob Dylan and Jim Keltner. All the others are at the end of the line waiting for the rest of the band to show up.
Props on recognizing George but a bit disappointed you didn't notice at least Tom Petty and Bob Dylan. I thought I saw recognition on your face when Roy Orbison's part came on but you didn't quite make the connection. It's ok, you're just a baby and they are all before your time ;)
Loved your reaction to this song. I agree with every word you said about George Harrison. He did write this song. Good ear. These guys knew how to make great music.❤❤
How can a so called singer not spot Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne. With vocals and picture of The Big O. Not to forget the great Jim Keltner on percussion
The guitar was for Roy Orbison he was part of the band he passed away right before they made this video when they showed the guitar that was his solo of the song
George Harrison, my favorite Beatle and hands down the most underrated. Lennon and McCartney wrote the vast majority of the songs, but you could argue that George wrote 3 of the top 5 Beatles songs (Here Comes the Sun, Something, While My Guitar Gently Weeps).
Now this is what I call a Supergroup! Hope you do more from them - especially Handle With Care. George was my favourite Beatle. And I LOVE Roy Orbison. So sad he died so early into this group etc, but lovely they featured in this video the guitar and chair for him! That was him in the photo.
The song also wasnt written by george..its a bob dylan number (lyrics at least). Yes, the empty chair is Roys. He passed between recording his vocals and the record being produced.
The guys in this group represented 30 years of rock'n'roll and coming together in the late 80s was monumental in reminding young people who they were and that they were still relevant. Roy Orbison with his beautiful clear tenor, Bob Dylan and his poetic stellar songwriting and George Harrison of the Beatles were huge names in music during the 60s. Jeff Lynne is the founder of ELO, really big in progressive pop/rock and a long time friend of George Harrison. Tom Petty was one of the predominant leaders of 80s rock. As you noticed, they still had a lot to say. This was Roy Orbison's last set of recordings before he died and you saw the empty rocking chair hold the guitar along with the photo of him on the nearby table. The Traveling Wilburys run was brief, but any single one of the member have extensive catalogs of their own that are worth spending time to investigate.
Ok so you have stuff to learn. Bob Dylan my first ever album back in the 1960's. I have this CD and love this band. Your style does sound a little like them.Folk, country Rock. These guys can do it all. Have fun.
They all had Wilbury names as well which was cool, so yeah, this great group was put together for fun, a history video is out there about how they came to be. And then they started dying off...so yeah, here we go. Jeff Lynne is still performing with ELO and Bob Dylan is as well in whatever he does.
LOL great reaction to theis supergroup. You got George, but missed Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, Jeff Lynne and in memory but his voice, Roy Orbison. You should listne to Handle With Care. Enjoy
All-Star Band: Tom Petty, George Harrison, Jeff Lynne, Roy Orbison and Bob Dylan. These guys were great. I wore out my cassette tapes of this band I played them so much. Roy Orbison was singing and playing guitar on the recording of this song but passed away before the video was made. The rocking chair has Roy's guitar in it and it is rocking to the beat of the song, as a nod to their fellow band mate, lest he not be forgotten. I read that on the recordings, Jeff Lynne played the drums as well as guitar. Thank you for your reaction.
When you, (if you) ever think of Monty Python, think of George Harrison too. :D Mr. Harrison created Hand Made Films and helped produce a Monty Python comedy movie called "The Life of Brian".
