Agreed, Maggie! Hard to accept that the TWs were only together for four years, and that it was 35 years ago, and that the surviving members are, well, old. But great stuff, and glad some of the pop of that day endures.

I had to look it up "Jim Keltner was the drummer and percussionist on both Traveling Wilburys albums and was given the nickname Buster Sidebury."
The Traveling Wilburys is a rock supergroup from 1988, made up of Roy Orbison, George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, & Jeff Lynne. Roy had passed away when this video was made & they did a nice tribute to him with the guitar in the rocking chair. They had a lot of great songs such as "Handle With Care", "Heading For The Light", "Inside Out", "Tweeter & The Monkey Man", "Dirty World", "Last Night", "She's My Baby", "Rattled", "Nobody's Child", "Congratulations" etc. Sadly only 2 guys are now left from this group (Bob Dylan & Jeff Lynne).
This song is my husband's favorite of this group! They were special! It really is a sing along song! It feels more folksy rather than country to me. Loved your reaction to this. Laughed hard at your mouthing "end of the line" at one point. Awesome!
Someone probably mentioned it but their song Handle With Care includes Roy Orbison.

Hi, when I first saw a video of the "Traveling Wilburys" (about 15 years ago sadly) I was shocked... How did I not know that these gems had come together in a band?... and I listened to them for a month straight uninterruptedly 😅
Later I discovered another country supergroup "The Highwaymen" were an American country music supergroup, composed of four of country music's biggest artists who pioneered the outlaw country subgenre: Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, and Kris Kristofferson.

I strongly agree with your assessment of Jeff Lynne. He is a genius and musicians know it. As the Traveling Wilburys producer (and musician member), he was the sonic glue that created a cohesive sound throughout their song catalog.

I've been a Traveling Wilburys fan for many years and this is one of my favourite songs of theirs. For a completely different feel have a listen to Tweeter and the Monkey Man, which is another favourite of mine, with Tom Petty in the lead. Fun Fact, End Of The Line was sung by Dennis Waterman in the closing credits of Episode 1 of the comedy/drama New Tricks, but never used after that. I wonder if it was a copyright thing.
Hello Sir! I always saw this group and the two recorded albums as a group of friends, five brilliant musicians who got together and did what makes each one so special, good simple music, almost as if they were siting outdoors jamming and having a good time. Only five truly great musicians would do this. Greetings from Portugal.
I.ve loved this song, this ditty if you will, but always thought it somewhat simple..............your explanation shows me I have been wrong - it is really quite complicated and is so as to sound simple. I am not musically inclined ( in fact I wear ear plugs in the shower in case I break out into song to save my senses from damage ) but am always better when I watch your reaction/reviews. Musicians of this caliber don't tend to sit and analyse what they are doing to the Nth degree, a lot is based on talent and instinct, I've been playing guitar for around 50 years and you find phrases and structures that sound right to your ears without any complex thought, I would think that none of these guys thought that what they were doing was particularly complex, it just sounded right.

If you haven't seen it, and you like Harrison, there is the 2002 Concert For George, where Eric Clapton and many of Harrison's friends got together and played his music. This included Ravi Shankar with an Indian ensemble, a sitar piece by his daughter, Monty Python, and many well known rock musicians - Clapton, McCartney, Petty, Ringo, Lynne, and many more, including Jim Keltner, the drummer on this video. (There are excerpts on TH-cam).

🎼🎸🎼 .. oh yes YES !!! This is a big surprise Sir Hairless . I bought this CD when it came out ( .. yes ... CD 😅.. ) and just played it over and over until the scratches ruined my day. I love each voice in this Supergroup !! I am so glad you are bopping to this gem .. and there are many more. Since I discovered Rock n Roll , I always thought Tom Petty was a great songwriter , and then I always thought Roy Orbison had one of the best singing voices of all time. This song melts my heart and takes me back to when I would listen to a song 101 times by myself. Love that you are seeing these music giants in a unique setting , a unique group , and the way they share the spotlight. Love it 💚🌎💚🌎💚 , love it , love all of it. Thanks Sir Hairless. Your comments on the D- G pattern made me think of another great song that you may not know. It is titled "Call And Answer" .... by The Barenaked Ladies. It runs along the same as this one .. multiple D - G runs with an occasional A chord. I think you might like it Sir Hairless 🌎🎼🌎🎼🌎🎼

The „easy sing along songs“ are often very hard to make I heard this song very often, it’s kind of country style but also very George Harrison style so to speak . The drummer was Jim Keltner, also called „Buster Sidebury“ he was the percussionist on the album, on which this song was the last one

Love the Traveling Wilburys! Definitely agree about them being a super group! Superb talent. This is a favorite. I’m usually here for Home Free (which I think they could pull off doing a cover of this). Appreciated your analysis. I almost always learn something when I watch your channel. I would like to know all of them by heart , I also think Jeff is an absolute genius. His voice floors me , then I watch him play on live videos .. and his musicianship floors me. There is a very famous video which I am guessing you have watched, it was filmed at the George Harrison tribute concert --- the song is "While My Guitar Genuly Weeps" --- Tom Petty on Main vocals .. George's son on rhythm guitar - Jeff Lynne on guitar and backup vocals ........... AND , Prince on lead guitar... it is beyond stunning !!💙🎼
One of, if not the, greatest rock producer of all time. It's no coincidence that everyone in the Wilburys had an '80s solo career revival/breakout once he got involved.
Best concert I ever saw in the 70's was ELO. I saw them twice. Chicago was a close second. Rock n Roll is King is one of my favorite songs.

George liked writing songs with repetition that acted like meditative mantras. “My Sweet Lord” is most famous one.
Jim Keltner is a session drummer who has played with all the greats. He worked with George quite a bit.
Funny that, when I was cooking yesterday "My Sweet Lord" came on (out of a possible 1500+ songs) I get what you mean

I played both albums non stop when they came out. Bob Dylan's voice is an acquired taste but one of the greatest poets and songwriters of my generation, imo. A great human civil rights activist as well. The great music I grew up with softens the blow of these old, arthritic knees. 😁😁 At least I got to dance to the best era of music, imo. Peace and love to all.
His work with the Wilburys might be Dylan at his most accessible.
If you haven't already, Jeff Lynn's band ELO has many songs to react to. Im sure many others here will advise which are best. I love Strange Magic. (And nearly all the others😊)

Hey Sir, I’m joining you with the feeling of embarrassment for not knowing about the existence of this supergroup of musical super geniuses!! As you listed the names of the line up, I was increasingly being floored down in my disbelief😅It was delightful to watch the nice environment of camaraderie of this music video to pay a lighthearted tribute to Roy Orbison... It was also very interesting to hear your passionate statement saying that you consider Jeff Lynne “one of the genuine musical geniuses that has graced our planet in recent times” :) Yes, today I feel more than ever that I should learn more about his extensive contribution because I’m slightly aware that he not only created admirable music when working with other giants, but also contributed as a producer to create some very nice songs by not-very-known artists. Since we’re speaking about geniuses, one of my favorite songs produced by him within the category of ‘not-very-known artists’ is the mysterious and haunting track ‘Genius next door’ by the Russian-American singer-songwriter Regina Spektor (as part of her album ‘Far’, which was co-produced by Lynne when Regina wasn’t very famous yet - If you don’t know this beautiful song, I recommend you to listen to it when you have time). As for the other monumental components of The Traveling Wilburys… well, I guess I’ll only add that Bob Dylan represents nothing less than one of the main initial reasons I got really interested to learn more about English: his masterful ways with words/storytelling grabbed my heart and catapulted my mission of learning your language from a position of a ‘mandatory requirement’ to a ‘delightful pleasure’. It makes me very happy to see that Sir Hairless’ channel is also open to explore some beloved classics😊Thank you (and the Patreon who suggested it) for this great surprise❣

@@SirHairless Oh, yesss Brian Wilson is brilliant! Very nice to know that you’re also fan of The Beach Boys (and now I got curious to know what is your favorite by them?) I will never forget the first time I heard this incredible band… I was little, maybe around 8ish-year old, and ‘God only knows’ started playing in the living room of one of my mother’s friends. I stayed quiet listening to it, in a complete state of immersion, without understanding a single word. When it finished, I asked my mother to help me to find that song and I kept listening to it on repeat for days😅As I always say, I was born with an old-lady soul, and several classic/older names of music have strongly captured my imagination and love since my early life. As for Regina Spektor, you might indeed recognize her name because she became quite famous lately. If you like that first recommendation (to be enjoyed during your free time), you may also like her other three songs co-produced by Jeff Lynne from that same album: ‘Blue Lips’, ‘Folding Chair’ and ‘Wallet’ (he also plays the guitar/bass and does some background vocals). I appreciate the slightly surreal imagery Regina usually portrays in her songs: it sounds unpretentious and somehow sweet, free and out of the box✌

I have 23 Beach Boys songs on there so...

This was really popular here in Australia. I was in my first year of high school and it was played at all the school discos. It wasn't until years later that I realised just how legendary the line up of artists was.
