Hey guys. You mentioned doing a podcast on the ELD-X. Please consider that. There is so much conflicting info out there about it. Too fragile. Too tough. Good for elk. Sucks for elk, etc. I would love to have you discuss this.
300 prc is for shooters who don’t hand load. 300 win mag hand loaded will outperform (handle heavier projectiles without pressure problems) as the slower burning powder and case design allows. PRC is great for 212 grain and 300 win mag handles the 230 better.

I just got a gunsmith building one for me. I'm not looking to push the 225gr as fast as I can, rather focusing on barrel life - with N570, according to numbers from GRT and a calculator I found online, it's arouns 800 shots. N165 doubles it, but of course it's not the optimal powder for it. N165 has a much lower burn/flame temp than N570. Retumbo is kinda in the middle with better performance than N165.
Gowiboy I have both 300 Norma and 300PRC and my Norma uses 4gn more of Retumbo than the PRC and will inside the 300 PRC any day of the week. Dont know about 25/30gn difference of powder weight.
Y'all need to talk to Randy ,known as the real gunsmith on here. He talking mad smack bout the 300prc and he's giving people false information. He doesn't understand the design and keeps comparing it to 300winmag . The prc walks all over the win mag at distance .
Just another marketing scheme. The cartridge itself is not superior to the 300 Weatherby, has a negligible improvement over the 300 Winchester Magnum and is absolutely inferior to the 30-378 Weatherby Magnum. One can see that something was odd when the 300 PRC is the only 30 caliber rifle cartridge with data for the 250 grain Hornady A - tip, and possibly the 230 grain A - tip also. (data for 225 grain .308 bullets is generally interchangeable with those at 230 grains) Finally, the massive 30 - 378 does not have data for these long, bullets. No one can convince me the rate of twist in Weatherby rifles would be inadequate or be incapable of stabilizing a .308 230 grain boat tail projectile with a high b.c. and long ogive.
Last 15min of shooting light on an elk hunt I get up and get ready to leave. On top a 200’ cliff over looking creeks and meadows from 100yds to 400yds. Their ancestors were prolly the ones who told Henry Ford, "I'll stick to my horses. They are fast enough for what we need, I'll stick with them!"
Incidentally, I could never figure out who the "We" were in that ubiquitously declared statement. Anyone making such a foolish assertion about what someone else's needs may or may not be, notwithstanding their wants, isn't really to be taken seriously anyway, as far as I'm concerned!
It's called research and development, not, "What I've got now is all I will ever need." Kudos to Hornady and the other gun, bullet, and cartridge manufacturers who do this stuff for a living. They are the ones in the best possible position to know what will or will not perform to or above a certain standard. If I got the choice of listening to them, which I do, or heeding the admonitions of some nameless, faceless, uninformed social media critics, guess which way I'm going to lean.
There was a time when black powder, flintlock, cap and ball, breach loading and single shot smokeless powder rifles, were the greatest thing since spears and arrows. I rest my case!
Papa Joe got that recipe.
I love the concept of this cartage, but with how hard it is to get this ammo it is really putting a sower taste in my mouth. I have the rifle, and in 18 months I have been able to get 6 boxes. I have it on back order all over. Really don’t have enough to site in and count on it as a platform
Check Mile High Shooting or Scheels.
Reload then.
@@wes3029 oh that will happen, eventually. I like to get to about 300 empty cases before I start down that rabbit hole. Actually dies are on the bench already, lol
I have the 300RUM PRC .
I’ve been contemplating the 300prc but the short barrel life just has me nervous
Any talk about a 308 PRC?
Like the 30 TC?
Army sniper round is 300 norma mag
Atmospheric pressure is a real thing. The 300PRC makes less of it, which makes it a more pleasant experience.
Calling in an air strike on an Elk 😂
C’mon fellas. I realize you’ve got a product to sell, but don’t suggest the little .300 PRC is in direct competition with the .338 Lapua Magnum.
Kinda 2 different animals for sure! But the 300PRC is closer than any other 30 cal I suppose. Its not a .338 mag tho.
The 300 mags can penetrate body armors better than the 338 Lapua.
@@jamespmullin21753 🙄
A true heavy hitter🤣😂😆Just another Bro-Hunter cartridge!
Gowiboy
I have both 300 Norma and 300PRC and my Norma uses 4gn more of Retumbo than the PRC and will inside the 300 PRC any day of the week. Dont know about 25/30gn difference of powder weight.
Guys, I need more than 2 factory loadings, or y'all need to make WAAAAAY more ammo
Scheels carries 300 PRC ammo.
Make some more 6.5 grendel BTHP!!!
Also 300 RUM
Wrong on the 300wby mag. Reloading Weatherby loads 200 grain Accubonds and shoots half in groups
Last 15min of shooting light on an elk hunt I get up and get ready to leave. On top a 200’ cliff over looking creeks and meadows from 100yds to 400yds. I take one last look through the meadows across the valley before leaving and I spot the biggest bull I’ve ever seen… at 1150yds 🤦♂️ absolutely no chance or time to get closer. Anybody have the balls to admit this 300prc would do the job? I bet it would.
Answere "Lets Go Brandon's" question below. I watch none of the Shows you sponsor. They're in it for the money too, "Non Patriots".
How about talking about the vaccine mandate you say isn't in place but internal emails say otherwise?
@bowhunter 4 life So if your employer told you you needed to insert something into your body, that you did not want, you would be okay with that?
What the hell is up with the headsets lol, ya'll look ridiculous.
It's production work Matt. It's all good.
@@RandyMan388 they are in a conference room not a production floor lol
its a podcast, they have to do that as any podcast does. Radio shows are the same way.
@@PatriotPaulUSA that is not true.
Not a great video guys……. Nothing like your ballistics videos. Not even close
